You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff. Baiters and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here only if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

Angela Rayner has rather played into Tory bots hands by reporting ISage as if it's SAGE, conveniently allowing them to pick on her, and ignore what ACTUAL SAGE said.

Brilliant distraction.

SansaSnark · 22/05/2020 17:33

@phlebasconsidered Can you get your union involved? I'd argue the school are breaking DfE guidelines too.

The BBC are fast becoming Boris' Bootlicking Corporation.

RigaBalsam · 22/05/2020 17:41

Phlebas agree about the union.

Piggywaspushed · 22/05/2020 17:41

Are we entitled to ask to see risk assessments?

Appuskidu · 22/05/2020 17:47

Yes, @piggy

Union advice is to fill in the NEU checklist for your school and email it to your head and the NEU and say you don’t feel it is safe to reopen and ask for their risk assessment.

phlebasconsidered · 22/05/2020 17:52

I am emailing them now. Advised the teachers with young kids who also got "got" for "failing"to find childcare to for the same. I thought I couldn't get more appalled by the SLT at school, but I was wrong. Am alternately fuming / crying and drinking now.

HedyPrism · 22/05/2020 17:54

Hello again all. Gosh these threads move fast. I am making bread and listening to 6Music instead of doing my PGCE directed tasks or final assignment. Hmm.

Confirmation today from University that we definitely wouldn't be back in schools before the end of our PGCE year Sad. They had hoped that there would be the possibility in mid-June. I am hoping I can have some time in my NQT school in July.

starrynight19 · 22/05/2020 17:54

Really sorry to hear about schools that aren’t being supportive.
We have been asked to forward all our concerns and they will be presented to the governors by our head.
Update on the child whose parent sent them in when they had a positive diagnosis. The child has tested positive so the school is now closed for 14 days. Sad

pfrench · 22/05/2020 17:58

All staff at my school has had the risk assessment - it's 27 pages long!

WhyNotMe40 · 22/05/2020 18:09

Wow! That's some risk assessment

WhyNotMe40 · 22/05/2020 18:10

Starrynight - there really should be some legal come back on that parent, or I can see lots of parents doing the same. We all know how hideous it is to look after your kids when you're ill and I bet it's tempting to send them to school.

RaraRachael · 22/05/2020 18:11

Angry BBC Bitesize not providing stuff next week as it's half term.

Dear BBC it's not half term in Scotland

Piggywaspushed · 22/05/2020 18:12

It really frustrates me that they keep reporting death rates for teachers. The whole point is that schools have been in skeleton staff and pupils. That could go horrifically for them if that goes up.

namechangedyetagain · 22/05/2020 18:14

Checking in with wine Wine as it's Friday and apparently half term (though I'm in next week).

Still stressing about September and wondering how a PGCE would look. And if I should put it off and talk myself out of it ... still don't think I'm good enough. Is that normal???

Piggywaspushed · 22/05/2020 18:14

My head has obvioulsy sought his own union's advice. They have told him he does not need to share the risk assessment.

WhyNotMe40 · 22/05/2020 18:21

Namechanged yes very normal :)

Piggywaspushed · 22/05/2020 18:21

I like weapon riga! Outing your roots there!

Piggywaspushed · 22/05/2020 18:26

Someone brave needs to start a government ignored Sage thread. Noble would normally but she has left MN Sad

Piggywaspushed · 22/05/2020 18:29

That was meant to be a sad face !

RigaBalsam · 22/05/2020 18:32

I like weapon riga! Outing your roots there!

🙈

RigaBalsam · 22/05/2020 18:33

Piggy theres a couple. A user keeps sticking up for the government.

RigaBalsam · 22/05/2020 18:33

Wondered where noble was she was so eloquent at getting the point across.

Beawillalwaysbetopdog · 22/05/2020 18:34

I didn't realise Noble had left, I'm a long time lurker and have enjoyed many of her posts over the years. Was it the increases in anti-teacher rhetoric that made her leave?

WhyNotMe40 · 22/05/2020 18:36

Noble left? Oh that's a real shame. I really enjoyed her posts as they always had something I hadn't thought about and probably should have!

MsAwesomeDragon · 22/05/2020 18:37

I didn't realise noble had left either. How sad 😢 I hope she decides to come back once all this madness is over, I really like her.
