Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom. Close the door quietly on your way out

If you have ice pack thingys for picnics, stick them in your freezer now. If you can't use a fridge/don't fancy using it they do the job. Maybe freeze a second water bottle to defrost ready for the afternoon. (we have access to water but I'm avoiding the staff room) I do miss the chat but I'm all about minimising the risk.

Thanks, Madeline! I do enjoy it - the feeling of satisfaction is immense when it's done, isn't it? It's certainly helped my mental state over the past few weeks. I just want it finished now, though, before Christmas!

I've hunted out my thermos flask (DH had some milky tea in it and it's been on his bedside table so long it was all cottage-cheesy when I tipped it out 🤢) so that's soaking. I've found my laptop charger, though, and put my hand gel and tissues and lunch on the side for tomorrow. I keep my lanyard in the car so I know where that is and I've had a nice shower. I even plucked my eyebrows!! Not done that since February, but can't let the side down. Got to try and sleep now. I'm tired, just need to take that plunge and turn out the light.

What the hell time is this????
Went to bed at ten, took melatonin at midnight when I still wasn't asleep, some kerfuffle woke me at 4, awake for ages, alarm at 6. Bah humbug.
I have my laptop and lunch and a fancy cake. That's all I can muster right now.

Just had my first LARGE coffee of the day. I don’t have to worry about coffee and masks because we have magic Covid walls so won’t be wearing them.

Heading out soon so can be in at 7 when the doors open so I can clear out my desk and cupboard and officially become a nomad. Have no idea where I can store my stuff though as haven’t got a workroom.

Think I’ll be avoiding all social media and news for the next few weeks. BBC leading with an article about pupils’ learning is 3 months behind. Ffs. Just leave us alone!

Apparently the 3 months behind is based on NFER research and is what actual teachers and leaders said (98% of them!)/

I do wonder when heads are included whether they actually know and also think surveys like this should be split up by age group.

I mean, in theory , had I been asked, I would say my year 11 English class are about 4 weeks 'behind' but Ofqual has stripped their exam so no worry there , my year 11 film class are about 2 months behind (panic! panic!) , my year 13s are about 6 weeks behind (but these things are content and catching it up is panic attack territory unless Ofqual properly acts)

My new years 10 classes are not really behind at all and the new intake wouldn't have been doing much this term anyway! I am more worried about them being feral and unschooled.

My term doesn’t start till tomorrow with INSET but I’ve got to go in today to deliver induction training to new staff. An easy start but I was still awake at 5am, two hours before I needed to be today. Beautiful day too - would have been nice to have still been on holiday.

Secondary schools are reopening and - in Scotland have now been open for 3 weeks - why are universities different?

I thought I was doing pretty well to be asleep by midnight.

The 3am 'Mummy........' wasn't helpful, though I did eventually get back to sleep for a bit afterwards.

Morning everyone. Good luck to all who are in school today. I'm feeling a bit jittery, which isn't something i'm used to as I usually love the start of a new school year.

I’m up. I’ve walked the dog and drinking coffee. My lanyard lives on a hook behind the front door so that’s not lost.

Just inset today so mufti and all I really need is my laptop, pen and a ton of scrap paper to scribble notes on. Nearly out of coffee so going to cheekily make a mini flask up in the staffroom whilst printing what I hope is the final draft of my timetable.

I set 3 alarms but needn’t have bothered as I was awake before them despite not being able to sleep till midnight.
