It’s how it works afterschool though at public places and peoples homes.

And just because you shouldn’t don’t mean people don’t. Ask any adoptive parent how hard it can be to get other parents to not take photos of nativity plays etc, even if the school had said now, people still do it,

Not my point. The Sussexes don't need to insist on this. It won't happen.
Yes, state schools enforce it too, especially for LAC.

My blunt opinion: Archie was a terrible choice of name because 'Prince Archie' (likewise Lord Archie or other options) really doesn't go well. Apologies to anyone who has a loved one with the name: I know one and it's fine in context for them, but as HAM's choice it looks like a massive finger stuck up at traditional royalling. Which is a choice they can make for themselves, but it's also a little boy's name. I wish they'd come up with something better and used Archie as a nickname if they really liked it. They didn't say anything, as I remember, about why they'd picked it or what the inspiration was. Another area in which Lili at least gets a better origin story.

"Prince Archie" sounds like a character from a Netflix rom-com about a guy from New Jersey who finds out he is the heir to a small, central European country and the hilarity (🙄) of him trying to learn protocol while sneaking out at night for a Big Mac!

Ime parents and nannies are only interested in their own dc and pics of them, and quite offended to be considered otherwise!

Total bollocks M is too scared to take her own dc to school for safety reasons. She hasnt been in the area long enough to upset any wives, flirt with their husbands etc.

Its a short drive, in no doubt giant chelsea tractor. With her sunglasses on, joggers and messy hair- - she will look like everyother school run mum.

H can pay for it. He has enough money to piss away on court cases, he and his ghastly wife pushed off abroad and exploited their respective families for money and fame. Its karma, they have to spend the 50 pieces of silver on protecting thenselves because of their own actions.

Conventional (spell check wanted me to say 'congenital' 🙃) but sadly ill-leisured oldie dropping by.

Do I still count? <flutters puppy eyes> 🐶

Thanks for new thread!

Good to see you back jeff 🙂 Hope you're feeling better.

You are always welcome anywhere Cathy !! And many thanks 🥰

The last PM I had (and deleted) simply said: 'Do you live in London?'

Charming and fragrant though this approach was, I chose to turn off the message function in my settings as I have pearls to choose and a wealthy husband to find divorce.

I now suspect it was a rock dove called Stan, who wanted to take me up the Belsize Park.

Sounds positively exciting autumn!!! However I assure you my pm wasn’t along those lines….honestly…you can trust me….

Sorry I'm catching up bit by bit on the thread. Thank you for reminding me of this @jeffgoldblum . That is some really top quality Princesplaining . I can just see "You do know that the Monarchy is a hierarchy , right? " with his hand out with the finger and thumbs downwards like a grabber in a quarry or an amusement arcade. Yes we did know dear boy & this is why you are Prince Harry , Duke of Sussex and not plain ol' Mr / Captain Mountbatten-Windsor. When reminded I just can't get over the effrontery of whinging about only being the Monarch's second son and your whole rather luxurious life being organised and paid for. He's clueless , clueless I say. 😊

OK back to the thread. Basilisk. (in her 60s , retired , wears pearls on occasion , reserves the right to clutch them at will )

🤣🤣🤣🤣that’s uncanny basilisk!!! , so you did watch it too then!! 🤣🤣

Prince Harry What GIF

I have long thought the unusually tight-lipped on the disgraceful Yorks Harolds have some beneficial connection with said Yorks.

It's the only conclusion to be drawn.

Agreed! , what with grifting and little white pills …there’s a definite sniff of York around the hams…..

A relative of mine called their child a common first name then a totally way out and wacky name as the middle. It became clear when he told us that we were meant slap our thigh and crow with laughter saying something along the lines of "oh, Steve's such a wag. He's hilarious. Can't even be sensible when naming his kid. How like him!"
He was very put out when the response varied from ignoring it to a few blunter people pointing out it wasn't funny on the poor child who had to live with it.

