You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff. Baiters and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here only if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to beat us with then please do so elsewhere and not in the staffroom

Just out of curiosity when do you all return to schools? I know Scotland is back but England (presumably Wales and NI too) are later, right? Most schools in Ireland return next week and the anxiety levels around the country are flying up.

One of our high up gombeens (the bloody Minister for Health) compared opening schools to using trampolines earlier today and the Education Minister is nowhere to be seen. Total shambles of a situation.

I was in denial! Have just realised it's next Thursday!

Surely there is usually more than a week between GCSE results and back to work? Shit. Have done no planning for entire new subject to teach. It seemed a good idea at the time...

Panic over! Not next Thursday!!

Mistressiggi · 20/08/2020 06:38

Wow, @SionnachRua that video is terrible.
I get the whole car accident thing but one person having a car accident in my school doesn't increase the likelihood that 5 other people have a car accident a week later, which the virus does.

Piggywaspushed · 20/08/2020 06:41

More 4 Less did something on this obsession with the car accident thing yesterday. Haven't listened yet but it's also about algorithms so should be good!

Piggywaspushed · 20/08/2020 06:42

Or!

Piggywaspushed · 20/08/2020 06:44

So today is Piggy Jr's results!!🤞

Of course! There's no magic money tree except for when we want to give money to our bloody mates! They are acting like they believe they aren't going to be elected again and so are just taking every opportunity to funnel public money into their mates' (and their own) hands.

Good luck Piggy Jr Grin

MrsHamlet · 20/08/2020 07:02

Good luck Piggy junior!
We're back on the first with kids starting on the 3rd and everyone back from the 7th.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 20/08/2020 07:04

They are nothing if not predictable. The amount of money that’s gone to these companies with nothing to show in return is phenomenal.

BelleSausage · 20/08/2020 07:13

Good Morning!

Welcome to what I am calling ‘hold on to your butts day’. When I get to find out exactly what the fuck my students got after the CAG process.

Very much looking forward to all the parental complaints. Was very cheered to find that the deputy head is expecting so many that he has drafted a standard reply letter for us all!

Ickabog · 20/08/2020 07:18

Good luck Piggy Jr

Today is another day and another chance to show what a shit show this has been. Wishing everyone luck and lots of alcohol to get though what is likely to be a challenging day.

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 20/08/2020 07:22

Ffs the Head has called to say there were some adjustments after dept had spent ages on sorting the grades.

Grabbing a Nero coffee and don’t want to go into school now

I'm going to spend most of the day driving. I was away last year for both results days and felt so guilty. This year, I'm heartily relieved.

Oh great! The unelected Dominic Cummings fingerprints are on this shit show as well - no surprise there!

I know. I know. ..... going to amble down the road now

Nick Gibb on BBC.

Increasingly a menacing figure.
Thanks exam boards.

Not us. Never thanked us or said sorry.

Piggywaspushed · 20/08/2020 07:35

Oh.. new word 'we decided to upgrade GCSEs and A Levels'...

Ickabog · 20/08/2020 07:39

Did Nick Gibb just say "we always listen to feedback"

and with a straight face as well.

Confused
Piggywaspushed · 20/08/2020 07:40

He is flailing about BTecs.

They have missed this issue all along haven't they? It took ages back in April to say what plans were.

Piggywaspushed · 20/08/2020 07:41

Oh how I love Charlie Stayt.❤😍

Piggywaspushed · 20/08/2020 07:42

He didn't say from whom ickabog to be fair....

motherrunner · 20/08/2020 07:43

Just about the head into school - stomach churning!

Ickabog · 20/08/2020 07:45

Fair point Piggy

He's really struggling in this interview. Grin

Piggywaspushed · 20/08/2020 07:47

Did he just blame the algorithm , and Scotland?
