You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give ‘The Every twat for Themselves mob’ the staffroom password as a number of them are operating in an alternative reality.

No DfE muppets allowed

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom, especially if you have not used the hand gel. Close the door quietly on your way out and put your mask on.

As @TheHoneyBadger says, pointy sticks are excellent for a wide range of purposes, and are considered more useful than rolling boulders for disciplinary purposes.

50 has woken up on a thread. Risen from the deeps to accuse her charges' parents of being coronaphobes.

MrsHamlet · 06/09/2020 18:32

So sorry to hear your news jenny Flowers

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 06/09/2020 18:32

Who poked her with a pointed stick?

starrynight19 · 06/09/2020 18:36

So sorry Jenny Flowers

RigaBalsam · 06/09/2020 18:42

@tadjennyp

I went to see my Mum today before all the kids go back to school tomorrow in case of local lockdowns etc. They aren't going to treat her cancer.😥 So I haven't done any work yet and I am not ready for tomorrow. It will all come out in the was I suppose. I hope everyone has had as relaxing a weekend as possible. 💐
Sending Flowers Wine and Cake. So sorry to read this. Sad

That poster’s whole persona screams Troll. Someone is taking the piss, trying to upset teachers and parents and loving it. Not worth bothering about, it’s Trolling 101 and absolutely nothing they say is true.

Piggywaspushed · 06/09/2020 18:57

I poked her with a pointed stick (well I am Piggy!) and she bit!!

Apologies for mixed metaphor.

GuyFawkesDay · 06/09/2020 18:58

Oh Jenny I'm so sorry Flowers

I've done no work, because I worked til midnight 3 days last week. I am determined this year to keep a better balance in life. If I do made weeks I'm keeping weekends more work free.

Last year pre-lockdown I was really struggling (staffing issues which haven't really been solved) and I'm not going back there. No way.

If things can't be done in a 9/10 hour working day, they'll have to wait. End of.

phlebasconsidered · 06/09/2020 18:58

Oh Jenny that's so sad. Be kind to yourself. X

I have just depressed myself looking at my pension. Being part time and single with kids really did me over. Has anyone used Weslyan to help them?

noblegiraffe · 06/09/2020 19:00

Flowers Jenny, sorry to hear about your mum.

GuyFawkesDay · 06/09/2020 19:15

@phlebasconsidered no, but I think I am going to talk to them about upping my contributions to try and claw some back.

phlebasconsidered · 06/09/2020 19:22

Me too. I will do without now if necessary to be able to leave with more sooner.

tadjennyp · 06/09/2020 19:30

Thanks all. I really appreciate all your support. These threads have been a total godsend in these horrible times. 💐

NeurotrashWarrior · 06/09/2020 19:32

Glad it helps a little Jenny. Here to hand hold.

SaltyAndFresh · 06/09/2020 19:53

If you pay in more now, does your employer also contribute more, or is that a dumb question?

SaltyAndFresh · 06/09/2020 19:54

I've accrued just short of 15 years but have actually been teaching 19.

Kashtan · 06/09/2020 19:57

So sorry about your mum tadjenny. 😢

plasticboxesrock · 06/09/2020 19:58

Anyone hear Michael Morpurgo on R4 this morning?
www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000m608

"As children return to school, Michael Morpurgo questions whether we are educating our children....or programming them.
"The pandemic has found us out," Michael writes, "shown us how ridiculous and absurd and sad" is the rigidity of a system of education so dictated and dominated by endless data gathering and exams.
He argues that we must use this opportunity - where so much is up for grabs - to take a serious look at what needs to change."

He was really good.

MrsHamlet · 06/09/2020 20:03

plastic he's another of my heroes!
You've reminded me that I need to look into AVCs. I keep meaning to do it and then getting sidetracked. It reduces your tax liability too...

Augustbreeze · 06/09/2020 20:08

Re the Haverhill School: If two of their year groups haven't gone back yet, presumably they only started getting students back on Wed at the absolute earliest, so transmission unlikely to have been in school!

End of holidays/closure staff mates BBQ anyone?.....

Mistressiggi · 06/09/2020 20:09

Dh keeps talking about retiring. We have a looonnng way to go before that is possible! But I don't want to burst his dream-bubble.

Jenny I am sorry you have had such sad news, I've been there and it's just shit SadFlowers

minisoksmakehardwork · 06/09/2020 20:11

@tadjennyp, hugs. That utterly sucks.
