I'm posting this because William had been criticized for focusing on big picture projects rather than on multiple short appearances. I didn't realized how bad a drought you had this summer:

Our school returns on Wednesday 2nd. Private schools tend to go back a bit later. It is a rush. We had a similar rush when we relocated back to the UK. My dcs did find it all very exciting but I wouldn’t recommend it. While ds2 is chilled and doesn’t need to make friends overnight, ds1 did struggle with not having best buddies overnight. The Sussexes have money and therefore the choice not to do things at haste. They also don’t have jobs that need to start on September 1st like my dh did. Perhaps this has been planned for months 🤷‍♀️.

This is all very true. Assuming the rumours that they already have school places are true, I suppose uniforms can be ordered and delivered to wherever it is they're going to land. And that anything else can be done in due time. Or their 'people' (if they have any left) can be busy doing it for them now.

I wonder if A & L will show up with handmade and lovingly embroidered by their 'mama' book bags. Filled with jam to hand out to their new little friends.

PH job is full time dad and Prince of England so I guess he can start work anytime

That's true.
I do wonder why the Sussex fans call William "workshy"?

SweatyWarrenBetty · 23/08/2026 16:09

A few days before this most recent kerfuffle, someone on this thread (I think) mentioned that there was gossip around Harry having an affair.
Is there any chance this could be the reason for the move and do the press already know, which is why they are writing in riddles?
I don't use gossip sites (except this one, obviously!) so don't know how much weight there was behind the original gossip.
Reading another thread on here reminded me of it (the OP has changed her children's schools because her husband had become friendly with one of the other mums). Thought crossed my mind that HaM could be getting a change of scene to gloss over bad behaviour on his part.

I don't believe the affair rumour. He is besotted with his wife and no woman would touch H. He's vile. His reputation is in tatters in the US also

Starryfifty · 23/08/2026 16:13

Kev O Sullivan commenting that Harry and AMW now can't enter the US 😂 what a terrible look for the RF

diddl · 23/08/2026 16:13

I think the move might be for as long as Charles pays school fees & maybe rent?

I would think the only things that they have now are the kids & ofc Charles will want to see them & Harry.

It will surely come at a monetary price though?

If what they wanted was available/affordable in USA wouldn't they still be there?

It’s been awful @BemusedAmerican. I am in the south east and it’s like a huge dust bowl. This is a picture taken
in one of our local lakes. I really feel for farmers.

I mean that just isn't reality. I have no idea if he is or isn't having an affair, but there are always people willing to have affairs, especially if they are wealthy.

Trump, Boris, Farage...

Yeah, I don't believe the rumour because it sounds like something made up on X or Reddit.

But the reality is that anyone is capable of cheating, no matter how unattractive they are, or how 'besotted' with their partner they may appear to be.

The operative word being 'start'?

Not knocking him if he wants to be a SAHD, obvs he can afford it so bully for him on that score. My esDH was a SAHD for a little over a year due to a work injury and he did a damn fine job. And as a full time working mum it made my life a lot easier.

As far as 'Prince of England' being that he's a NWR, I'd say he's already doing the 'duties' involved that job, which would be none.

I don't know, but I'm guessing you were working full time, not floating about the kitchen and garden, and I suspect you didn't have nannies and housekeepers as well.

I'd see H as being as capable of infidelity as any man, ie very. But if he has been, this is still logically a strange move. In that case and in Megan's shoes, I'd be sending him back to Blighty alone and telling him he might be allowed to return full time if he brings a significant inheritance with him. I wouldn't be meekly following him to a location I hated.

GoodnessGraciousMeh · 23/08/2026 16:35

JSMill · 23/08/2026 08:59

They are very thin skinned. If they aren’t instantly received with flowers and sweets by the British plebs, they won’t stick around and play the long game. Maybe H will, but M
won’t. If she hated the UK in 2018 when she had crowds cheering her in the street, how is she going to cope now, post OW and the NF documentary. I doubt we will see her in public here.

