You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give ‘The Every twat for Themselves mob’ the staffroom password as a number of them are operating in an alternative reality.

No DfE muppets allowed

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom, especially if yo

8 more schools in my city today. Some schools with multiple cases day on day but whole year groups no longer being sent home regardless Sad.

Piggywaspushed · 08/10/2020 18:40

Anything could be happening in my area. No media coverage at all.

Danglingmod · 08/10/2020 18:46
Shock

I notice that the local TV news is silent on schools (BBC, of course!) whilst reporting on one person testing positive in a single company (like a carpet firm Hmm).

The print and online media though are all over it. Daily briefing from local public heath bods.

Piggywaspushed · 08/10/2020 18:50

We don't have any print media and the local online papers have nothing. Even the local facebook community pages have nothing!

MrsHamlet · 08/10/2020 19:05

Ofsted came and went with no drama, although there were two fights and three exclusions today

monkeytennis97 · 08/10/2020 19:11

@MrsHamlet glad it all went well (minus the fights!Grin)

WhenSheWasBad · 08/10/2020 19:13

SLT must be relieved to see them gone. I think my school are very lucky, they had Ofsted in just before lockdown and now feel quite safe (for a little while).

MrsHamlet · 08/10/2020 19:21

We got properly Ofsted this time last year so were a tad taken aback!
One of the fights involved a kid who needed a pummelling...

noblegiraffe · 08/10/2020 19:23

Corridor duty today. Bloody kids putting their hand over their mouth because they can’t be arsed to put a mask on.

monkeytennis97 · 08/10/2020 19:25

And now the bloody One Show having a go at us... Jesus...

Wtf! What did they say?
Piggywaspushed · 08/10/2020 19:30

The One Show? It is normally very pro teacher!

Piggywaspushed · 08/10/2020 19:35

I am rewinding it now and it seems to be noble's beloved who is lecturing us...

He doesn't need to worry about PE at our school, must say. They are definitely not SD in changing rooms or in the sports hall...

monkeytennis97 · 08/10/2020 19:36

Oh it's just the whole "kids need to be in schools for their MH" line being trotted out again...

Lots of dark blue now. Bristol has some now too.

NeurotrashWarrior · 08/10/2020 20:05

I've noticed that school reports in the media in Northumberland, Newcastle, North Tyneside, South Tyneside and Gateshead are vvv quiet. Sunderland seem to merrily report every single school.

Despite having had both staff and student cases, we have no masks here...
ohthegoats · 08/10/2020 20:13

Behaviour... aagh. I've not experienced anything like it since my NQT year. Maybe it's me?!

I've got 4 kids in my class who listen, follow instructions, try to work hard, don't hurt other children, leave the room randomly. 4. I feel really sorry for them.

noblegiraffe · 08/10/2020 20:14

Wow, some obvious university towns in blue on that map. Sending the students back has gone well Hmm

I haven’t seen the One Show but I’m sure whatever Saint Joe said was spot on Grin (was he teacher-bashing??)

We introduced masks in corridors after teachers complained. It really was ridiculous, our corridors are tiny.

Theyve moved the surveillance report and included flu so it's less clear now

MrsHamlet · 08/10/2020 20:33

But schools are safe....

SaltyAndFresh · 08/10/2020 20:37

My one and only number one tip for behaviour is give it time. It doesn't matter how long you e been teaching altogether; if you're new to them will push the boundaries as far as they can. All you can do is be fair and consistent.

I'm finding this term miraculously easy in terms of behaviour, but not because of anything I've done other than be there for 2.5 years.
