Sarah lived in America for about 12 years following her divorce. She also published an autobiography and appeared on American TV chat shows following her divorce.

She spent quite a bit of time there - but never lived there.

He counts his birthday as a public event?

🙄

😂😂😂 I just see that. What an absolute knob

She spent quite a bit of time there - but never lived there.

She had a main residence in New York and spent about half her time in America whilst flying back and forth to see her girls. Her commercial contracts, including weight watchers, were based in America.

To be fair, that's not from him.

Didn't one of the girls - Beatrice? - live in the US for a time?

I like the fact that Charles is there in his plus fours with his binoculars hanging round his neck ☺️

It’s come to something when the old geezer in the plus fours with the binoculars looks like the sane one of the lot.

Thank you all for the entertainment and the discussion and the laughter. Whatever will happen next? In my corner of the Cotswolds there was brief excitement when DP followed a chap in a top of the range brand new Audi through Tetbury with the number plate HRH 5. He says it was a finance bro type dude not Hazza though he did his best to get a decent look for us all!

It’s the children I feel so sorry for. Uprooted without any preparation (allegedly) and then according to the latest DM article they’re going back to California for October half term - they’re not going to know whether they are coming or going or where to settle, and then to come back to school with jet lag, it’s setting them up to fail, surely? Mine were always shattered in October half term when small, they last thing they needed was to get on a plane. And what about a chance for play dates and days out locally to settle in? (Although I fear lots of folk wouldn’t have them over for a play date for fear of being misquoted and Markled?)

It’s a very sorry state of affairs and I can’t see it ending well.

Now that would actually make me laugh out loud and ease up on PH if he did get a number plate that said HRH 5

I know this thread is about PR disasters but I've been trying you think of anything the Sussexes have done well. I can't think of much since their marriage which has worked well in PR terms. Maybe the Grenfell cookbook and Smartworks?

But, at the moment it’s only been weeks.
Plus -even if it had been a year, who is going to stop her at the airport taking her children to the USA??
Lily has never previously lived here and was born there. Is it really a fight worth having when they could pay her off AND shut her up with an NDA?
Im sure Harry would think that’s worth £20 million.

I’ve been wondering about the two passports the children may have. Where I am it’s common amongst nationals who were born in the states when their parents were studying there to have to decide at age 18 if they want to be American or retain their local nationality. Dual citizenship is not allowed where I am and I’m under the impression (perhaps wrongly) it’s not permitted in the states either. Anyway, whatever the reason I know people surrender their right to American citizenship when they reach the age of 18 and I wonder if Archie and Lily will have to chose.

Andrew lownie on Kinsey S. He has it on good authority that Charles Spencer found HAM unbearably rude and is in no hurry to meet up with them again

Edited

That's very interesting. I had wondered how that all went. I can't see him getting along with Meghan at all either. Cat Jarman seems a very down to earth normal woman who wouldn't be tolerating all that self absorption and airs and graces either.

Yes, I think the Grenfell cookbook was good. Plus her initial involvement with Smartworks. She was only a working royal for a very brief time, which included maternity leave, though.

I do need to get out more 😂 Andrew lownie on Kinsey S. He has it from a reliable source that Charles S found them unbearably rude in July and won't entertain them again

Could you link to that please?

A Skydive for charity?

Jeezo, ex military man jumps out of a plane.

Does he really think it’s comparable/appropriate clapback to the Duchess of Cornwalls 3 peaks climb for her charity.

A life is service, impact and purpose

What exactly is a "life of impact"? Should we be getting worried about the Skydive for Charity? 🤔

Ah of course, how could I miss the link!

I think it's OK, as I doubt a parachute jump will take the shine off Kate's achievement (& money raised for charity, HaM don't have as many rich mates to sponsor Harry)

And any soppy “channelling Diana” stuff wouldn’t go down well either! I know it worked on H in a number of ways but I think that’s M’s (and Meghan’s) problem- he’s stupid enough to not see what she’s up to, but her nonsense just alienates everyone else.

In a nutshell, that’s why they’re in the mess they’re in.

JSMill · 12/09/2026 07:33

Duel nationally is allowed by the US. I know lots of dual US/UK nationals.

Apparently, according to his press release, "a life of impact" includes his birthday.
Yes. The first "event" on the list.
Like an 8 year old.

Was busy buying assorted birthday and other cards today. Was tempted to buy this one for Harry and send it via BP. I love the misty background reminiscent of one of Charles’ paintings of Balmoral.
Got a bit too much of the ginger fluff up top though.

I don't know if you are anywhere near London but the Frameless Exhibition uses this picture.

I had never seen this painting before and I thought it was great, and it worked really well "alive."

LaMarschallin · 12/09/2026 07:55

My neighbour did a tandem parachute jump for her 75th birthday (she did wing-walking for her 70th).
I don't think she could have done the Three Peaks Challenge though.
(Presumably, Hazza-the-old-soldier will jump alone, not just in tandem?)

My son in law has dual citizenship and holds a USA passport plus one other, so it is possible to retain your American citizenship. I don’t think the authorities like it though.
