You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give ‘The Every twat for Themselves mob’ the staffroom password as a number of them are operating in an alternative reality.

No DfE muppets allowed

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom. Close the door quietly on your way out

Interesting article, mainly because I like the quotes from the level headed kids.

But mistress what ahs happened to Scottish uniform?? Those knee high socks, that teeny tiny skits, those Converse?? My eyes!! In my day, all Scottish schools had veeeery smart uniform, all the way up to 18. Tuts and sighs.

This thread moves so fast 🤣

Bag packed, hair washed, clothes laid out. Sliding in to bed with a book as soon as DS is asleep.
Good luck and Hod speed to all for tomorrow!

An improvement, definitely, but there's still some sneaky socially-distanced classroom shots. Perhaps that's to highlight the corridor/classroom difference and so push the idea that masks aren't needed in the classroom.

I thought I recognised that Stairway, as it leads off a lovely openplankitchen. Grin

I’m in absolute denial that I’m back in tomorrow. Only for inset then students back on different days for different year groups from Wednesday onwards.

I have graduated from having a classroom with no windows to having no classroom whatsoever. (Teachers are moving to classrooms while students stay put, so that bit’s no problem but I need a separate room for intervention work and will probably end up in the broom cupboard.)

Sending much virtual gin to everyone else back in tomorrow and this week! GinFlowers

Piggywaspushed · 31/08/2020 19:37

I'm not back til Thursday....

Piggywaspushed · 31/08/2020 19:37

But it is OK because I can singlehandedly fight off the TBs with my vorpal sword and my caustic wit.

I mean, how lucky you are. So pleased for you.

MilesJuppIsMyBitch · 31/08/2020 19:39

Popping in to say GOOD LUCK to you all. Wishing you open windows, masked students and a break from the TBing on here. ThanksGin

Piggywaspushed · 31/08/2020 19:39

We then have on random day of teaching on Friday... with assemblies, natch.

Piggywaspushed · 31/08/2020 19:40

Thanks jupp. Don't get banned while everyone is shirking teaching.

Kidneybingo · 31/08/2020 19:41

Thanks Miles. I'll admit to feeling absolutely sick with anxiousness. But should be ok in a few days. Good luck to all.

Same here Piggy. Inset Thursday and Friday, first teaching day is Monday.
Piggywaspushed · 31/08/2020 19:46

Great line in Paddington 2 jus now which reminded me of how the MN denial squad view anyone at all anxious:

I've raised the neighbourhood panic level to wild hysteria.

noblegiraffe · 31/08/2020 19:46

Thanks Miles! And for your excellent support!

mumsneedwine · 31/08/2020 19:51

@noblegiraffe you've made me all nostalgic about Club Penguin 😊

MsAwesomeDragon · 31/08/2020 19:51

piggy are you having actual assemblies? Or virtual ones? Even my school, with our casual "it'll all be fine" attitude to infection control, are doing virtual assemblies via Teams.

hedgehogger1 · 31/08/2020 20:00

I'm about to go in for two barely social distanced training days. Then I work part time so no lessons til next week! We all have to sit grouped in our departments.if I was SLT I'd have split us up on the seating plan so you don't lose an entire dept if someone's positive

monkeytennis97 · 31/08/2020 20:00

Good luck everyone for tomorrow! Am bricking it. Will be wearing a mask and have face shield too (and bringing in my alcohol gel and alcohol spray and wipes). Saw channel 4 news earlier with some union guy on it saying if people are 'forced' back into offices they may ballot for industrial action... keep thinking why didn't the teaching unions do this in June or whenever the September openings were put forward. Oh well, wishing everyone lots of ventilation and masked colleagues and pupils WineGin

CarrieBlue · 31/08/2020 20:01

not back until 7th, no kids until 9th

Sorry 😐

Piggywaspushed · 31/08/2020 20:05
