You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff. Baiters and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here only if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

Riga my mate's fence has blown down (up here in my bit of the NE) and she's gutted, council will remove but not replace soon.

Ahh that's rubbish. The wind is very strong and constant echoing around the house.

RigaBalsam · 23/05/2020 12:26

On another note I can't believe some people are defending Dominic. Just goes to show the lack of joined up thinking and the sychopantic need to defend tha government no matter what.

Mistressiggi · 23/05/2020 12:30

I've just got a new fence so it had better stay up! Having a work free day today. My union did a survey which highlighted that staff found the separation of home life/work life very difficult. No shit.

Mistressiggi · 23/05/2020 12:32

Cummings makes what the Scottish chief medical officer was sacked for seem almost insignificant. Amazed he's going for the "I did nothing wrong" approach. Actually I'm not amazed, it is sheer arrogance which he has plenty of.

Mistressiggi · 23/05/2020 12:32

"of which he has plenty" in case any English teachers reading Blush

TheHoneyBadger · 23/05/2020 12:37

Very windy here too for the second day. Sounds like it’s the whole of England. I’m middle-ish.

CarrieBlue · 23/05/2020 12:42

Windy in Yorkshire, we’re attending scout camp virtually (loads of activity ideas which I may pinch for later use!) and I’m crocheting too!

I feel guilty for doing nothing though - wfh means I can’t separate school and home so I feel like I ought to be doing something Confused

MossWalk · 23/05/2020 12:53

Hello all. I’m restraining myself from the AIBU about the child in a hub soiling themself.

minisoksmakehardwork · 23/05/2020 13:05

@Moss. I didn't! Although I am resisting from posting further as it's just going to end in a bunfight between the currently reality and normal scenario guidance. I have become stunned at the complete disconnect from current reality that some people have. I saw last night or maybe early this morning the post about the NHS worker who was reported to have complained that the takeaway hadn't taken payment properly. Made a change from teachers getting roasted.

Asuitablecat · 23/05/2020 13:06

I fold the kitchen table up to separate work from home. We have tea on.our knees by t h e telly.

Brilliant washing day - sunny and windy. As long as it stays on the line long enough.

pfrench · 23/05/2020 13:31

That's my current classroom. Gah.

pfrench · 23/05/2020 13:32

Impossible to separate home and work when that's your family room table.

ChloeDecker · 23/05/2020 13:55

A little bit of light relief for you all. We all know that when a poster says they have had no contact from a school, there is usually more to it! Some kids have played a blinder during this lockdown! Grin

pfrench that's my table- give or take a. Cat or two!

Hello all. I’m restraining myself from the AIBU about the child in a hub soiling themself.

Has the OP come back?! Usually a sign!

MossWalk · 23/05/2020 14:40

I’m not even looking, it’ll surely be 8 pages of 💩 by now.

I’m having my tea with a slice of Co Op Salted Caramel cake- delicious. Can recommend it fully. Meanwhile my neighbour is working out in her garden 😳🐷

Leodot · 23/05/2020 14:59

@MossWalk

I don’t really have anything useful to add to this thread other than to say the the Co-op salted caramel cake is one of the best things I’ve ever eaten!!

Happy half term everyone! Hope you all get some sort of rest. My school aren’t providing work over half term, so I’m switching off my laptop for a few days and am going to try and get my book finished for book club on Sunday!

minisoksmakehardwork · 23/05/2020 16:04

You're right Moss. OP has been back to ask what would happen if she hadn't have been able to get there. Resisted the urge to reply they would have called the second, or third contact. Some people just don't want to get it I think.

No more school work for my little cherubs this weekend. Although I am going to try and get them to catch up a little next week, just stuff they were struggling on. DD1 has deadlines for next week but as long as she meets them, Im not going to sit her down with the rest like I do during term time.

Salted caramel cake sounds good @Ledot. I made cheesecake yesterday and my girls are currently baking shortcake biscuits. They are lovely once cooled for a couple of minutes... I'm not sure there will be any left to decorate!

cheesecurdsandgravy · 23/05/2020 16:21

I see your salted caramel cake and I raise you salted caramel millionaires shortbread... 😋

Currently building DS 3rd birthday present. Give me strength.

TheHoneyBadger · 23/05/2020 17:10

Coop cakes are surprisingly lovely. I’m not really a cake person but I could—inhale— eat a slice of their salted caramel cake. I love Haagen Dazs salted caramel ice cream and it’s half price at Tesco at the minute. It took a lot of self restraint not to add it to my delivery basket.

Danglingmod · 23/05/2020 17:17

My top three shop bought (round, boxed £3ish)cakes:

Coop salted caramel
Tesco toffee apple cake
M&S blackberry fool

MsAwesomeDragon · 23/05/2020 17:38

I love coop cakes. They are a staple at work, as the go to birthday cake in our department. We have 11 people in our department and everyone brings a cake for their birthday, even if the birthday is in the holidays. It's nice to know we never have more than a few weeks til the next 🍰. Sometimes people being cake just because it's a hard week. I love my department ❤️ Of course, now I'm diabetic I'm not supposed to eat them, but I do because I'm crap.

MossWalk · 23/05/2020 17:55

Dangling they all sound excellent!

HedyPrism · 23/05/2020 18:04

Yum cake. We have a Lidl carrot cake here. Not sure about the walnuts but absolutely not complaining!