My guess is that they will move back, Meghan will decide she is suicidal again and go and live in the US alone. Then the divorce proceedings will start. Harry will not want to leave again.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 23/08/2026 16:36

If they've enrolled the hamlets in school, shouldn't they be here by now? There's not much time to settle A & L into their new digs, try on uniforms, buy that all important bookbag and pencil case, and be ready and rested for the first day of school

The thought had occurred to me, @AcrossthePond55, as had the one about US school starting dates

As others have said they could doubtless order ahead for any kit, but bringing the kids into a new country and a new school without a settling-in period would hardly be kind

Thoughh glad, I'm actually surprised that nobody's blabbed about which school Archie at least has been attending, but had they done we might have known if he'll turn up for the first day of term, which would be a major key to all this

The abrupt nature of the move, the ever changing stories, lack of a real reason to move, lack of an official statement, the undercurrent that there’s something we are not being told…..I really wouldn’t rule anything out.

Agree, most new pupils have transition days ahead of a school move. Doesn’t look like they will get this

On Celebitchy ( let me get my crucifix and garlic) some are angry with H, blaming his obsession with the racist Salty Island and his racist family. They feel he is reverting to type.

They believe the return may now be linked to the role M has been offered (they haven’t heard that that was all eyewash yet), but this still puzzles them since they believe she could have had any role in Hollywood if she’d wanted it.

They are certainly shocked by the Reverse Megxit and are struggling to make sense of it within their weird universe.

They are certainly shocked by the Reverse Megxit and are struggling to make sense of it within their weird universe.

Because in their weird universe, 'Salty Isle' is full of 'rota rats', foaming at the mouth racists, and as 'establishment' out to get the American Duchess and her gallant husband. And of course the 'left behind royals' are floundering in the absence of the glamorous, hard working Sussexes, left to make do with dull Will and Kate instead.

Why on earth would their heroes return there having made such a grand flounce not 7 years ago? Wasn't her business thriving? Weren't they doing all sorts of 'philanthropy'? Hanging out with A listers? Or maybe not?

Its interesting to note that before they became a Sussex shrine, that site were huge Brangelina fans. Only for everything to be turned upside down with the divorce announcement. I guess there's a lesson there in not becoming too emotionally invested in people you don't know at all.

MrsGusset · 23/08/2026 16:47

JoanChitty · 23/08/2026 14:50

Won’t anyone think of the Sussex squad? How are they supposed to cope now their queen is returning to salty island? I wonder whose side they will take? Someone posted on instagram an array of messages from them. A few have given up on Markle and she doesn’t deserve support, others see Harry as the millstone that’s bringing such a talented woman down.
There’s only one way to sort this out, FIGHT!

It has been amusing to see the Sussex fans scrambling to come up with a face-saving reason for HAM's Great Return. One idea that I've seen tossed around goes something like this:-

Since becoming Prime Minister Andy Burnham has realised what useless deadbeats W&K are so the Government have re-arranged the line of succesion to place Harry ahead of William.

Then Burnham begged the Sussexes to come back for the sake of the country and promised that if they return he will force Charles to abdicate, enabling Harry to become King.

So no tawdry motives for HAM - like money, visa, IRS problems, etc. And the UK will get the benefit of King Henry IX and – best of all – Her Majesty Queen Meghan. Rejoice!

And however red the flags are, some women will still hook up with a dodgy man - drawn like moths to a flame. Look at the many women who’ve married or had relationships with Charles Spencer!

I can’t read the article

This is the contradiction of the UK media.

They want frequent public appearances for clicks but also a slimmed down monarchy and a modernised monarchy.

Ultimately long term projects are sensible, look at Kings (Princes) Trust, Duke of Edinburgh Awards. Earthshot, homelessness, early years etc. are about building for the long term. They are like icebergs the visible bit is small but there is a lot below the surface we don’t see.

The drought has really impacted farmers.

AtIusvue · 23/08/2026 17:25

If school starts in just over two weeks…..shouldn’t they be here already to settle the kids in?

A international move and start a new school days later seems to be the plan. How irresponsible is that
