You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give ‘The Every twat for Themselves mob’ the staffroom password as a number of them are operating in an alternative reality.

No DfE muppets allowed

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom, especially if you have not used the hand gel. Close the door quietly on your way out and put your mask on.

Ha yes!
I used to like Packerguy though

MrsHamlet · 06/09/2020 21:19

I reported her because she's poisonous. I'm now reporting Clarence on the other thread. It's my new hobby :)

Augustbreeze · 06/09/2020 21:23

Don't know if they've NC'd but there's a couple of slightly disruptive posters I don't remember seeing before, who are suddenly on lots of Covid threads. They don't sound like U4T but one is claiming to have lots of mates in the NHS, the other quite nastily condemning anyone who doesn't believe everything the government is saying.

I'm also wondering if we should take bets on how many "My DC has a runny nose/sore throat, what shall I do?" threads can exist at any one point and whether MNHQ will get tired of them or something. Most areas haven't had a week of school yet and there's many!

Although to be fair, I'd be unsure what to do at the moment, now tests are hard to come by!

Flagsfiend · 06/09/2020 21:23

@ohthegoats

Blee - I've worked for 9 hours today, and JUST about have a handle on the week. Woe is me, SO hard working... no one else works as hard as meeeeeee... Wink
I've spent a lot of the day working. My least favourite covid rule at work is we aren't allowed to use the photocopier Sad so I've been trying to get far enough ahead that I can submit stuff for printing...
NeurotrashWarrior · 06/09/2020 21:28

Great post on that thread; "we tried to warn you...! 🤷🏻‍♀️ "

Piggywaspushed · 06/09/2020 21:37

Genuine post on local Facebook (from an NHS 'mental health worker')

We have to have halloween and trick or treat..kids have lost out on too much already..

winewolfhowls · 06/09/2020 21:37

Delurking to send virtual hugs to jenny with your sad news and Katherine hoping you are on the mend.

First actual teaching day at a new place for me tomorrow, eek.

Piggywaspushed · 06/09/2020 21:37

Oh good luck!

SaltyAndFresh · 06/09/2020 21:40

I liked leatherpatches on TES. In my head he was a cantankerous old fart.

NeurotrashWarrior · 06/09/2020 21:40

Hi wine! Good luck!

Halloween will be like brexit last year.

Some of the pumpkins had brexit carved into them round here.

The division will be those who are taking part and those who don't! It's a shame as most put on quite a show in their front gardens. It's fun to walk around looking at the latest random scary thing or light show.

DollyMixtureLulus · 06/09/2020 21:40

This attitude drives me insane. Some poor little ones have had the worst times of their lives, and no one can deny that, but the vast, vast majority have been in their warm, clean homes, with plenty of food, no school and lots of time to bumble about as they please. That's not a hardship Angry

minisoksmakehardwork · 06/09/2020 21:55

This morning there were 120 tests available over the next 5 days, 10 minutes drive from me. There's now 60 over 5 days an hour away. I'm being cynical and suspect a lot of people have been putting off getting kids tested prior to returning to school and can put it off no longer. Our area goes back tomorrow.

WhyNotMe40 · 06/09/2020 22:11

Fuck fuck fuck.
Middle child has woken up coughing.
My school will soooooo not be impressed

NeurotrashWarrior · 06/09/2020 22:14

Oh no why! Am
I remembering correctly, did you get a test for another of your children with a tummy upset?

Oh god I'm not looking forward to all this.

Piggywaspushed · 06/09/2020 22:17

Looking at the schools closing thread, they are falling like ninepins.

Not reported in the press. Funny that.

WhyNotMe40 · 06/09/2020 22:18

No I didn't get a test as she just had one explosion of diarrhoea and then was as right as rain. Especially as she didn't have any of the main symptoms.
I probably should have in hindsight. We've not been in contact with anyone outside the household though since then.

Danglingmod · 06/09/2020 22:21

I thought that, Piggy. Went onto the national media sites an hour ago. Nada. Local reporting only (like it was from June 1st - end of term) Hmm

WhyNotMe40 · 06/09/2020 22:31

Child saying she just choked on some spit..... FFS I don't know what to do - it's like always being on edge

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 06/09/2020 22:36

Local media sites saying 62 schools across the UK have cases. It does say since schools returned last week, but then mentions Scotland & Leicester so not sure if it means 62 in the last week or 62 since all schools started to go back.

MrsHerculePoirot · 06/09/2020 22:46

I’d probably assume she was telling you correctly and listen out overnight/in the morning to be sure... go with your gut whatever it tells you.
WhenSheWasBad · 06/09/2020 22:58

Complete nightmare. I’d also assume it was spit and wait till the morning.

My youngest has developed the snottiest cold imaginable. Nothing else wrong though but there’s so much snot he coughs occasionally. Temp did get to 37.2 deg but NHS says over 38 is a fever. He’s not going in tomorrow, Dh is WFH at the moment so he can stay with him.
Dh and I are not in agreement as to whether our youngest needs a test. Dh says it’s clearly just a cold and not to bother. He’s probably right but I’m a bit more cautious
(paranoid).

WhyNotMe40 · 06/09/2020 23:01

It's difficult isn't it? They get so many colds and snots normally that it is probably that, and having to make the call whether to test or not is hard when there isn't definitely one of the 3 main symptoms.

WhyNotMe40 · 06/09/2020 23:02

I've decided wrt mine that as the guidance says a new persistent cough, unless I hear more coughing then it was just a one off. If I hear coughing again, well that's my school hacked off, plus the kids. DH can work from home no problems.

MrsHerculePoirot · 06/09/2020 23:14
