For the uber wealthy elite and celebs, trust is everything.
They do not - with very good reason - trust HAM not to use any info/experiences gained for their own profit.
Everything HAM has touched has turned to 💩
Predictably so.
Jam? Rose? Hardly a usp.
The very easily disprovable lies told about the RF in the OW interview and the dreadful "memoir" just make them look utterly mad.
Harry has done exactly what Diana would have done, had she lived - Married a celeb/tech bro from the US and slowly lost touch with reality.
Harry has ishoos no doubt, but it's their kids I feel sorry for.
Being the child of a narcissist is awful 😕

I don't believe the acting role was taken back because of backlash, there was never one to start with. Netflix haven't commission a 3rd series yet, I believe the reports that Meghan's reps got in touch touting for a role though.

I totally believe that Meghan and/or her reps have been blowing up Guy Ritchie's phone/office but that isn't really being "in talks" about a role in an un-commissioned series.

It gives her a new opportunity to play the victim that the nasty Brits have sabotaged her new role and certain Sussex-friendly parts of the press have even printed it. However it gives Meghan an excuse to spend more time in LA because her role was "cancelled".

But surely you learn from your parents’ mistakes ?
I didn’t have a great childhood ( mother who openly said she never wanted me) yet I have managed to produce - IMO- 3 pretty amazing well balanced adult DC who I am close to plus DGC .

Not everyone does unfortunately

Charles will be ring-fencing that inheritance with water-tight trust fund stuff.

Hope he puts Anne, Sophie and Catherine in as the trustees 😉

As discussed elsewhere, I wonder if all this bluff and bluster is merely camouflage for another NF documentary about them. Including perhaps a last hurrah at the UK after going posturing at his mum’s grave.

It would explain uprooting the children too. Perhaps their inclusion was non negotiable?

Anyway. They’ve got the headlines and upset they likely longed for.

At least they managed that.

sunandpeonies · 23/08/2026 13:39

I reckon H was about to be turned down for his USA visa/citizenship so didn’t have much option but to come to the UK if he wants to make money.

"Isn't ol' Marcus a confirmed bachelor?"

"I thought Markus was open to taking different pathways in life"

Loving the subtlety in both of these Grin

Starryfifty · 23/08/2026 13:54

I have always found HAM as parents very odd. When they speak about them it's as if they don't know them at all 🤔 she was caught on the hop about their favourite snack/cookie or such like and she was genuinely baffled. Harry has said Archie screams and clings to him when he leaves or arrives home. That's not normal behaviour for a 7 year old. The staged photos look so disconnected.

Mylovelygreendress · 23/08/2026 08:43

Well there’s no way M will walk behind Catherine! Looking back at the ( few) occasions the 4 of them were together H and M always tried to walk beside them if possible in fact at the walk about for the late Queen , H can clearly be seen gently pulling M back from pushing ahead .

Meghan pushes ahead of Harry, a blood Prince, of course she’s going to try to push ahead of married-in-like-me-except
-I- was-a-self-made-uber-woman-first-and-look-at-my-entrepreneurialness-now Kate Middleton/ Waity Kaity (let me just remind people in my Oprah interview that’s that what she was, but oh wasn’t that a cruel moniker, the tabloids were so mean to her but of course nowhere near as mean as they’ve been to me)! I’m pretty sure Meghan will think she’s a higher achieving, more successful woman than Kate. She’d have grounds to think that all Kate has she achieved through marriage, the very thing Meghan is constantly accused of and Kate never, which Meghan will HATE. Except she can’t say this because Kate bagged the King and Meghan got the Prince, which she will also hate!

But I think if she or Harry have enough dealings with the MIGS again, they’ll find the structure quite different from when they left in 2020. Kate, especially, will be cordoned off and protected fiercely as the future of the monarchy, and this will be felt by H&M. Kate will be off bounds completely. Charles and his team will be deferring to her advancement, too, she’s that integral to the monarchy’s future. Pretty much what she says will go, and I think what Kate will say is what William wants and what she thinks would be best for her children.

It really leaves H&M doing their own things regardless, like parallel play. That Closer magazine/rag article (Closer seems to have become a British outlet of choice for H&M, perhaps their publicist has a contact there?) says Meghan says (who knows) “we don’t need them”, meaning Kate and William. That’s a nicer way of saying nobody owns the word Royal, Harry is a prince too, my kids are a Prince and Princess too, Charles wants us back, we can just do our own thing with/without Kate and William. Doesn’t have to be a competition (as she’s said before), there’s enough space for everyone. It’s the kind of advice you read on MN threads tbh. She’ll never win, but she’ll say she’s not competing. However, the media and the people want to see them compete - same as Fergie and Diana.