I suspect it was something similar in using "Harrison". We were meant to think how funny he was.

I can’t reveal it because it’s too outing …however my idiot youngest sister named her baby after not only the three musketeers but also a vengeance seeking Roman general!!! …poor little boy!

I still think David Hedison made a better fly.

Sorry. Jeff Goldblum is the only fly for me.

I still fondly recall going into the pub next door after a group viewing with a few turning pale when some more robust souls pretended to honk in their beer (you might have to have seen it to get the reference) then suck the brew dry.

Happy days 🍺

Edited

Careful….I may be more fond of you than usual….you may find it a tad suffocating!! 😉

Interesting non related ( kind of ) fact…..Cary grant was actually called…Archibald leech and was born in Bristol!!

I very much doubt that ham will be the most relevant “famous” family in that school anyway….more likely the parents want them to know pictures are not allowed!

Apologies if this is has already been discussed (and also for my tendency to disappear into internet rabbit holes).

Apparently, the "woman never meant to rule" is HAM's daughter, in which case this book is written in extremely bad taste - not least because it imagines the deaths of people still alive.

Please tell me I have misunderstood.

No, they have been discussing this on reddit. It has made me lose all respect for Rob Shuter.

AutumnCrowInEmeritoVeritas · 02/09/2026 00:00

‘Archie’ I think is, at a private boarding school in the British Isles, the fond nickname of Rupert Hetherington-Archer, Viscount Stanley, elder son of the Earl of Carrickstowe.

He will always be ‘Archie’ to his old school chums, but ‘Ru’ to his wife and close family, and ‘Rupert’ to colleagues at work (on the Board of Directors) and, eventually, in the House of Lords.

Thedom · 02/09/2026 00:08

I don’t understand the ‘terrified to leave the house’ moan, they have their own personal bodyguards. I’m sure their team are well trained in defensive and evasive driving, highly trained in assessing any security risks in their immediate vicinity and on top of it, ready to react in a nano second, plus they are probably ex military and ex police.

Harry had about 5 or 6 bodyguards with him when he showed up for that Invictus thing a few weeks ago, as well as dragging in the two bemused police officers for ‘crowd’ control. He was fine, no one followed his car, no one even boo’d him.

It’s not like they are going to be driving through a gamut of angry protestors alone to get the kids to school, it’s parents whose main objective will be in getting their own kids back to school without any upset and having to deal with the drop off parking, I expect H&M will have special parking agreements so they don’t have to walk anywhere.

Well ….it could be something useful for “republic “ to do…..

At the risk of possibly insulting your relative, I have met many dogs over the years named after that exact same vengeance seeking Roman general. Most of them have been very sweet. It's a very popular US pet name. As is Prince, Princess, Duke, Duchess, Lady, King, and Queenie. I have met numerous cats and dogs with those names.

Ah but you see bemused….that was actually the last name amoungst the other 3!!! 😬
edit to add….I feel the need to further explain that youngest has not the same humour as the rest of us….I simply remarked that “ Alexandre Dumas would be proud “ and she stomped off the group chat!!! …she thought I was calling her a …dumbass!! 🤔

Sorry but of course H&M&A&L will be the most relevant famous family in that school, it's absurd to think otherwise!! Even if it's by their own doing, H&M are relevant right now. Look at these threads and how much you and us all write about them. There may be other famous families there but only William's could top them.

BTW, I just caught up with the previous thread. I'm not 60, not from the UK, and I don't own pearls.
I do feel very sorry for W & C since most people's annoying relatives aren't all over the news.

I had no doubt that you were none of those things! 😁 , in my mind I see you as a go getting Cagney ( and Lacey) type …busting crime while looking glamorous!

I always thought that 'Harrison' was a play on "Harry's son" to show how clever they were rather than to show 'raffish humour'. Didn't work though, did it?

Is it right that Meghan’s favorite comic was Archie?
