You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff. Baiters and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here only if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to beat us with then please do so elsewhere and not in the staffroom

We're back on the first, bit Leicestershire schools always go back a week before most of England (and a couple of schools local to me do, too, with a two week October half term). FE College back next week, too.

This year is one of the biggest gaps from GCSE results to beginning of term I can remember. One year, results day was after the Leicestershire schools (and our anomalous ones) had gone back, so kids start back (or at college) not knowing if they can commence a certain course or not.

Piggywaspushed · 20/08/2020 07:50

Rewound it : he said the algorithm did not disadvantage disadvantaged students - but it did in Scotland.

I REALLY hope the BBC run a fact check on that!!

Oh... but wait... they've shredded the moderated grades...

TheHoneyBadger · 20/08/2020 07:52

Good luck everyone in school today. We’re not allowed in and all queries are being handled by a few people.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 20/08/2020 07:52

@Piggywaspushed

He is flailing about BTecs.

They have missed this issue all along haven't they? It took ages back in April to say what plans were.

Someone on Twitter has brought up the issue of external candidates so once they’ve stuck a sticking plaster on the BTecs I’m guessing that’ll be the next issue they didn’t see coming.
Piggywaspushed · 20/08/2020 08:04

OK, so Ofqual put approx 30% of my film GCSEs up!! One in the eye for SLT.

countdowntonap · 20/08/2020 08:05

Good luck everyone in school today. We’re not allowed in and all queries are being handled by a few people. wish I was in your boat!
ALL staff have been asked to come in to the room where results are being collected, and we have a few local outbreaks Grin

WhenSheWasBad · 20/08/2020 08:07

Good luck piggy junior

Danglingmod · 20/08/2020 08:08

Ha! Brilliant, Piggy!

That's bonkers, Countdown (though, is it? We are all back to normal very soon...)

tadjennyp · 20/08/2020 08:10

Good luck piggy junior.
I am at the other end of the country so wouldn't be able to go in if I were asked to. I can't believe you have to countdown .
Well done on the film results.

TheHoneyBadger · 20/08/2020 08:14

Don’t forget to fill out your overtime request Wink

MrsHamlet · 20/08/2020 08:18

Hooray Piggy!!!
We had one grade change in the whole cohort. Very odd.
Thanks to SISRA, I am informed without leaving my bed!

NeurotrashWarrior · 20/08/2020 08:30

Good luck all in school today and what a shit show, once again!

Good luck piggy jr!

Thanks for that perspective @WhyNotMe40, yes you're right, if it's at that level bagging clothes won't help. That's probably more appropriate for an actual hospital ward. Hands and faces, shoes and coats.

He really did have a lovely day; sadly I've had to carry him screaming all the way to nursery, more because he's furious he can't do his usual lazy pootling about as has become the custom. I feel terrible as I could have made it a smoother transition and pissed off with Dh for giving "helpful advice" but not actually helping.

NeurotrashWarrior · 20/08/2020 08:32

I go back a week before ds who is in a different LEA, as if 5 months at home wasn't enough! He's back on the 8th sept!

MrsHamlet · 20/08/2020 08:34

I might scream all the way to school on the first in solidarity @NeurotrashWarrior. I'm sure the 45 minute train journey will be much improved by that. And getting up at 6 is going to be very hard :(

Piggywaspushed · 20/08/2020 08:38

It's not a surprise about the film but I feel smug.

Can't see the CAGs for English!

Off to get DS's..

noblegiraffe · 20/08/2020 08:44

Ah crap, school downgraded some of my CAGs and I am disappointed for the kids.

Good luck for DS, Piggy!

Iamnotthe1 · 20/08/2020 08:46

That's shit, noble. Any justification?

WhyNotMe40 · 20/08/2020 08:47

Good luck PiggyJr

Neurotrash I feel for you. I always felt really rotten when I had to force mine into childcare, even though I could see they were happy again very quickly.

MrsHamlet · 20/08/2020 08:48

Several of mine were downgraded too. SISRA helpfully shows the many stages of the process from late March to submission.

Hercwasonaroll · 20/08/2020 08:50

CAGs downgraded here too by SLT, frustrating but we'll never know what could have been.

Appuskidu · 20/08/2020 08:56

GCSEs back here for DD-all good, phew! Mostly 8s with a handful of 9s Smile.

noblegiraffe · 20/08/2020 08:56

To fit the data, I guess, iam. But, they were good kids and I think the school didn’t take into account that I generally get better results than expected with my classes (modest Hmm )

noblegiraffe · 20/08/2020 08:58

Wow, well done Appu DD, that’s amazing! What’s she doing next year?

tadjennyp · 20/08/2020 09:01

Well done Appu's DD. Sorry about that noble . Very frustrating.

Piggywaspushed · 20/08/2020 09:26

9 for RS (LOL) 8s for history , Lit , Spanish and business , 7s for science, maths and English and a 5 for the benighted music.

Relieved.
