You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff. Baiters and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here only if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to beat us with then please do so elsewhere and not in the staffroom

Appu those are amazing results congratulations to you and your dd

MsAwesomeDragon · 20/08/2020 09:27

Well done miniAppu!!! Those are brilliant results!! 🎉🎉

Good luck piggyJr 🤞

I didn't have any year 11 this year so no results for me to look at. I'm very glad not to have that stress this year.

WhenSheWasBad · 20/08/2020 09:28

And piggy great results. Congratulations

MsAwesomeDragon · 20/08/2020 09:28

Those are great too piggy. You must be happy with them!!

Kashtan · 20/08/2020 09:38

Well done to piggy and appu jnrs. The much famed algorithm has put some of our FT students on a 65 😳

noblegiraffe · 20/08/2020 09:50

Well done Piggy DS, especially on the music...I remember there were issues with the teacher(!) Grin

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 20/08/2020 09:50

Well done @Piggywaspushed and @Appuskidu minis

I am deflecting all CAG queries back to SLT. There is a boy with a 7 who I gave a 5 because he was typical bright but lazy. So unfair on a hardworking lad who has been marked down as his grades in English and maths weren’t good.

Fighting with Head of Sixth as I want the level 5 boy at A level not the level 7 one!

Jeez! I am so cross

Annoyed by several grades given to kids in my class. Including one girl who got 8/9 on all assessments except her latest one and has been dropped down to a 6. She will be so upset. I like the way it's all "teachers know kids best" but at my school we didn't even get a say

hedgehogger1 · 20/08/2020 10:03

Yay to @Appuskidu and @Piggywaspushed great results :)

Kashtan · 20/08/2020 10:05

We didn’t get a say apart from the very odd student for GCSE at all. Fortunately we are also to refer all Qs back to slt. Not sure what happens when we are back in September and get asked verbally in the corridor

flumposie · 20/08/2020 10:06

The algorithm pushed my two 8s up to 9s and a 7 up to 8. Whilst I am delighted for these 3 pupils I feel bad for the 2 pupils who I was made to put down to fit the data. I'd rather everyone had just got the grades I'd originally given.

hedgehogger1 · 20/08/2020 10:07

On another note just seen that express article hasn't released the results of the "is school safe" poll. Does it normally take that long or have they been silenced?

MrsHerculePoirot · 20/08/2020 10:14

Ours got downgraded after our grades got run through every system going and compared to previous years and prior attainment/KS2/GCSE etc... feel so sorry for those students and those grades are not teacher grades at all.

Well done on those amazing results @Appuskidu and @Piggywaspushed!

DreamingofBrie · 20/08/2020 10:19

Well done to Piggy and Appu's dc!

We've also had a standard letter from our SLT which has gone into all results envelopes this morning. They had a number of parent complaints after A-level CAGs were given last week so are prepared for today.

Iamnotthe1 · 20/08/2020 10:22

Well done Piggy and Appu dc!

One of my friends just messaged with her daughters results - the girl has been so worried about the impact of the algorithm before it was u-turned. She's done brilliantly (thank goodness).

NeurotrashWarrior · 20/08/2020 10:25

Well done Appu and Piggy jrs! What a relief!

Yes, I think we'll all be kicking and screaming in September.

Saucery · 20/08/2020 10:27

Well done to everyone’s dc who have made it through their results ok.

noblegiraffe · 20/08/2020 10:33

Have Ofqual reverted to their original appeals criteria? They don’t seem to have anything on their website after mock-gate.

phlebasconsidered · 20/08/2020 10:34

Will it hit the waverers worse? Those who wobble 3/4 or 4/5? They're the ones I worry about - it can really impact on their prospects.

RigaBalsam · 20/08/2020 10:36

Well done mini Piggy and Appu.

We have been emailed the results and as above have to refer any queries to SLT.

Some of my grades have been lowered. Was a stronger cohort this year but oh well.

A pupil has emailed me already asking what they could do to get a 9. Sighhh.

BelleSausage · 20/08/2020 11:27

Gah! School have locked remote access to SIMs and SISRA! Am not keen enough to actually go in!

Appuskidu · 20/08/2020 11:28

Thank you everyone for the lovely messages! She’s staying on at the school to do 4 A levels and can’t wait. It’s been a stressful week, am going to try to switch off now before the next school-related shitstorm no doubt kicks off!

Well done @Piggy as well-hooray! Xx

Piggywaspushed · 20/08/2020 11:58

You too appu !

Well.. what I have learnt today...

Ofqual/exam boards had more faith in me than my SLT.

Of 400 Eng Lang grades, two students had their put up, both mine. One pf these was definitely moderated down by SLT (with eff all evidence to do so!) and algorithm put her back up!!

In terms of my option subject, I was basically forced to really reduce my 9-4 and 9-5 % below what I thought and Eduqas obviously liked what they saw from last year and put it all up by 17% at 9-5!!

Hmmmmm....
