You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give ‘The Every twat for Themselves mob’ the staffroom password as a number of them are operating in an alternative reality.

No DfE muppets allowed

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom, especially if you have not used the hand gel. Close the door quietly on your way out and put your mask on

Marking my place with a "can't sleep".

Thanks Staff

Augustbreeze · 22/09/2020 23:40

I should be in bed. Thanks staff!

monkeytennis97 · 23/09/2020 02:27

Can't sleep. DH the same.. Thought I'd jump on the new thread. Going to try to drift off again 🤞

motherrunner · 23/09/2020 06:08

Morning all 👋 Thanks for new thread @StaffAssociationRepresentative

DreamingofBrie · 23/09/2020 06:21

Thanks, Staff.

Quiet day today, only 3 lessons, but my Friday into Monday is terrible, 5 lessons each day. I'm wiped out until Wednesday evening usually!

I read the thread on which other prime ministers/politicians you'd rather have in charge at the moment, just before I went to bed, and had a bizarre conversation with Rory Stewart in my dreams Blush.

GuyFawkesDay · 23/09/2020 06:38

@DreamingofBrie I have the same, and no lunch break on Mondays and Fridays due to timetabling. I mean, I get someone to cover but it means chugging lunch in 5 minutes as it's the same class affected, and they lose an hour a week contact time otherwise. And I have to set cover for my lunches.

Oh and we've got a fricking learning walk this week too. Just.....why?

Supposed to be getting up but ....
Just can't do it.

Iamnotthe1 · 23/09/2020 07:03

Thank you.

Is everyone ready for another day of freedom loving? We're so lucky that, as a people, we love being free. Those Germans and Italians don't understand because they hate freedom.

Remember, if your students are badly behaved today and aren't following the rules, it's only because they love freedom so much. They can't be expected to follow rules: that's going too far.

I’ve got 2/3 of my class in, but can spread out a bit as 3 classes (one bubble) is SI.

Weve got to have all displays done by next week but have been given no time to do them (weren't allowed to change classrooms over the summer) and be ready for drop ins. it's a joke.

Piggywaspushed · 23/09/2020 07:36

My colleague queried why there was no cleaning of chairs, light switches, banisters , door handles. Not in the cleaners' job descriptions apparently....

Augustbreeze · 23/09/2020 07:57

@Piggywaspushed 😨

MsAwesomeDragon · 23/09/2020 08:01

The best cleaner in the school is based in my building. She's absolutely fantastic and on the ball with everything, including door handles and light switches. The rest of the cleaners in the school are nowhere near as good and have to be reminded to hoover, let alone wipe down door handles.

Augustbreeze · 23/09/2020 08:02

To @Danglingmod on last thread saying PHE locally are telling her local press which schools and yr groups are isolating:

Gosh, that surprises me! I suppose they do have the authority to do that, but it doesn't appear to be happening in other places....

Anyone know of similar?

Augustbreeze · 23/09/2020 08:03

@Piggywaspushed could you make an anonymous call to public health or something? (Semi serious)

Danglingmod · 23/09/2020 08:10

Maybe the local press need to earn their dollar in other areas and call them!

(BRTUS map all not up to date for us, but I imagine few people have heard of it. More read local press (via FB).)

Piggywaspushed · 23/09/2020 08:11

The union said in the mailshot yesterday that HSE were doing (remote...) spotchecks so I hope that is heeded!

I have mentioned it to my own rep again. They juts aren't passing stuff up.

Danglingmod · 23/09/2020 08:13

Our school is really very clean. One cleaner redeployed from evening duty to middle of the day, just cleaning high touch points. It's kind of irrelevant, though (might stop spread of colds - I've witnessed three year 7 s pick their nose and eat it so far...)

Piggywaspushed · 23/09/2020 08:26

Ewwwwwwww

MrsHamlet · 23/09/2020 08:27

There is more than one kind of freedom, said Aunt Lydia. Freedom to and freedom from. In the days of anarchy, it was freedom to. Now you are being given freedom from. Don’t underrate it.

Saucery · 23/09/2020 08:29

I suspect the prevalence of diarrhoea in children who test positive is because of unsavoury nose picking habits etc.

Danglingmod · 23/09/2020 08:31

MrsHamlet - that quotation hits me in the guts.

MrsHamlet · 23/09/2020 08:40

I love Margaret Atwood.
