You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give ‘The Every twat for Themselves mob’ the staffroom password as a number of them are operating in an alternative reality.

No DfE muppets allowed

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom. Close the door quietly on your way out
@noblegiraffe you've made me all nostalgic about Club Penguin 😊
Grin it was the first thing that popped into head but I never actually used it!

CallmeAngelina · 31/08/2020 20:09

openplankitchen was the really loopy one who saw racism in every post. That's different from askmehowiknow, surely?

plasticboxesrock · 31/08/2020 20:10

Good luck everyone who is back tomorrow, I've got 2 inset days then the hordes on Thursday. Just lining up the bags of stuff now. Coffee in flask, sandwiches, hand gel, spray, wipes, tissues, contemplating taking a change of clothes to leave in teacher cupboard...
Wine, Flowers, Gin and Cake for you all
Halo

Piggywaspushed · 31/08/2020 20:13

askme was Daffodil

Lost track of the kitchen but posting style was vvvv similar.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 31/08/2020 20:14

Good luck for tomorrow everyone.

motherrunner · 31/08/2020 20:16

Alarm set for 5 In order to get a run in before the mania begins although as I’m feeling now I probably won’t get much sleep 😣

Bag is packed and trolley in the car. No masks or visors for me as we have magic walls.

I hope tomorrow goes well for everyone!

Augustbreeze · 31/08/2020 20:21

So feel for you all. I'm not in til Thirs either as don't do INSET.

I had thought assemblies were outlawed by t'guidance, but was rereading yesterday and it only says not recommended if it mixes bubbles, so fine at most secondaries. Whether it's sensible is entirely another matter!

noblegiraffe · 31/08/2020 20:26

I’ve just looked at the plans for the first few days and there is an interminable amount of form time. I’m barely teaching till Tuesday. I’d much rather be teaching.

KatherineOfGaunt · 31/08/2020 20:30

We have two INSET days but as I'm part-time I'm not in with the kids until Monday.

I feel like going and saying last goodbyes to my parents and in-laws until Christmas, just in case Sad

Interesting to see how a Daffodil leads to a stairway. I'm always impressed people manage to spot these things! (I used to read threads but never post. Now these people are too much!!)

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 31/08/2020 20:35

I've planned for the same amount of form time as last year (have to send requests to the techs in advance for stuff I want to demo), but I don't actually know how much there will actually be until they tell us tomorrow.

Openplan stopped posting completely, then askme started posting a day or 2 later and openplan never returned. That plus being a teacher bashing healthcare/NHS worker convinced me.

I could be completely wrong of course, but it entertained me for 5 minutes trying to work it out Grin

SaltyAndFresh · 31/08/2020 20:39

I'll have to take a Ntyol. Sleep won't be coming my way otherwise. I don't feel rested at all.

CallmeAngelina · 31/08/2020 20:41

Blimey, noble, I just took a look at the masks thread in secondary and you got a right pasting. I reported one insult, at least, and it's gone.

CallmeAngelina · 31/08/2020 20:42

Wasn't it openplan who derailed an entire thread insisting that I had dissed her and referred to her as "it."

Yes, Trust was a bit snippy at me describing the antivaxxers who sent that temp check = gun to the head letter as batshit crazy

I wonder why she might have taken that personally Hmm

fuckweasel · 31/08/2020 20:46

Don't make the mistake I made after having the usual crap night's sleep before the start of term and think it'll be fine, I'll just drink a really strong coffee during INSET, because... well, mask. Get a couple on before it starts!

NeurotrashWarrior · 31/08/2020 20:48

Good luck everyone!

I think I've remembered most things; Brain fried trying to remember all stuff for the kids. Eldest not back till 8th (like Carrie!) but a holiday club and Dh in charge is more unnerving than school tomorrow! (Inset.)

I've been thinking today that one thing I'm concerned about is that I'll be so confused by what I can and can't do that it'll interfere with teaching. Dh "helpfully" suggested I was basically baby sitting and not to worry....Hmm

(Ps I started taking taurine during lockdown and have genuinely found it bloody amazing for anxiety and sleep. Good for peri menopause apparently because it's calming and sleep supportive, with magnesium and b6.)

I am now off to use this list to prepare me for tomorrow before an early night. No wonder you're the staff rep!
CallmeAngelina · 31/08/2020 20:54

@noble It wasn't her. It was someone else I didn't recognise Whysomuchmess) accusing you of doing anything for more time off work. MNHQ agreed that it "wasn't in the spirit."

Piggywaspushed · 31/08/2020 20:55

The genegenie one is proper corona denier.

Unpleasant to everyone tbf.

CallmeAngelina · 31/08/2020 20:58

She certainly has a "tone," that's for sure. Along with Flax.

noblegiraffe · 31/08/2020 20:59

Whysomuchmess appears to be a recent namechanger. Could be any of them tbh, I think U4T and Tory HQ both have a dartboard with my name on it.

phlebasconsidered · 31/08/2020 21:03

I am now buying Taurine! I get fuck all sleep most nights through a combo of perimenopause, anxiety, snoring husband and restless legs.

namechangedyetagain · 31/08/2020 21:04

Thank you for your checklists, I've now packed my planner and written out a class list so I can scribble notes if needs be. Coffee cup is ready to be filled, new bag already bursting.

I feel very jittery indeed. Like a part of my life is over 😥
