You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give ‘The Every twat for Themselves mob’ the staffroom password as a number of them are operating in an alternative reality.

No DfE muppets allowed

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom, especially if you have not used the hand gel. Close the door quietly on your way out and put your mask on

Keep I get insomnia when hypo - yet I am exhausted! When i'm hyper I just don't need sleep and I can stay up and do all the stuff in the world!

I am only ever well with a tsh of 0 and a ft4 of 13 or above. It's a fight to get them to take you seriously. My gp moaned about the cost of my t3 once and the hospital consultant put him straight. With it I can work : without it i'm a sort of weepy balding human slug with memory loss.

I wanted to keep rows but apparently it's fine to go to groups again next week. No idea why! I'm keeping rows.

TheHoneyBadger · 02/10/2020 16:27

The app is weird hope I'm posting not pming.

Still no cases for us and people are starting to close windows and doors and suggest we can do that now. I'm not happy to do that if the risk assessment still says leave open.

I think the subtle allowing teachers discretion abdicates the schools responsibility and lands it on us. Till I have it in writing I'm leaving doors and at least some windows open.

Shattered today. Running across site multiple times in wind and rain sucks

Piggywaspushed · 02/10/2020 16:37

Note in the above Viner doing the government's job for them again.

HipTightOnions · 02/10/2020 16:43

Today was our fIrst day of live-streaming classroom lessons to isolating pupils.

Nightmare.

phlebasconsidered · 02/10/2020 16:45

I would really like to see year 6 data. Anecdotally all the local primary cases are in year 6 students. I know my lot bugger off to the park to meet up with secondary kids and mates as soon as I see them out of my bubble /sieve.

RobertsUncle · 02/10/2020 16:46

@HipTightOnions
I dread that. Are you primary or secondary? What made it particularly tricky?
I'm worried about being asked to do that due to behaviour issues in my class (primary)

NeurotrashWarrior · 02/10/2020 16:47

Anecdata; it's been y6 in my school.

HipTightOnions · 02/10/2020 16:50

Secondary.

  • Kids at home playing up for kids in class (so had to be muted).
  • Kids in class playing up for kids at home.
  • Kids at home can’t see board properly.
  • Kids at home mucking about on text chat while teacher teaching kids in class.
  • Kids at home bombarding teacher with text questions.
NeurotrashWarrior · 02/10/2020 17:00

Live streaming is rubbish.

University lecturer friend is doing pre recorded dues to issues with access for students and also those stuck over sees eg China.

NeurotrashWarrior · 02/10/2020 17:01

That sounds so tough and utterly pointless hip.

Hercwasonaroll · 02/10/2020 17:06

Our school Internet can barely cope with the increasing pressure on one drive/teams. Mass live lesson streaming will be a disaster. They'd be better off letting us teach from home.

HipTightOnions · 02/10/2020 17:12

That sounds so tough and utterly pointless hip.

Yup it was rubbish. And the thought that parents might be watching doesn’t help!

CountDuckulasKetchup · 02/10/2020 17:14

So R is 1.3-1.6. Remember when we HAD to keep r under 1?

eitak22 · 02/10/2020 17:28

@SquashedFlyBiscuits

No more tables in rows at my school. Apparently not needed any more. I can't decide how I feel about that. Are rows nonsense anyway in a primary or not?
Still rows here and no plans to change at the moment. Honestly things would be easier in groups but it's not guidance or safe so were still in rows.
Frlrlrubert · 02/10/2020 17:33

Second positive year 13. 6th form closed for two weeks. 50% of lessons to be live via teams, 50% independent with work submitted via SatchelOne I think (I don't teach 6th form so not read the details).

Our 6th form is tiny, got to be a matter of time before other years start testing positive.

SaltyAndFresh · 02/10/2020 17:51

This picture pisses me off. Ours were asked to wear face coverings in corridors last week, but only a small handful are.

I hope parents will realise why live teaching doesn't work!

Keepdistance · 02/10/2020 17:59

Gp took me off the thyroxine.
Let me have an antibody test.
But basically im not going to be able to have any unless my tsh goes over 10 now. Crap. (And yet my result would have been right if ttc...! And anyway is in the ideal range so the unfairness of it all when the dose im taking is clearly right.
She denied it mattered my sister has it too.
Just so angry upset and feel nhs is never about what is right for you.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 02/10/2020 18:00

How can rows or open windows not bee needed any more?

ohthegoats · 02/10/2020 18:00

Still rows here and no plans to change at the moment.

I always have rows, even in year 3. I still use the carpet a lot though, even in year 4.

I had a negative covid test today as part of random selection. So that's good.

ohthegoats · 02/10/2020 18:01

Also, first wet play AND lunch. Fucking hell, they were nuts by 11.30 even. Had to pull out the interesting lesson stops for the afternoon just to avoid resorting to colouring in.

WhenSheWasBad · 02/10/2020 18:02

hiptight that sounds awful, maybe the kids will settle down once they get used to it (naive optimism there).

Ours is crap too herc the science tech has to upload videos at home as school internet can’t handle it. Sad

SaltyAndFresh · 02/10/2020 18:03

@RafaIsTheKingOfClay

How can rows or open windows not bee needed any more?
We are being told windows only need to be open 5 mins in 30 of 15 in an hour. All about appeasing the parents. Fuck the teachers.
Keepdistance · 02/10/2020 18:06

I think i saw something about germany saying it was certain number of minutes etc.
Maybe less if it was cold outside.
but surely it is also relevant if people are in masks or numbers or distancing etc
