🤣🤣 sorry coffee ! , yes I’m a woman….and may I add a damn attractive one too! 😁 , you would probably still fancy me!
however I’m not conventional, 60 , retired or leisured ( however that would be quite nice about now)
I can’t believe the last thread is full just as I arrived back on it!!! , I have a nagging feeling that I must have missed a great deal! 😱

Some new rock doves.

That's some existential dark comedy, isn't it? That Harry's demise would be a bit of a 'meh' and a shrug constitutionally speaking. And was already the case when Meg married him.

Anyway, am I right in thinking that RAVEC would require evidence that HaM are now resident in the UK? To risk assess a family of four effectively, the committee would need to be sure of their physical whereabouts and legal domicile.

Proof of domicile and paying tax for starters! I hope HMRC are on the ball, none of this based in Delaware shit.

Baital · 01/09/2026 19:05

I don't think insisting on the prince/princess titles will play well. Edward and Sophie's approach is a far better look 'yes, technically they are prince/ss, but we don't care about that'.

Rather than clinging on.

Totally agree. I meant to say that earlier.

Just so performative, crass and inappropriate.

And there’s the sibling inequity for me. One child gets named after the monarch, and the other, er, doesn’t.

I think it's where they were at the time each child was born.

I think they thought they were being cute with Archie - a non-traditional, historically working class name or a name from comics - that fitted in with their narrative of being modernisers, not following protocol and not bothered about titles - the "just call me Harry" phase. Perhaps they were hoping for some sort of backlash or drama from the RF that didn't come.

By the time Lili was born they were desperate for royal adjacency, were definite about using their Prince/Duke/Duchess titles, being announced by them, cosplaying pseudo royals with monograms, faux tours etc etc. So they used QEII's private name ...

IIRC they didn't consult KC about the titles for their kids - they just announced it in the media taking everyone by surprise - a sort of "we know our rights and they're the King's grandchildren" rather than having a BP announcement.

I think I may have caught the tail end on the last thread! ( pun intended!) 😉 , I’m glad to see you Rhaid , I sent you a pm a while back but I don’t think everyone gets them , so excuse my rather vague comment!
i hope you didn’t think my quoting you on that thread awhile ago was directed at you personally, I was in the thick of it and decided ( possibly foolishly) that it was better to quote you with the reply for another less friendly poster.
it only occurred afterwards that I may have dropped a bollock and offended you , which would have been unforgivable after everything you did for me then ❤️

They didn't have to choose titles for their kids. It would have made more sense not to living in the US. Or they could have followed the praxis of other Royal grandchildren of using subsidiary titles and making their minds up at 18.

In fact HAM are following the lead of AMW who was desperate for his children to have and retain Princess titles - remember him lobbying hard in 2016 for Beatrice and Eugenie to have elevated status, more public funding, their own security and become working royals - referring to them as "blood princesses" as an apparent swipe at Catherine and Sophie as marry-ins. This is the route that HAM have chosen to go down.

Princess Anne refused all titles. Mark Phillips refused an Earldom. Anne refused titles for the kids. It seems to have done Peter and Zara little harm.

Edward and Sophie chose the middle way of courtesy and subsidiary titles. Edward chose an Earldom rather than a Dukedom and James adopted his subsidiary title of Viscount Severn (although now Earl of Wessex) and Louise chose to be Lady Louise rather than Princess Louise at 18 - both have reiterated that they won't adopt Prince/Princess titles. HAM could also do this - Earl/Lady Dumbarton or Baron/Lady Kilkeel - they won't though as they are desperate to maintain status to make money.

I wonder if the hamlets were getting ribbed at school in the USA about their titles.

HAM are right in the AMW/Fergie playbook - desperately trying to cling on to their status and importance as they tumble down the LoS

Tbf, him “demanding an apology” is alleged rather than fact, something a supposed friend of his supposedly told the media. Unlike the other things in your post we don’t know that for a fact as it hasn’t come from him directly.

This Yahoo News report says the original request for an apology came in an interview around Spare in 2023.

I haven't looked up the interview.

