You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff. Baiters and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here only if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

Cummings links to school policy ate well known. All policies are essentially his. Horrific influencer.

I really didn't know that. Explains the primary history curriculum.

NeurotrashWarrior · 23/05/2020 09:11

loved ISAGE yesterday but their impact ahs been to confuse. I am sure their choice of name is rather dissembling

Yep Dh didn't believe me that that was what they were called!.

NeurotrashWarrior · 23/05/2020 09:12

Brilliant news about Michael Rosen! Gosh he's had a very bad run. It will take him a long time to recover.

FlamingoAndJohn · 23/05/2020 09:14

I had no idea about Micheal Rosen. He’s been in hospital a long time.

Piggywaspushed · 23/05/2020 09:20

I think a lot of employers are forcing people back after 2 weeks even if they still feel unwell. I can certainly see that happening in schools.

Because, unless you have had it, you think it's a few days of illness and then right as rain.

TheHoneyBadger · 23/05/2020 09:31

No blue blazers here cheese. Guess we’re not the only school with the head mysteriously jumping ship. Apparently he was very busy with the shredder before he left.

minisoksmakehardwork · 23/05/2020 09:34

That is brilliant news about Michael Rosen. Hopefully he will continue to recover well. They reckon ICU recovery is a month for every week you have been in there. DH has a colleague who is in an induced coma in ICU with covid and if he were to leave this week, he would already be looking at nearly a year to be back to normal.

I have emailed my manager rather than my group manager to ask how things are going to work for us going back with the pupils, between lessons and key-worker support as an LSA I've been made aware of a plan to help our more challenging pupils return to school safely and effectively.

minisoksmakehardwork · 23/05/2020 09:42

@Mistressiggi - sounds like Teams multiple choice could be great for an improvement in spelling then... I was shocked when our primary school ditched the weekly spelling test. Although I do believe strongly that the wider we read and the more we read, the better our spelling is as we get used to seeing the words written down.

echt · 23/05/2020 09:45

Good news about Michael Rosen, but my God what a long time in ICU.

A splendid chap.

Asuitablecat · 23/05/2020 10:04

I keep wondering if I.know any of you lot in real life- probably a fairly good chance. Not that I'm going digging.Grin

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 23/05/2020 10:31

@Mistressiggi - ooh I shall incorporate the one word answer. Good tip.

Quite frankly I will be rolling this all out again to next year’s lot as well.

We have a little Teams staff session at the end of the week to share tips and tricks, and yesterday I learned how to integrate Kahoot! with Teams, so you can set one as an assignment. It looks like fun and my KS3 kids have really enjoyed doing the Kahoots as part of the lesson.

Asuitablecat · 23/05/2020 10:48

Windy as buggery here. Looks glorious, but no chance of sitting out. Might get a trampoline on my head.

NeurotrashWarrior · 23/05/2020 10:52

V windy here in the north east but we are attempting a walk soon.

MsAwesomeDragon · 23/05/2020 10:56

V windy here too, and it keeps raining on and off. I shall be staying in and crocheting today Grin

Asuitablecat · 23/05/2020 11:00

We have to do a walk cos it's too windy to cycle. We're not allowed to drive to walk, so trying to work out a vaguely interest ing walk from our house.

DreamingofBrie · 23/05/2020 11:13

Windy here too in the north west. The leg snapped off our trampoline net last night.
MsAwesomeDragon, I'm crocheting too Smile.

echt · 23/05/2020 11:13

Is it like this?:o

A mild late autumn evening here in Melbourne.

RigaBalsam · 23/05/2020 11:15

V windy here in the north east but we are attempting a walk soon.

Very windy indeed here. I am going to attempt a run but not sure.

pfrench · 23/05/2020 11:38

I'm so glad we've got a grey day. I want to stay indoors and do indoor stuff. When it's sunny I have guilt about staying in.

We're having garden furniture delivered today, which probably means we're responsible for the weather turning. Typical!

CallmeAngelina · 23/05/2020 11:41

Here in the South, it's forecast to cheer up in the next hour or two.
And then get lovely for the next week or so.
Hmm, lots more parties out in parks and on beaches for all those who think we teachers are fussing about nothing.
Just had a nose in the "support for those of us sending our kids back" thread and pissed off at the number of people who appear to be sending their Yr 6 kids back so they can have a jolly with their mates.

tadjennyp · 23/05/2020 11:46

Just caught up on the thread. Had a day in school yesterday; my last in fact so it was a bit sad. Had lots of lovely messages from my form and some of their parents. Skyped with my department and year team too. Goodness knows what it will be like with my new school. Could at least do with an email address!
Good to hear about Michael Rosen. Gutted about Noble. So well-informed, unlike most of the teacher bashers round here.

SansaSnark · 23/05/2020 12:15

Dominic Cummings wrote a "private thesis" for the DfE about how IQ is directly linked to genetics. I haven't read it, but some parts are outright eugenicist stuff.

He shouldn't be allowed anywhere near government, and one can only conclude that as he is, Boris shares his ideas.

pinkrocker · 23/05/2020 12:17

pfrench anything nice? I'm looking for garden furniture but everything I like is ££s, like over a grand!
Riga my mate's fence has blown down (up here in my bit of the NE) and she's gutted, council will remove but not replace soon.
There's a plastic bag that's blown down into my chimney, which of course is sealed up from the bottom so the rustling of it wakes me up a lot. Wind gives me bad headaches and makes me edgy and unsettled, I know why kids behave like they do when it's windy!
