You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff. Baiters and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here only if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

I think I'm going to get online and spend money I don't need to spend, on random shit.

IHateCoronavirus · 30/05/2020 19:21

Sounds like a plan Smile

The "smart people" have suggested what the idiots suggested many threads a go.

The Scottish guidance suggests geodomes and polytunnels. Like the children are fucking strawberries.

Mistressiggi · 30/05/2020 19:41

How hot would that be?

FrippEnos · 30/05/2020 19:45

So in a time where a virus is spread in water droplets, lets put kids in what is essentially a sweatbox,

Fucking brilliant. You have to laugh or you would cry.

MurrayTheDemonicTalkingSkull · 30/05/2020 19:53

It’s either going to be way too hot or way too cold. Can’t wait to teach 6 Carol Ann Duffy poems in a greenhouse.

NeurotrashWarrior · 30/05/2020 19:56

Our runners would love a tent.

greathat · 30/05/2020 20:05

It feels like we're sleep walking into a disaster. Just how I felt at the start of this, when the other countries were falling apart and we were doing nothing. Fucking pissed off with people saying the government are doing a good job of that the Labour Party would be worse. How could things be worse? Massive death rate. Ignoring the warnings of science and government advisors not following their own advice, but by all means let's clap for doctors

On a lovely note, I just received a lovely email from a parent thanking me for everything I have done for my little charges from afar.

They thanked me in particular for the story! My stomach flipped given the fairytale I posted last night. I thought I had been rumbled! Shock

Then i quickly got another email saying “sorry sent too soon. It was meant to say Stories you have been reading on class page!”

Blush I need one of these now Wine

DrMadelineMaxwell · 30/05/2020 21:11

Our runners would definitely love a tent. Quick exit.

phlebasconsidered · 30/05/2020 21:29

My runner bolts from classroom windows if necessary, even through the half ones with bolts like a cat, bolts for the perimeter fences and I kid you not he is like bloody spiderman. A tent!!!! Ha!

That was my therapy this afternoon. I’m no longer even sure of what I’ve bought Blush

Just been for a long stroll with the dog listening to the birds and enjoying it being light still. Going to have a red vermouth and tonic (strange old lady drink but I like it), feed the dog in his crate, try and get the cat in then try for bed.

TheHoneyBadger · 30/05/2020 21:45

When I hear runners I think of our student runners who come round saying miss you haven’t done your register or delivering notes. Maybe your runners would like that job?

ChloeDecker · 30/05/2020 22:06

That made me chuckle IHateCoronavirus!

echt · 30/05/2020 22:51

You've inspired me, TheHoneyBadger, that bottle of red vermouth has been languishing for some time, so I'll give it whirl. At 65+ I'm allowed some strangeness.: o

cheesecurdsandgravy · 30/05/2020 23:18

I just came across the dementors thread. Wowzer.

Anyway. That was a lovely email @IHateCoronavirus, my stomach would have dropped too at first Grin

pfrench · 30/05/2020 23:21

I had a gin tonight. 4th drink of lockdown #steady

Biglittlethings · 31/05/2020 01:34

@MrsHerculePoirot

Do you think they are planning on announcing we will move down to level 3 tomorrow to line up with their easing of restrictions? Who makes hat decision? I can’t find anything about it anywhere that explains what current level is and who makes decision to change it?
Well, they are going to announce that the shielded - yes that’s the shielded - are able to leave their homes AND meet up with someone else form another household tomorrow, so yes they may as well lower it to 3 while they’re at it!

Absolutely unbelievable.

monkeytennis97 · 31/05/2020 05:49

@greathat totally agree.

Piggywaspushed · 31/05/2020 07:51

In The Times yesterday it was reported that quite a lot of parents are now considering a career change to teaching after having spent more time with their DCs and their learning ! They are in for a shock went they have to wrangle 30 of them, in an actual classroom, with no screens providing the learning!

Quite sweet, though really...(unless tis is the armchair I could do it better posse)

Piggywaspushed · 31/05/2020 08:01

The anti dementors thread is hilarious. For people who profess to be against lockdown etc. they don't half spend a lot of time moaning about people wearing gloves and not observing the rules of SD and many have stuck very rigidly to stay indoors rules. They really aren't what they think they are!

cheesecurdsandgravy · 31/05/2020 08:08

BBC article. Apparently a governor wrote in that “parent need a break and the children are getting feral"

Feral?!? Really???? I hope that isn’t a governor at my school. What a thing to say!