I don't know if you mean just recently, or over the last six years. I can recall him demanding an apology at least once in a TV interview; and then, much later, in another interview, expressing his resignation that hecwasn't going to get one.

Yes, if I recall correctly they announced Lilibet's christening as 'Princess Lilibet', and that was when it became clear that they had done a U-turn on the title issue.

Hi @jeffgoldblum . I took the BH weekend off to go shower-shopping in Slough on Sun and then feed the family on Mon, and The Threads Ran Away! I'm now in catch-up mode.

I can't recall seeing you quoting me, but (cos it's you and I know where you'r coming from) I wouldn't have taken offense.

I still think David Hedison made a better fly.

I hope you are mending 🌹

P. S. I have never ever opened a pm on MN - wouldn't know how to - sonI missed it, rather than ignored it.

This is a really interesting point. Lunde. I agree that the children's names reflect the HAM's instability - their constant 'change and change about' character.

Personally I'm not a fan of cutesy 'original' or pet names for children such as those chosen by Geldof and Yates, or Jonathan Ross and Jane Goodman. These children will grow up and become middle-aged and elderly people, they'll go through all kinds of experiences and they might want a serious career. Give them a less stand-out name and allow them to choose their own short or pet version.

It wouldn't surprise me if Lilibet decides to become Elizabeth, or something entirely different, when she's older. Diana would have been a better first name (I know it's her middle name) in preference. I think Archie's too casual and trendy for a prince, but as you say, they were in that particular phase when they named him.

Cheers for the info. Yes I meant recently as the poster I was referring to and meant to quote wrote “HE is still demanding an apology”, so I assumed they were referring to the piece in the media the other day with the quote from his unnamed friend.

I wonder if the hamlets were getting ribbed at school in the USA about their titles.

It may have finally dawned on dim Harry and grand Meghan that you just can't 'royal' in the US. Anyone who'd listened at all in history lessons would know why not (H famously sneered at the subject at Eton). They were laughed at several times for thinking they were still royal while living there.

I'm sure this very overdue realisation is one of the motives for them coming back; it's been made clear to them that their royal status has no meaning whatsoever in America and trying to insist on titles would just get them laughed at.

DH has a theory that the palace are not happy at the thought of a young prince and princess if the realm being fully American with no understanding of British culture and zero affinity with it.

He wonders if it has been said or implied that if those kids aren't Britished up they'll all be relieved of their titles. Which is why Megz has agreed.

That’s a very good point.

Good points.

It was always clear that them choosing Lilibet was essentially a dog pissing to mark its (royal) territory. It was them wanting their cake and to eat it too.

Harry has always wanted to be royal on his terms.

Thank you for new thread, I have skipped 10+ pages of last thread as been busy.
You can all speak for yourselves I am fucking demure, I am a bloody lady and I will be treated as one.
I have to a degree zoned out of the ham bullshit as it has become boring, predictable and frankly annoying.
A new little feral cat has turned up at the farm with 2 tiny kittens and I am on kitten milk duty to help mum regain her strength. Better for my soul than 2 dysfunctional wankers heaping their misery on to others.
I am stock piling popcorn for sentabale court case.

Excuse the derail but is there any chance you could call your nearest branch of Cats Protection?

They will help trap and neuter this little mum and ditto the kittens otherwise she will be pregnant again very fast and the feral cat population grows so fast and gets interbred plus visiting toms spread FIV causing generations of suffering.

The mum can come back straight after neutering if the farm wants her there.
Kittens can be tamed, if caught early enough, and then go to domestic homes which is a safer life for them. Or can return to the farm if too wild and again if they are wanted.

The charity will fund the veterinary care although donations are extremely welcome.

When I retired from nursing I became volunteer feral trapping and homing officer for my local CP so if I hear of any unneutered ferals I am afraid I have to stick my five eggs in!

Hope you don’t mind the suggestion.

Too true. Also "Lilibet" - not even Elizabeth 🙄

I've never been able to unsee the American comic book character whenever I hear that poor child (Archie) mentioned.
