You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give ‘The Every twat for Themselves mob’ the staffroom password as a number of them are operating in an alternative reality.

No DfE muppets allowed

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom, especially if you have not used the hand gel. Close the door quietly on your way out and put your mask on.

I'm 42. I can get my teachers' pension at 68. Confused

Mistressiggi · 06/09/2020 20:15

"As children return to school, Michael Morpurgo questions whether we are educating our children....or programming them."

Yup, the latter.

"As children return to school, Michael Morpurgo questions whether we are educating our children....or programming them."

Yup, the latter.

I love him I saw him reading his short story at Christmas. He was really good.
phlebasconsidered · 06/09/2020 20:29

Jenny are you getting support? I have found my local Age Concern really great and they pointed me to other groups to help support me with my mum. I also know that a colleague last year got great familial support from Marie Curie and the local hospice which has a support group of it's
own. They helped her financially to get time off to support her dad. Sorry if it sounds grim but there are people out there and they do help you feel less alone. And we are here, as shit as that is. I'm positive you can vent on here. xxxxx

Day 5 today. Or they had an inset on the tuesday.
Thing is if it's as little as 1d average 5 it could be they werent all infected by 1 person, though average 5d it does seem it. They need to follow up those students with tests really as the teachers may have all been in the infectious time
But say 1 person spread to at least those 5 plus however many students. Then 5d later there are now 5 infectious teachers walking about. With household there are probably 20 infections there already not incl the students. .
Hopefully in some ways that is from inset day or something. With these lack of measures if every infected teacher does that many
Seriously concerning because it wont matter about the bubbles and really whole schools should shut.

MrsHamlet · 06/09/2020 20:33

Macmillan also support families. I discovered this from a girl in my form last year when her mum was diagnosed.

The posting style really reminds me of an old poster on the old TES chat whose name escapes me. Was a total made up persona but very funny.

WhyNotMe40 · 06/09/2020 20:54

It's going to bug me now until I remember the username!
Was a very fake account. Supposedly posh female. About 12- 15 years ago...

WhyNotMe40 · 06/09/2020 21:00

Goneril.

NeurotrashWarrior · 06/09/2020 21:07

Yes It is day 5, and I expect there will be some teachers who have contracted it; at the same time a large number of those tests today would have been done a day or two ago.

Next Sunday's numbers and this week's phe report will be illuminating.

Though we all know that if we make it to October in any of our schools without any bubbles closing, we've been v lucky.

ohthegoats · 06/09/2020 21:09

Blee - I've worked for 9 hours today, and JUST about have a handle on the week. Woe is me, SO hard working... no one else works as hard as meeeeeee... Wink

MrsHamlet · 06/09/2020 21:10

Piggywaspushed · 06/09/2020 21:14

Hooray :thanks to whoever reported. It was nasty.

noblegiraffe · 06/09/2020 21:16

@WhyNotMe40

Goneril.
Omg there’s a blast from the past.

Didn’t she have loads of kids called Clementine and the like and then she ‘died’ and the ‘daughter’ came on to inform everyone?

TES was weird. There was that Sir Henry too.

noblegiraffe · 06/09/2020 21:18

Hope we’re all ready to go with remote learning www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/4016295-so-has-your-dcs-school-closed-again-due-to-positive-tests
