You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff. Baiters and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here only if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

I thought she had just namechanged, that is sad. She talks a lot of sense.
I've just engaged with two "fellow" teachers on two different threads who have both implied we are being paid to sit at home - O actually had to go back and check both threads to see I hadn't posted my replies to the wrong posters. Wondering now if some people are telling fairy tales?

FrippEnos · 22/05/2020 18:42

Piggywaspushed

I had wondered what had happened to noble.

that is a big loss for us all and MN.

FrippEnos · 22/05/2020 18:44

Mistressiggi

I think that there are several posters pretending to be teachers, and several pretending to be nurses/medical professionals.

Piggywaspushed · 22/05/2020 18:44

Hopefully she'll be back.

Piggywaspushed · 22/05/2020 18:45

I can't find threads about the Sage evidence specifically

mumsneedwine · 22/05/2020 18:49

I have just logged off Teams after 9.5 hours on it today. I am not going near it for a week.

RigaBalsam · 22/05/2020 18:51

There are two threads there but they joined up when posted.

reefedsail · 22/05/2020 18:54

Oh what! Noblegiraffe left! Sad

How will I get my educational news now???

NeurotrashWarrior · 22/05/2020 18:55

Oh no, Nobel left?!? Sad that's a big loss.

NeurotrashWarrior · 22/05/2020 18:59

Still stressing about September and wondering how a PGCE would look. And if I should put it off and talk myself out of it ... still don't think I'm good enough. Is that normal???

Imposter syndrome! You'll make an excellent teacher! One of the best compliments I had was that I was 'reflective' in that I am always looking for ways to get better at teaching (as I never think I'm good enough!)

SansaSnark · 22/05/2020 19:12

Very sad to hear that nobel has left- I feel like she has been on mumsnet forever, and I'm sure she will be missed.

Asuitablecat · 22/05/2020 19:20

Evening all. I was a proper teacher today, with a badge and everything, so have just been catching up. Can't believe some heads! Well I can, becaue I've worked for 2 like that.

I have learned today that:
Kids will not sd in.the lunch queue
Kids will.not sd on.the yard
Kids will not wash their hands unless specifically directed
It's hard to help a kid from.2m away if you're pointing things to them

TheHoneyBadger · 22/05/2020 19:21

It does sound as if my school is being fairly decent. HT walked out with no notice and the lady left holding the bag seems to be doing amazingly well considering she’s having a true baptism of fire.

Lots of parent and staff surveys and lots of reassurance that safety for students, staff and wider community comes first.

I’m surprised as staff surveys last year showed horrible levels of well being amongst staff and feelings of not being treated with respect or kindness by colleagues or slt. Maybe I should be celebrating the head walking out without warning

reefedsail · 22/05/2020 19:29

Is it an excuse to buy a laser pointer, or will that burn their eyeballs out?

SansaSnark · 22/05/2020 19:29

@TheHoneyBadger poor lady left in charge having to deal with all of this!

BTW, I've heard from a relatively credible source that exam boards are considering looking at arrangements for next year's exams BUT they are concerned about making them seem "easier/lesser" so it may not happen. Apparently no announcements are likely until they've got this year's all sorted, though.

reefedsail · 22/05/2020 19:32

Look, this laser pointer gives feedback!

Asuitablecat · 22/05/2020 19:36

Do you get the free kitten?

pinkrocker · 22/05/2020 19:54

I got the email about going back. Not everyone is required. Unless we get more kids later in the term and we need a second bubble. Wonder if that will then change the rota? Would not like to have to plan all this!

Piggywaspushed · 22/05/2020 20:06

I know I should believe anything now but I cannot believe the DfE has STILL not released any guidance for years 10 and 12, hence allowing another shitstorm to develop.

MsAwesomeDragon · 22/05/2020 20:14

It's appalling isn't it piggy. It's now half term in England (and Wales? But not Scotland), so there is absolutely no time at all for plans to be confirmed before the 1st June date that some schools and some parents are apparently planning for.

WhyNotMe40 · 22/05/2020 20:19

I keep thinking my opinion of this government can't get any lower...

WhyNotMe40 · 22/05/2020 20:20

I think my head was waiting on the guidance to let us all know, and now I'm scared to even check my emails!

namechangedyetagain · 22/05/2020 20:26

@WhyNotMe40 and @NeurotrashWarrior thank you! I wonder if other teachers would say I'm ok to get rid of me? Or if course providers would say I'm ok to fail me?

I LOVE being with the children but I know that's not everything. Am very scared about making the jump!

RigaBalsam · 22/05/2020 20:30

Namechange just make the jump you may surprise yourself.

Someone at the sun clearly wants us ti go back theres about 5 stories all spectacularly missing what the SAGE advice says.
