I read this article in the DM which was originally brought to my attention by my MIL, who has a very keen interest in goings-on involving the RF.

'His absences have not gone unnoticed': Norman Baker asks when 'workshy William' is going to step up https://mol.im/a/15908021

I must admit I was surprised to learn that William has attended fewer events than KC and Anne over the last 3 years. I agree with the sentiment that he needs to step up to ease the burden on his father.

NORMAN BAKER asks when 'workshy William' is going to step up

He might be a present husband and father, but when it comes to carrying out royal duties, the Prince of Wales is 'workshy', a royal expert has claimed.

Thank you. I was confused!

I did have to check myself! I’m on both 😁

So what if it it’s undeserved? It is fact. Also fact that they could walk and haven’t done so.

Is that what you are upset about? People who enjoy unearned privileges? I’m sure you do as well. Doubtful there is a soul posting on this board today who does not.

I wonder what women born into cultures where women enjoy no rights at all would think about our unearned privileges including the right to sit here and chat shit about someone with more money for no real purpose.

I’m starting to think you’re one of those ‘royal fans’ 😂

You should try it, you might actually form a critical opinion.

I have plenty of critical opinions. I think we are meant to be polite though. 🤣

That is a tad rude !

ES appears to be little more than a greenwashing vehicle buffing the public image of a royal hypocrite.

You can report your greenwashing concerns to the charity commission then. Why don’t you try that and come and tell us how you get on?

I don't think they'd be very interested in how many private jets and helicopters W uses to get to and from his numerous holidays and forever homes or his enthusiasm for blasting away at the wrong kind of wildlife even if it does involve him positioning himself entirely without irony as an eco-warrior.

CathyorClaire · 26/06/2026 20:23

I think HMQE set the tone of not lowering themselves to answer because it simply feeds the horde.

If they won't lower themselves to answer for fear of feeding the horde, how does an increasingly restive horde get answers to pressing questions like who knew what and when about MW without resorting to apparently unpopular tactics like demonstrating at royal events?

They can't have it both ways.

simpsonthecat · 26/06/2026 20:36

So true

Wrote to your MP.
I do
And I have got very reasonable responses given we were redrawn and have a decent one now

CathyorClaire · 26/06/2026 20:37

They are ultra wealthy yet choose to live a life of service.

They are ultra wealthy on the back of decades' worth of unpaid taxes and (particularly in the case of the duchies) milking the public purse so hard it's a surprise their hands haven't fallen off.

I think living a 'life of service' depends on whether you think around six months full time equivalent between them is sufficient to qualify.

Did you purposely copy and paste rather than quote to remove the context of my comment?

What context?

It's not just the blokes. The whole lot embrace the increasingly threadbare 'never complain, never explain' mantra coined by Gan-gan.

It served them well in a less deferential age but thankfully it's wearing thin now.

I think the press are running out of criticisms for Harry so naturally William will be in the firing line. However I do think him & C do very little & I thought this pre cancer.

People comparing with their lives they do have Staff and PAs etc I doubt they have the domestic load of normal people ?

sashh · 27/06/2026 06:49

Have a look t the engagements they do do. William always seems happy to go to a football match.

Kate seems to like Wimbledon.

sittingonabeach · 27/06/2026 07:42

@sashh aren’t they patrons of those sports. Same way Princess Anne is patron of Scottish rugby and goes to their matches

They are patrons of the FA and All England Lawn Tennis Assoc respectively. When they don’t go, they are called lazy and faking cancer.

simpsonthecat · 27/06/2026 09:00

I certainly have never said anything about faking cancer but I'm not sure that going to Aston Villa matches at home and abroad is necessarily part of being the patron of the FA

I don’t think anyone would claim that he’s working when he goes to watch Villa, or that it’s part of his FA role.

simpsonthecat · 27/06/2026 09:17

The previous poster seem to be saying that was the case!

The poster said “happy to go to a football match”, they didn’t specify a team. Are they allowed to have a social life or hobbies? I am sure the William haters would call him a fake fan, who knows nothing about football, hogging a patronage unfairly, if he was never seen at a game. He can’t win.

Let me help, It’s pretty easy to understand - William is Patron of the FA and attends football matches in that capacity. This is work. He is also an Aston Villa fan and attends matches in that capacity. This is not work. So in general - if Aston Villa are playing, not work, if someone else is playing, work.