As for Meghan ever curtsying to Kate: she curtseyed to QE2, to Camilla and Charles as PoW. If she doesn’t to Kate and William it’ll be a statement which she knows will be picked up on. She’d rather avoid being in public with them than that, she knows she can never win (in a competition she will say she doesn’t want to participate in). I mean, if random members of the public aren’t required to bow and courtesy (and I never would, to any human, ever) I kind of see the point. But then I would never accept a gong or title either so As Ever, Meghan ain’t going to escape her hypocrisy! If she thinks she can rewrite the rules of this monarchy to suit herself (just because I carry a title, doesn’t mean I have to buy into the whole thing and curtesy to someone), she picked the wrong prince to marry!

Gosh, I wonder whether she ever reflects on the extent to which she landed on her feet when she hooked Harry. Where would she be now but for him, I wonder. I’ve no doubt she’s still better off with him than without, regardless of just how dud a man and husband he must be to live with.

MargaretThursday · 23/08/2026 13:54

I think HAM have aspects of a friend who was reasonably well off, then after an incident went from being able to afford what they wanted (within limits), to being on benefits and really struggling.
But she always thought that in 6 months she would be back on her feet and working again and able to afford what she wanted.
So she'd sign up for interest free credit for that new gaming computer her ds wanted, costing £3k, start paying in 6 months, persuade the local dance school to let her dd have a term trial at a lesson every day on the basis she could pay them from the start of next term, and spend the £30 she got back from the tax man on takeaway pizzas when the children needed new school shoes...
But then in 6 months time she was in the same position and had to give back the computer and pull her dd out of dancing with far worse effects than if she'd just told them in the first place that she couldn't afford it. And it was never her fault; it was others for not telling her the obvious.
She had to hit rock bottom before she got the impetus to get herself out of this situation, and even then it took far longer than she thought it would.

I think HAM is similar. In 6 months' time they will (in their heads) have persuaded the public that they're really lovable, and As Ever will be profitable, M will have a starring acting role and H will be back being a WRF member again.
Then when it doesn't happen they're devastated and it's clearly someone else's fault because it should have happened. and wouldn't if it wasn't for that pesky press
So when they put out items such as "M in talks for this role" in her mind she's certain to get one in the next couple of months, so it doesn't matter.
But they make no effort to actually try and do anything about it, because it will just happen.

If I was KC I'd put out a very bland statement along the lines of:
Welcome back to the UK, hope you are pleased to be back (ie no delighted to have you back)
As they are back as private citizens, they will not being joining the WRF at any events, which is their wishes. (hopefully that will stop the will they/won't they be on the balcony etc)
In the same front we ask that the press does not publish photos of them, speculate nor report on their day to day business, that is again their wishes. (hopefully dampening down any attempts they have to grab the headlines)

And if I really wanted to be snipy I'd beat the HAMS at their game of "leaks" and say that as Christmas is a family time and we're sure that Doria will be missing the closeness of them with the move, so they won't be spending Christmas at Sandringham.
Phrased in such a way to sound caring and that if they don't go and spend Christmas with Doria it will look like they're not thinking of her, while being clear to them that they are not welcome to come. Hopefully that would end speculation there too. BP PR is far better at that sort of word working that I am.

IMHO, the old money country set will freeze them out...they don't need the HaMs and they want the multi-generational relationships with the Crown via William and George. You don't get to remain old money without teaching each generation how to choose the winning side.

But the celebrities will initially embrace HaM and then have spectacular fallouts as the HaMs have not changed one iota and will treat celebrity relationships as transactional. Just like in America, the celebrity "friends" will eventually walk away from HaM's unnecessary drama-llama nonsense.

Yes - I think they will. Choosing the Cotswolds is an odd choice for them even though several LA celebs have temporarily relocated there. I can't imagine Meghan fitting in with the country set, nor with the celebrities such as Clarkson or the Beckhams, nor the retired politicians such as David Cameron and George Osborne ...

Harry, it appears, seems to be returning to his childhood. But has he lived there in the past decade? Will the friends he remembers longingly and his days as the happy chappy, pampered prince actually want to reconnect with him and Meghan?

