You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give ‘The Every twat for Themselves mob’ the staffroom password as a number of them are operating in an alternative reality.

No DfE muppets allowed

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom. Close the door quietly on your way out

Lol I’m having a little lie down.

My ks3 timetable now has year 9 and 10 on it but the department is so nice that I don’t care.

Being with a nice department again is making me acknowledge just how outrageous the last couple of years have been. I feel like an escaped pow Grin

They have resources photocopied in filing cabinets!! Heaven.

Frlrlrubert · 01/09/2020 16:59

Our year 7s sound similar, there were one or two the SENCO was like 'this child could not access the curriculum, but parents won't have it'.

I think it's the most SEN we've ever had. 5 have EHCPs and it sounds like a couple of others should have them but don't.

Still not idea what's happening with TAs. We must DIFFERENTIATE!

Kidneybingo · 01/09/2020 17:12

I'm exhausted. That's about it.

motherrunner · 01/09/2020 17:19

Can. Not. Think. Straight.

Will check back in when my head’s stopped spinning!

Hope everyone had a good day!

MrsHamlet · 01/09/2020 17:39

People kept asking me stuff I didn't know the answer to.
I had to sit through teams training by someone who'd not really used teams and is crap at training.
At 3.40 I was notified of a significant change in policy in an area that's nothing to do with me but now seems to be my problem responsibility.
I forgot to take milk and so I've had one drink since 6am.
I need gin.
I need to write another sodding teams guide tonight.

@Augustbreeze my DC's breakfast club in Wales is opening on 14th. Tbh the Welsh Government guidance is every bit as slippery as England's in many respects - way too much discretion.

Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got til its gone
They fucked Education
And put a Gav in charge

noblegiraffe · 01/09/2020 18:27

I love it when dignified-looking older women use words like ‘clusterfuck’.

SaltyAndFresh · 01/09/2020 18:28

I'm drinking wine. Gav can kiss my ass if he thinks I'm marking exams in the summer holidays after being unpaid this year.

@TheHoneyBadger, a decent team makes all the difference. I'm willing to commute 50 mins each way for mine. Out of pure nosiness interest, how long are other commutes?

Friday will be interesting, because despite staggered starts, they all move around the building together at every lesson changeover. What do I know?!

ohthegoats · 01/09/2020 18:29

Blee - I'm not sure when we're supposed to get any learning in! It's all hand washing and rules around coats, pens and lunchboxes. Have split all the resources, have no TA support, have 3 runners and a spitter, loads of children who can't read SATPINGOCK phonics.

I don't think I care very much anymore, maybe I just need to get out of teaching. Although maybe I just feel like this every 1st September. Can't remember.

MrsHamlet · 01/09/2020 18:35

I commute 45 mins by train or an hour by car because Cumbrian roads are shit.

Piggywaspushed · 01/09/2020 18:35

What does it say about the state of MN these days that some poor innocent started a 'be nice to our teachers ' thread and as soon as I saw the title I put my head in my hands.??

WhenSheWasBad · 01/09/2020 18:37

My head hurts with too much information. And I’m still not quite sure what the plan is tomorrow.

My department are lovely, I’m sure I’ll get a lot of much needed help.

Piggywaspushed · 01/09/2020 18:38

While you were all at school today , I didn't:

Try my new dresses on
Finish my powerpoint or do nay marking I should have done
Dye my hair

I did, however, sit in the garden with my feet up no gin. Stick that in yer pipes and smoke it, bashers.

Piggywaspushed · 01/09/2020 18:40

Look East is running a slot with a bemused coach company who don't understand why they aren't SDing their school buses but have to for everything else.

Enoughnowstop · 01/09/2020 18:40

I’ll leave this here.

Let’s keep smiling!

Piggywaspushed · 01/09/2020 18:42

really, doesn't the government care about public transport companies going tits up? Apparently every other part of the economy matters.

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 01/09/2020 18:43

You didnt miss much @Piggywaspushed. The first session was the long laborious hello and moan about the DfE, second session was new rules about one way systems, SD and handgel and session 3 was faffing about with IT systems.

Did anyone see the ad on FB today telling parents if they are lift sharing to wear masks and keep a seat free. The parent commentators were bemused....but wait? they said. They are going into classrooms rammed together but in my car everyone is in danger ??

Piggywaspushed · 01/09/2020 18:45

Love the Daily Mash. Might not put it on TB threads...

DollyMixtureLulus · 01/09/2020 18:45

A very mild moan but my class are so bloody fidgety it’s driving me mad. Every time I turn around three are Tiktoking like bloody clocks 🤯

Enoughnowstop · 01/09/2020 18:46

@StaffAssociationRepresentative

That’s brilliant! I am rather fond of the original. I’ll leave that one here as well because anyone who hasn’t seen it needs to know what Ofsted actually stands for!

RigaBalsam · 01/09/2020 18:47

how long are other commutes?

I went from 3 miles with my other half 2 years ago to now less than a mile with my daughter. I really hate commuting.

Butmiss · 01/09/2020 18:47

I hope everyone's first day back went well.
I'm back in on Thursday for the start of two INSET days. What scares me the most is driving to work! I've had my car for about a month and it's been okay. I keep thinking that the code for the gate won't open or I'll hit somebody's car 😬
