Clever @IAmATorturedPoet !

I am actually rather enjoying AI!

I think the addiction element of SM is slightly different, but who knows what AI will throw up!

Addiction being defined as a set of behaviors driven by a product (drug, sm, nocturne etc).

MarmaladeorJam · 26/05/2026 18:09

No other country is interested

Don't be silly.

Have you missed all the worry about a mental health crisis in the young?

There is enough concern that some of the biggest and most important institutions in the world are looking into it.

This is a good thing.

It is also grabbing hold in the East, with countries like Japan, South Korea etc taking note.

A common denominator is the rise and hold of SM.

So, when you said in your earlier post ‘off the top of my head’ it actually wasn’t then. 😁

Lets me rephrase that for you !
no other country is interested in hearing unqualified speeches from celebrities that they have never heard of!
harry and Meghan are discussed here because of the connection with royalty and our media pushing them ! , the us has some interest but less , no other countries particularly care .🤷‍♀️

Funny that.

She worked on the show for seven years and would have dealing with a massive amount of people over that time period.

However, it is hard to find accounts about how horrid she was, apart from stories like these - my cousins friend lives in Toronto and ...

I mean - if she was as bad as they suggest, we could expect quite a few verifiable accounts of poor behavior, no?

There was the letter sent by her stepbrother warning Harry that marrying Meghan would be the biggest mistake he could make.

Oh I don’t know, the Director of the Reitmans commercial thought she was the meanest persons he had ever met……

Yes and she apparently “ borrowed outfits and shoes “ from that set too! , these shoes that she wore for the engagement announcement! 🤔

KittyTinker · 26/05/2026 20:14

Bill Simmons the Spotify boss who called them (a naughty word) grifters.

BigWillyLittleTodger · 26/05/2026 20:15

Her posting a photo of her child is not the same as her child being online.

Agreed it’s definitely not the same, it’s far worse, those children cannot consent to being used as marketing tools to sell her tat, she is no better than a common or garden influencer using their children to merch.

Indeed! And outfits from suits! , Meghan is very forgetful.

BigWillyLittleTodger · 26/05/2026 20:23

She wasn’t very nice to her uncle either, the one who secured her internship in Argentina, he was very hurt he wasn’t in to her wedding and then she hurt his family by not sending a condolence message when he died, par for the course though as he was no further use to her.

Yeah I get it. I have close friends who moved in her circles and met her numerous times. They describe her as fake. A close friend of mine worked at her boyfriend’s restaurant. I have also met her several times.

Close family lived a few doors down from her.

So not really friend of a friend like you are trying to imply. Nothing funny about that except maybe trying to throw shade oh people more in the know.

People in Toronto wouldnt talk about her because she was basically a nobody. Her show wasn’t that popular. It may be now but it certainly wasn’t the n. It was an ensemble cast too so she wasn’t the star: People knew her boyfriend more/. I honestly didn’t know anyone that watched the show.

Peak viewing at the time was around 4 million viewers - the US and Canada have 420 million. Hardly masses of people watching. In Canada it was around 300,000 viewers per episode. So basically less than 1% of the population. As I said she was a nobody.

I was at a very small dinner party, one of the guests was the partner of someone on the show (actor), another guest did ask the question ‘ what was Meghan Markle like ?’ The person screwed up their face and said things ‘changed’ when she hooked up with Harry and insisted on security, she stopped eating with the crew,,which was something they all did together. They were diplomatic, but it was clear she was not liked at that point.

Her childhood friend, who’s family took her on holidays with them, doesn’t speak too highly of her, and her ex manager also, even her own family, (for what that’s worth). There are plenty of people in her past and current life who have nothing good to say about her, It’s to the credit of her ex partners who have never commented one way or the other, none of whom have made any positive comments about her, nor any comment at all.

Suits really wasn't a big show when it was first shown. It was a soap-like cable show that aired on the Dave channel in the UK in a later evening slot.

If Meghan hadn't married a Prince it would have dropped off everyone's radar years ago. There was another similar show, "White Collar", that also aired on Dave around the same time but I doubt many people remember that.

Her profile raised that profile.
After all, the social media companies bury this story in algorithms. So how do you get it out there?
With that in mind, if you put someone like MM in front of a mike, people will talk. Some will talk about their dislike of her, some will talk about her fashion/skin/jewelry etc, some about the royals, some about her kids, some about polo, and some about the issue at hand.
But, the point is - people talk.
This thread is an example of that.
She served them well.

To a certain extent, perhaps. @MarmaladeorJam.

However, there is now so much focus on the Sussexes (primarily due to their behaviour) that any cause they may be supporting gets lost in the noise.

As I said in another post a few days ago, I wanted to look up the memorial, so searched for 'lost screen memorial geneva'. The first 3 pages of results were all headlines about Meghan travelling to Geneva for the opening of the memorial.
It wasn't until I removed 'geneva' from the search that the results included the link to the memorial page.

I spent some time on the website when I finally found it. It's a page where you can read the stories of the young people who died. I read 5 or 6.
The stories are very sad, and the parents are understandably upset about the role that social media has played in their deaths.

The page is simply a memorial.
There is no link or signpost to any online resource, or organisation that could help, if you are a child, or a parent of a child struggling with social media.
As someone who works with children, it felt like a wasted opportunity.

One other point: some of these children were described as being 'addicted to social media by the age of 13'; the implication being that they were involved with social media before that age. All the big companies have 13 as a lower age limit, (some with specific defaults below 15 requiring parent/guardian involvement).

While recognising that there are huge issues with social media companies and their algorithms, I think there is room to consider parental responsibility too.

I and many others believe you ! , it takes bravery to stick your head up and tell the truth about a certain couple! @Besafeeatcake, I commend you too! , when there is so much smoke the house is practically falling down! , only a blinkered fool ignores it! 👍