BasiliskStare · 23/08/2026 13:56

I could see M being besties with Ellen for a while - I think they are still friendly with her and Portia de Rossi. & those two I think have a spare house in the Cotswolds , so possibly renting at mate's rates. ( I don't know that , I have no inside information - don't take that as fact - they are probably renting somewhere completely different ) . But I can see M might think of the Cotswolds as a sort of UK Montecito - ( lots of celebrities in vast houses ) - and if she wants to stay in London I am sure Soho House is always available. I think there's enough for her to do in the short term. They are on W's home turf though & I think eg the Beckhams with whom they were once friendly will always side with KC and W.

I agree. Young people don't care about the royals. The Sussexes are old enough to be their parents anyway. Not remotely 'cool'.

Quite. It wasn’t long ago that pps on here were referring to them as a young couple. I know 40 is the new 30 etc, but notwithstanding that they are definitely a middle-aged couple- and were from the start really.

No problem with that in itself but it’s used both by the HAMs and their supporters to make them seem vulnerable, wide-eyed and victimised when they’re really a dozy man-child and a performative drama queen.

My take on the Times story is that they have seen the negative reaction from the British public and are going to pretend a departure from the UK was planned in the first place. Thinking they can just waltz into Australia or Canada without visas shows their arrogance. Poor kids.

I read the announcement within minutes of it going out and it said it was a temporary move expected to last about 6 months. Did it change as the day went on?

Lunde · 23/08/2026 14:10

JSMill · 23/08/2026 12:21

No it’s not normal to secure a school place in August. Schools try to wrap up their business before the end of term, which is earlier in private schools. I am inclined to think some strings have been pulled here. The school has opened itself up process the application and extra places have been found. I believe private schools have that discretion. I work in a primary school which regularly feeds children to the surrounding private schools in the area so I have an inkling about what goes on.

Don't people have to pay their fees for the September-Christmas term before the summer holidays?

So if 2 places have "suddenly opened up" it means a family has dropped out who are prepared to walk away from +/- £100,000

... or they secured places months ago but chose to drop the news just as the Royals arrived in Balmoral for their holidays 🙄

RecoIIectionsMayVary · 23/08/2026 14:10

I agree with the pp, there is an undercurrent being reported - people know why they are leaving the US but can't print it.

Cismyfatarse · 23/08/2026 14:11

If they do go for the Christmas walk, I assume the younger children don’t do the walk until old enough to sit through the service. So they can still keep their kids’ faces away from the cameras.

Also, watching The Crown (Season 1 - How did I never watch this????) And the emphasis on duty, family, loyalty is stark in comparison with their focus on money, celebrity their “own truth”.

TheTwerkingDuchessOfMonteshitshow · 23/08/2026 14:12

SqueakyDinosaur · 23/08/2026 13:05

They really are disgraceful people. Uprooting the children at short notice, dragging them halfway round the world, and now messaging that it's not a permanent move. When their idiocy mostly rebounds on them, that's one thing. When it's the children, that's different. And despicable.

But do we know that they haven’t been planning this since last year or even the last 6 months and the children have been involved in the move and prepared for it.

I suspect they’ve known for ages they were doing this and they released their statement to coincide with most of the RF being in Balmoral/under the same roof. I can just imagine the pair of them wakening up that day and one saying to the other - right we’ve lit the fuse now let’s stand well back and think of the fallout going on over breakfast.

If they really do come back I think there might be a couple of issues there, MargaretThursday

Firstly, it appears so many are clicking on these articles that I can't see anything stopping the media's will they/won't they nonsense

And secondly, not being part of the WRF may not be their wish - or certainly not Harry's - any more, and if that's true it'll just be more tantrumming in pursuit of his way

Starryfifty · 23/08/2026 14:23

There is just no way they can be working royals. Not as it stands. H can do as much chest tapping as he likes. They are more dysfunctional as ever. The constant leaks/ drama, security nonsense, etc. Maybe in a few years after some careful management but I don't think HAM have the patience for it

The Sussex children are of the age to do the Christmas walk - the Wales children did it at around their ages (George was 6, Charlotte and Louis were both 4).

But I expect it is up to the parents whether they think their children will cope. The Tindall children were between 4 and 8.

weegielass01 · 23/08/2026 14:43

so (and this is 100% genuine), DSis has connections who live in Montecito and it seems H&M rarely get involved in activities that are happening the local area yet expect the local area to do what H&M want. eg neighbours should not do things that might disturb our peace / privacy but we can totally do these things to you.
