As one of his harshest critics last night, it's only fair of me to say that I do think Harry cares about veterans.

I think he appreciated the comradeship of the army, and caring about veterans is part of that for him.

I still don't think he has the personal skills, or ability to understand and maintain boundaries or to manage complex situations that would be needed to work with vulnerable people in a role such as the one that was suggested.

It's very different to supporting a charity as patron.

I agree, but he’s been a weak idiot for letting his love of Meghan mess things up. He should have been firm with the attention-seeking nightmare and told her “No, darling- this one’s mine - you go and sprinkle some flowers!”.

Men (I think they are almost all men) who’ve suffered mental and physical trauma from conflict don’t want to see a silly cable actress z-lister cavorting about and trying to take over. It’s as if H thought she might become some kind of “forces sweetheart “. Yuk.

Thank you ! That is so great, love it !

That's an interesting little clip. They were fairly young men, not a demographic who would probably poll well in favour of the monarchy and yet they are excited to see William in person.

William seems very sure of what he wants to put his time and attention into and what he doesn't. I wonder if ask these projects he is focusing on: mental health, the environment and homelessness are a bit like Charles and the environment. Not flashy or quick or easy to solve but incremental changes in partnership with experts in the field that in hindsight will garner more appreciation than they do now?

In this William is the opposite of Harry who seems to need immediate praise or he loses interest.

MrsLeonFarrell · 12/09/2026 10:39

Harry is really good with veterans and seems genuinely interested when with them. I think maybe it would be wise to leave Meghan at home with Invictus because she always seems awkward and it makes him awkward in the background. Whilst I think the curriculum idea ridiculous Harry would do a lot of useful, boring, work highlighting veteran causes, if he could just step out of the spotlight himself. That's where he doesn't work like a Royal, he takes the spotlight rather than shining it on others.

Yes - I'm not saying he's behaved well with Invictus, and agree with all the concerns that have been expressed about it for months (or years!), just saying that I do think he has some concern for veterans at baseline.

Lemonorzo · 12/09/2026 10:40

For someone who has had so much therapy and advocates for it, he seems very unhappy and more importantly, completely directionless.

i also love that clip of William, he always seems sweet and natural in his reactions with people.

There's the difference; William engaged with therapy. Harry did not, it would seem. It just gave him language to air his grievances.
Therapy can be tough and you have to work hard to change. Harry hasn't done that.

DancingFerret · 12/09/2026 10:51

This popped up on Quora. The Sussexes' are a worldwide laughing stock and easy prey for the most corny prankster, yet still they blunder along - posing and proclaiming in apparent blissful ignorance of their reality. No-one could accuse them of being self-aware.🙄

Yes - I agree. That’s why it’s so sad that things have developed as they have.

William marrying Catherine was the best decision he ever made . He has been immersed into a close knit , discreet family and it shows .

He was great, really supportive and did what he could for her. Created a mixed race Barbie family for her, took her to tap and ballet and a nice restaurant afterwards. Paid for her to go to a nice private school and did the lighting for the school productions. He supported her career and tried to get openings for her. He paid for her first wedding.
She was very effusive about him, so it did surprise me that he and Harry never met.

He also paid for her university - eye wateringly expensive in the US.
In her blog she talked lovingly of her Dad until she met H.
She hung him out to dry when he didn’t fit her new narrative but Doria did.
The press took advantage of an older guy with absolutely no experience of the situation he was left in.
It beggars belief that H has never met him and that MM continues to ignore his existence.

Absolutely, and that the RF encouraged both H&M to talk to him and bring him over. When Meghan refused, they encouraged Harry to. The late Queen offered to host him at Windsor Castle.
It really is quite shameful. They've done far worse than him.

Also, for someone who preaches about kindness and service to others, she's conveniently forgotten her Dad.

Rules for thee but not for me.....

What Thomas Markle did doesn't even compare to the awful actions of H&M since they left the Royal Family. And I'll always suspect she had something to do with those leaked paparazzi pictures of him- he was never going to be at that wedding, she was determined of that.

Agree, and I notice again that they seem very happy to circulate the 'William should be the bigger person' line, but with no sign of HAM being the 'bigger person' and reconciling with Thomas Markle. Even those who think he behaved badly would, I think, understand and approve of Meghan making peace with him now at this late stage of his life and with his poor health.

The poor Dad, he really was chewed up and spat out.

Shocking tweet on X that says Paul Burrell stole letters between Charles Spencer and Diana which proves he refused to help her in her last months. And then X does a troll by posting a tweet from Charles plugging his new Let’s Cash In On Diana book.

I think a lot of the issues Harry stem from this, I imagine he’s very jealous.

Notmybestusername · 12/09/2026 11:55

What about a reboot of his failing games:

"Gingvictus".*

No not a dental condition but a games event where Harry gets red headed celebs in a Gladiators event (as in TV show, not Roman style) to compete against the clock for an award.
That'll boost the old YouGov polls faster than a pair of doodled bananas.

*I am follicularly auburn hued. No pile on please.

BasiliskStare · 12/09/2026 12:02

Just catching up again

FWIW I think no-one is all bad, not even H ( colour me the optimist) . I do think the fun cheeky chappie H owed A Lot to the MIGS running defence. However , I agree with @bluegreygreen at some visceral level H feels connected to the military. That may be because , as the story went , he saw seriously wounded people on the plane home with him. It may be because as well as structure, his military service gave him something W wasn't allowed to do and it gave him some feeling of self worth , self validity (if that's even a phrase) . I could understand that. Now , on the one hand maybe if the army was so important to him , he could thank the stars he was the spare because he was allowed to do something W wasn't. (By the by I think W's air sea rescue piloting was impressive , looks very tricky and scary to say the least , and whilst I pride myself on my parallel parking , I couldn't do that 😊) . However , I think whilst the IG might have made the perfect Non Royal platform for him , he seems to be messing it up a bit. & I'm not sure he has the wit to see that.

One more point - I would love the MSM to pick up the work done by Rachel the pilot and others. Not because of H per se but it does look like it should be investigated as it appears to have become something it wasn't when set up & the staggering amounts of money involved I think deserve some investigation.

Ps whilst I think the job description posted above would be beyond H , I do agree with the principle that if he found a voluntary role , on the downlow , not glamorous but regular effort , instead of the speaking engagements dinners etc , he could do his reputation a very great deal of good. But that doesn't seem to be what he has decided is his M.O.

Noooooo!
Don’t you remember the disastrous Royal It’s a Knockout?!

Starryfifty · 12/09/2026 12:04

ironically, HAM and their appalling behaviour have made the RF even more popular as people have sympathy for them. Another classic own goal

Completely agree. William has a template of what a close, happy family looks like. He and Catherine are bringing up their children in this way.
I think that Harry is jealous of that but I also think he thought the Middletons were dull and boring and obviously not the sort of people he would associate with. More fool him.
