You actually believe that? It's just "self-proclaimed friend of Diana said" rubbish. Richard Kay spouts endless nonsense.

Even he is saying "in Diana's mind"? How the heck does he know what was in Diana's mind? How would Diana be in any position to "prepare" for Harry acceding to the throne and not William?

That article also says:
"He raised the subject of how some people used to speculate about Princess Margaret being better suited for the role of monarch than Princess Elizabeth."

Exactly who speculated that? It's utter tosh.

Are you suggesting that Richard Kay is a Harry mouthpiece?

If anything, this is an example of the complete garbage that "friends" and "sources" and "experts" completely make up and then spout to the trash media, and that gets circulated and recirculated and ends up making things difficult for the real royals, especially William and Catherine. People magazine in particular publishes this kind of rubbish because they are American and have no idea about how the monarchy works.

This whole story is garbage.

No, People Magazine are Harry’s mouthpiece.

I wonder did they have to get Harry & Meghan’s go ahead to run that story. Harry would probably love the idea his beloved Mum thought he would be better at the King job than William.

@Passingthroughagain Thank you so much for posting the Jan Moir post in the DM. I'm taking a break from reading it to thank you, as I was choking on my tea and toast; hilarious!
I've been catching with the thread; it is filling up very quickly with yet more interesting posts.
A sincere 'thank you' to those who welcomed me via emojis, that was so nice.
Right; now back to tea, toast, and Jan Moir's trenchant commentary!

Absolutely absurd. What did they expect?

I read they were set to issue a press release of their public engagements. They were going to set up their own little mock royal court. Reminds me of that first Toy story when Woody told Buzz Lightyear he was a toy. Same with Harry. He's a toy Prince now. Ouch.

and he thinks he is England’s very own Prince, or at least he has self proclaimed himself to be a royal with a title that doesn’t exist (twat).

I think he thinks he's England's prince of hearts.
And the funny thing is ten years ago he was exactly that in a lot of people's eyes.

Emphasis on the past tense.

AustenitesUnite · 11/09/2026 12:27

I know we're not meant to advertise on MN, but please will you forgive me for mentioning that I'm writing a book?

It's entitled "That's not my prince"

I only have two pages so far ~

That's not my prince . . . his engagements aren't listed in the Court Circular

That's not my prince . . . his style of HRH is in abeyance

I'm still working on it and I'm sure, as events unfold, I'll end up with sufficient pages for a whole book (or two, or three)

Which just goes to show how important his PR is - none of us (or very, very few) know him as a person, so it's all just been his exposure in the media that had us all so happy he was finally having his happy ever after, then the gradual descent into the absolute pile of poo his reputation now wallows in.
PR & Comms books will be written about this.

bluegreygreen · 11/09/2026 12:32

That's not my prince . . . his carriage doesn't have outriders

That's not my prince . . . his voice is too whiny

I'm imagining it on Catherine.

Yes, and then he met Mega-Narc and the rest is tragic history 🤷

Thing about Invictus, with all genuine respect to injured service people, it is a relatively small event for a small group of people. Harry doesn't actually do any organising or anything any of us would recognise as work. There were very few non family member spectators at the last one.
It is a worthy cause and I'm sure a very enjoyable few days of sport, but it is not a major sporting event. Add in the murky finances, the complexities around IDF involvement and the awful posing of Meghan and it is looking like a lost cause. It is all Harry has and he has built his identity around it. I don't see how it can sustain him.

Yes, you're right. I think the military thing is also about wearing a uniform and displaying medals. Maybe that helps with his whole status thing.

And a bunch of alpha males have to salute you and be subservient to you, despite being 1,000 times more able than you, because you're the top dog.

HarryLimeFoxtrot · 11/09/2026 12:51

SqueakyDinosaur · 11/09/2026 11:48

This is a quote from one of the many articles in Heat magazine:

"She had hoped that there would be some sort of positive public acknowledgement from Harry’s family, and there’s been nothing, which is quite hurtful because a good word from any one of them could no doubt do a lot to silence their critics,’ the insider says".

I just can't get over the degree to which they seem not to understand the consequences of their words and actions.

Why would there be any public acknowledgment? The RF don’t spend their time bigging each other up on their socials! I mean they might quietly acknowledge birthdays, but not much more than that.

And I suspect HAM should be extremely grateful that the RF have the decorum to adhere to the adage that if you can’t say something nice, then it’s best not to say anything at all. In fact, I think HAM should try that themselves!

Absolutely agree

All I can remember from the last games is the shenanigans with M and the 'issues' with the Sussex Squad and Tom Bower

That sort of thing should never form people's memories of what could be a truly inspiring event. We need inspirational stories of what the competitors have achieved, their courage & fortitude.

During the Remembrance weekend we get stories, which move me to tears, which highlight for us all why these events are held

Surely the Invictus Games should portray a similar ethos?

Catching up.

Releasing a list of his engagements proves the King was right to send that letter to stakeholders.

Shoehorning Invictus into every area of a curriculum is a terrible idea. I would guess the resources were written by someone with more ideas than experience of actually teaching small children. Also why would any school choose to base their whole curriculum around a minor sporting event?

Finally this paragraph from Jan Moir sadly sums up the situation

"The letter prompted an immediate pushback from the status-conscious duke and his prickle of a duchess. For, instead of acting with diplomacy and tact, H&M sulk at everything that displeases them, like a bubble-gum pop duo forever enraged that they are not treated as serious artists."

It's actually spelt "artiste"

In my opinion it’s looking more and more like the surprise relocation is to enable Meghan to get Harry closer to the royals at least geographically and then Meghan will play the victim being hounded out of the country again by a mean family and racist public. She will try to take the Sarah Ferguson route to continued fame and fortune. although will no doubt try to get as much money from KCs funds for a divorce settlement first. Time is of the essence as a KW would not give her anything from his funds.

So a post divorce book looms. She must have learnt a lot from Harry publishing Spare about advances and global syndication - getting her name all over the press now will really help with making her book a hot read. A joint Netflix doc on the move back, a doc on the 30th anniversary of Diana will fill the marital coffers. And then potentially a spin off on her post separation life in the US and her own post divorce book will fill her own coffers. She can max the financial gain hard in the next two years and then see what opportunities await. The kids are her ongoing link to the British monarchy and Americans are still somewhat fascinated by upper class British life. There will be some opportunities.

Lemonorzo · 11/09/2026 13:01

I think his greatest mistake was to marry someone who wants to be famous. For everyone else it’s an unfortunate side effect of the role, clearly for her it’s the most important (I’m starting to think it’s the same for Harry too).

HarryLimeFoxtrot · 11/09/2026 13:02

That’s not my prince… he’s named after the looser of the Battle of Hastings

(Yes, yes - I know he’s Henry, not Harold. But W was named after the victor, and I expect that’s not fair)!

Will we have to split the royalties? (pun intended)

Yes, thanks Jeff, and as BWLT says, maybe if the title had included several of the more hackneyed jibes we could avoid the pigeons and seagulls! Maybe

Frothing and spitting vitriol and bile about a young couple we don’t know and letting them live rent-free in our heads whilst approving of Andrew and calling Camilla Queen when she’s just someone Charles had an affair with when married to St Diana of Kensington.

😂

young couple??🤪
They are both in their 40’s!
