You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give ‘The Every twat for Themselves mob’ the staffroom password as a number of them are operating in an alternative reality.

No DfE muppets allowed

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom. Close the door quietly on your way out

@MsAwesomeDragon - congrats! I might just have to breathe in or not eat for a fortnight.

I've been getting so worried about other things I haven't given much thought to clothes! What if nothing fits?

MsAwesomeDragon · 30/08/2020 21:23

staff it's because I've gone low carb in an effort to get my diabetes under control. And one of the tablets they've given me for the diabetes has the unfortunate side effect of making me burp for hours after eating a meal with a normal amount of carbs ☹️. It's genuinely not worth the discomfort of eating a plate full of pasta/a chocolate bar/cake. I'm still technically obese, but only 3lbs to go til I tip over into just overweight instead. I should be able to do that in the next couple of weeks. Then I'll be at my lightest since 10yo dd was conceived.

monkeytennis97 · 30/08/2020 21:23

@Kidneybingo

I'd kill for a sabbatical. I'm over 25 years in. I think it'd rejuvenate me nicely.

MsAwesomeDragon · 30/08/2020 21:24

kidney try it all on tonight, then you've got tomorrow to shop for more of none of it fits. Most of mine came from ASDA, although my dresses came from mountain warehouse.

DollyMixtureLulus · 30/08/2020 21:25

I had a 'working from home day' last week because we're banking up our NCCT. It was bliss. I slept in, went out for a coffee and worked my way through my to-do list.

I'd love a sabbatical. I'd go travelling.

Good for you - I've got 10lb to go before I tip into the overweight category from obese. Can't wait- have lost 58lbs now so far on lockdown Smile
DollyMixtureLulus · 30/08/2020 21:26

Even more fun than the wardrobe search is the great lanyard hunt and the 'ffs, what IS my password' game... Wink

Good idea. It's tempting to put it off, but dangerous!

That sounds so hard. You've done amazingly well to stick to it.
MsAwesomeDragon · 30/08/2020 21:28

Well done monkey!!!! That's an amazing weight loss. You must feel so much better for it!! Have you had to buy a new work wardrobe as well then? You must have dropped 2/3 sizes with that big a loss.

HedyPrism · 30/08/2020 21:30

All my work clothes come from EBay. I did get a pair of trousers in M&S this week though. I now have 6 wardrobes- formal work and casual in 'ideal size', teacher work and casual in a bit bigger than ideal size and a new wafty summer wardrobe and teaching wardrobe in current 'I have never been this big before' size.
At least the shoes are consistent for all of them.
I love clothes.

MsAwesomeDragon · 30/08/2020 21:31

dolly you've just reminded me that I honestly have no clue where my lanyard is!!! And keys to my classroom/the textbook cupboard. I do know all my passwords though, because I have a system.

Yes have dropped 3 sizes but no haven't been shopping yet... have a myriad of sizes in my wardrobe from size 8-22 so I can find quite a few things in 14/16 now Smile
Piggywaspushed · 30/08/2020 21:41

Well, Boden just sent me 20% off and a £10 off birthday discount plus I had £10 credit mysteriously in my account so I got two actual not in sale Boden dresses for £80.

Therapy. Almost want to go back.

Danglingmod · 30/08/2020 21:47

That's bargainous, Piggy!

I definitely know all my passwords...having been working through the summer enough to have needed them regularly

MrsHamlet · 30/08/2020 21:48

That's good shopping, Piggy
I've tried on none of my work clothes but I know which shoes I'm wearing. It was ever thus 😂

Danglingmod · 30/08/2020 21:50

I need to polish my shoes so at least that bit of me looks smart Grin (they are quite dusty).

Frlrlrubert · 30/08/2020 21:52

I test drove my keys and passwords last week when I went in to clear my desk for fogging.

I've only been there two years so I've not accumulated too much stuff yet - the guy next door way moving rooms after 16 years - I reckon he must have needed to be in every day for two weeks.

My lanyard is on top of my wardrobe (where DH puts things I have left where they don't belong Blush).

MrsHamlet · 30/08/2020 21:52

@Danglingmod I just buy new ones instead!!

Danglingmod · 30/08/2020 21:55

Haha! I like your style! (I also like owning about a dozen different pairs of work shoes so replacing them all would be £££££) Grin

MrsHamlet · 30/08/2020 21:58

I have a lot of shoes. They have their own showcase. Very few of them could be described as "work shoes" but I wear them to work because they make me happy and my bank manager unhappy! My clothes may be too tight but my feet will be glorious!

MsAwesomeDragon · 30/08/2020 22:01

I am very envious of anyone who has many pairs of lovely shoes. My feet are short and wide, so nice shoes don't fit me ☹️ I end up with either granny shoes from hotter or kids school shoes from Clark's usually. It's getting better in recent years as more shops are doing wide fitting shoes, but I actually need extra wide fit, which are less widely available. I do currently have a pair of shoes (startrite Blush) and a pair of boots that fit, so I'm doing well.

MrsHamlet · 30/08/2020 22:03

I have boat feet. I'm pretty sure I could waterski with just my feet. If I liked water, that is.

MsAwesomeDragon · 30/08/2020 22:14

My feet are size 3 mega wide, but I normally wear size 5 extra wide. They literally don't make shoes for square feet like mine, lol. I don't like heels either, so that further limits what I can get, and sends me towards granny shoes. I'm embracing the frumpy middle aged look. I haven't even had a haircut since lockdown, so I'm looking even more frumpy than usual Blush
