Prince George at Eton

Can anyone explain why Prince George is boarding at Eton when the family home is just minutes away across the river?

Ha! My family member who was there until relatively recently had no specific tuition for the entrance exam.

Common Entrance was essentially the prep curriculum.

The KS was a different matter. It really would be necessary to prepare for that.

I've just had a look online and there are tuition services claiming to have a 90% success rate getting boys into Eton. It's like any exam/interview combo - there will be a knack to it, qualities and ways of thinking they are looking for beyond subject knowledge.

So much jealousy and bitterness on this thread. As some would say- why are they letting this child live rent free in their mind because he has gone to a certain school. 🤷‍♀️ Envy and bitterness are dripping from the posts. I really feel for people who come on here to denigrate a child in this way. You don't sound very nice people at all. He is just a child.

Prince Philip was a highly intelligent man who pursued an enormous range of interests.

Going back a bit, Prince Albert was also a man with intellectual interests.

Harry possibly wasn't suited to Eton, but he could have made better use of his time there. He talks in Spare about how the history master tried to arouse a spark of interest in him.

I’m not being daft - that is literally how they are named for schooling and exams. It’s public knowledge.

And again, I never suggested he got a free pass, but that doesn’t mean that he might not have got a little bump up if he didn’t well enough that they thought he’d cope, but not as well as others who took the exams. I think you are seriously naive to believe that there is no advantage for Eton in having a future King as a pupil.

Poor wee boy. I can't understand why anyone would send their child away for weeks at a time. Or let them go just because they said they wanted to. I know lots of posh people do it, but I don't know anyone who would. And I can't think of an "opportunity" in the world I'd allow my kids to take if it meant not seeing me or their dad for weeks at a time at such a young age.

Envy exists in the world. Surely you’re not so sheltered as to think none of these posters wish their own child had the opportunity to attend one of the most prestigious schools in the world?
