From that article "the Sussexes are looking for a country house nearby with a budget of around £8million." - If they've got that he doesn't need EJ to bail him out on the ANL costs. " Who knows 😊

AtIusvue · 25/08/2026 18:53

Even if this isn’t a split now. Him being in the UK for the next 15 years while Meg spends most of the time away spells the end of the marriage, even if they don’t know it yet.

It says that they will spend Xmas in Monticeto. So I’m guessing the weeks that she does spend with her kids, will be in California. So summer holidays, Xmas etc

Haven’t a clue!!!

but makes more sense than anything else

I do not jest when I say this is straight out of the Undine Spragg playbook for shedding the husband who was too poor and too boring.
They will quietly sell the mansion they can no longer afford and it will be spun as Meghan not needing such a large place so downsizing to a little pied à terre.

Baital · 25/08/2026 18:56

I thought they were like salt and pepper, they move together?

That 'other people' (I.e. Wiiliam) had to marry for duty, Harry married for love? So they have the greatest love story since Edward VIII and Wallis?

I hope Julia Carling reviews it for the Times.

Ooh that would be delicious! 🍿🤗

He has had so much therapy (he said in interviews) via the royal family and again in california why is he still making the same mistakes? What is so traumatic about his life now that he isnt content

He isn’t The Heir .
His jealousy knows no limits .

Drives me mad that all the old misconceptions are being dragged up on social media - particularly from that article that compiled comparisons of when the press praised Kate for something they dragged Meghan for.

It completely ignored all the articles over decades before Meghan came on r the scene where the press had routinely dragged Kate and her mother and sister.

And people repeating the ‘cradling the bump’ comparison drives me batty because the bump cradling commentary came out because Megan was doing Hollywood performative bump holding posing and it looked weird as hell once you started noticing it.

Any woman who’s been pregnant knows that you touch your bump a lot for many reasons - painful kick, reassurance, protection etc. But unless you are posing specifically for a maternity photo shoot you don’t do that stiff handed hover. Or repeatedly flick your coat sideways in the direction of the cameras to show off your profile, or the Demi Moore two armed bump hug which she did in that black evening dress.

I don’t think it’s necessarily bad that she was posing for the cameras but it was always going to be noticed and remarked on because it looked so odd in rainy old Britain compared to on red carpets in California.

MissFenellaPrism · 25/08/2026 19:02

Oh that stupid BuzzFeed article. Someone keeps quoting it on other threads to demonstrate "hate" against Meghan.

I know we have often discussed their monumental outgoings on here but it occurs to me we have forgotten to factor in the cost of buying first rights (or whatever the correct term is) to proposed projects which fail to materialise eg Meet me at the Lake, the Afghanistan books and probably others I’ve forgotten about. Plus all that jam and rosé.
They are going to have to start reducing outgoings soon!

I do believe Charles is not such an indulgent parent when it comes to spaffing money on a spendthrift daughter in law and her ambitions plus a son with a taste for court action. (Anyone remember Harry offering that Meghan could make her own clothes??? 😂😂😂)

Or Wallace and Gromit?

AtIusvue · 25/08/2026 19:09

So it’s being put out- that Meg can’t possibly leave California because of her white label business…..but she’s happy to leave her kids in an unsafe, racist country without her?

How are those kids going to cope with their mother not being around full time?

All because of this magical ‘British education’ where I presume they learn about the Empire 2.0?

AtIusvue · 25/08/2026 19:11

So they are splitting but trying to keep things amicable for the kids maybe? Make it look like she’s splitting her time for business purposes but is to:

  • get the kids settled
  • see them on holidays from school
  • keep this going for a year or two before they announce a split?

Oh that stupid BuzzFeed article. Someone keeps quoting it on other threads to demonstrate "hate" against Meghan.

I’d forgotten it was Buzzfeed who were known for the cheap and quick viral approach.

There was actually an interesting comparison to be made by a more considered article on how women marrying into the RF are used by the tabloids for revenue by repeating a build them up then knock them down story arc - which never ends.

Except with Kate they got burned by the backlash on the Where’s Kate whirlwind when it was revealed they were bullying a woman with cancer.

So she’s had a shield for a while but since she’s now looking pretty healthy I’ve noticed the downswing of the arc starting to kick in again. So this is perfect timing for the tabs - a chance to use the Sussexes to get some jabs in at the no drama Waleses.

I don’t get the impression that Meghan is a particularly hands on parent and they both leave the DC behind a lot .

It’s unconscious uncoupling. 😉

I’ll be honest….I thought she was. Even if just from a control freak stand point but obviously I’m totally wrong.

AtIusvue · 25/08/2026 18:50

I cannot image why Meg would need to be in California for weeks at a time for as ever.

She posts once a week, from catalogue of old photos….its literally the business definition of phoning it it. I’ve been saying for months!

but apparently she really can’t phone it in and needs to be there….to what? Pack boxes? Arrange croissants?

Why can’t the naff photo shoots be done in a studio here?

They are seriously putting out to the world that she will spend weeks at a time away from the children??? While Harry will play stay at home dad!

Edited

Yes... it's the thinnest excuse for absence ever.

Mummy has to go away for long periods of time because of her career. Her non-existent career, which requires no physical presence and brings in no money. That's why she has to be in a different country from you and Daddy.

Fromhere1 · 25/08/2026 19:24

It is just so strange... So Harry is adamant they must have a British education but they've only been in the Country a handful of times.

Is Meghan really going to not live in the same Country as her children? Really? And we're supposed to believe theirs is a great love story... Hmmmm.. She strikes me as controlling so I'm very surprised she would leave Harry with the kids most of the time.

And I can't imagine that Harry has put in any work at all in keeping up his friendships.... They'll all be nervous of being around him as they won't want to be drawn into the drama.

Her business is nonsense... If she is really going to spend a lot of time in the US then I think they are separated.

I find that really hard to take in - I can’t believe M would fly back to the States and leave the children in the UK for longer than a few days? Would she?

diddl · 25/08/2026 19:26

Had to laugh at this from the Alison Boshoff piece

A friend says-

‘He and Meghan are the best and most committed parents. They are the people who tell their kids: “no tablets [screens] at the dining table”.

I can. She grew up without a mother. She's often left them with nannies for various trips abroad.

You may well be right, it’s just not the impression I get .

diddl · 25/08/2026 19:29

If a British education is so important-why leave, why trash the place?

And of course why would they want their kids anywhere near the racist royals, the dangerous/evil(?) Camilla?

Well, it's never going to make sense is it?

@bluegreygreen
Wow!

That is dynamite.

I’m no worshipper at the shrine of St Diana but I would never have guessed she was that cynical and manipulative.

That has actually quite shaken me.

Me too. In fact I wish I could unread it.
