The UK has never claimed to be a "multicultural paradise" has it?
Harry's own racism and vile boorish behaviour is well documented, so he's hardly above reproach.

Using someone her father did or said 20 odd years ago as excuses for snide swipes at Lili? The comments about that little girl online are absolutely disgusting.

No. You obviously failed to read my posts .
Read them, seriously, rather than making accusations.

I agree. You shouldn't comment on a young child's appearance like that. By all means laugh at Harry's ludicrous hair situation in the picture, but Princess Lilibet should be left alone.

Read this post of mine, @Seagullsandsausagerolls .
Don't accuse people of things they haven't said.

I’m sorry but there isn’t anything remotely wierd about the photo. It’s posed so that their dc’s faces can’t be recognised in public. And that’s fine by me.

When you are raising young children, your life inevitably becomes all about them, so I can understand why they want to record this; it’s a snapshot of the family as they are now.

I think it is in very poor taste of op
and others to comment about a child’s appearance; whether it’s about hair or clothing!

And frankly if you look at this photo and the first thing that springs to mind is negativity rather than wishing a young family well, then it’s time to do something else with your time that’s more positive.

You don’t think Harry’s head looks weird? What about Lili’s legs? The position of Archie’s foot? Meghan and Lili’s hands? Meghan’s ankles? Archie full of movement, Lili stock still? Harry’s sad looking face? Meghan’s forced grin - pressing her forehead against her child’s head? The composition - like two pictures spliced together or something. It does look weird, how can you deny that? At the very least this photo has been photoshopped. And if someone has spent enough time concentrating on this photo to photoshop it then they must have noticed that Meghan’s skirt is see through. So the decision to publish a picture with a see through skirt on was deliberate; that’s interesting surely? No one is blaming the children for any of this or criticising their appearance. I feel sorry for them.

simpsonthecat · 20/12/2025 16:53

I agree. Someone called her scruffy and unkempt. How nasty can you be to direct that at a little girl.

I used the term “scruffy” about the whole family, I did not refer to the girl, nor did I say she was unkempt or indeed make any comment about her appearance at all. So it looks like you’re conflating posts in a misleading way to make your point.

OlympicWomen · 20/12/2025 17:21

Do you not have a million and one things to do at this busy time of the year?

And are equally up for discussion and debate.

Correct.

But taking a swipe at these people for a staged Christmas photo that clearly isn't designed to be in the family album when their relatives across the pond do exactly the same comes across as scraping the bottom of the barrel.

Nope - finished cleaning the house and walking the dog with my husband, just chilling out with my phone in front of the telly and having a cup of tea before I get dressed up to go out to a party. Is that acceptable with you?

Harry's own racism and vile boorish behaviour is well documented, so he's hardly above reproach.

It is a paraphrase of many comments here by British people, heard especially at the time of the departure of H&M, in the style of 'butter wouldn't melt..' So many people were shocked and in complete denial at that time.

Again, other then by birth they are not royal children, they are celebrity children. They have no role in the RF, nobody needs to see them or know anything about them.

What do you mean - 'other than by birth'? The children are descendants of British monarchs going back into the mists of time. They are 'royal' children.

The entire 'role' of the RF is based on celebrity, an aura that is carefully created and maintained by PR experts. The RF plays the game and the public swoons. The official role of the monarch is a polite fiction dating from 1688 that is supported by the public performance of specialness by the other members of the family until they publicly shit their drawers and get the rug yanked out from under their feet (AMW) or are politely told by the PM that they have to go (Edward VIII).

Right. Ok, I suppose also that some people, those "Little Englanders" perhaps, would also be prepared to overlook the worst of Harry's behaviour because he is a Royal Prince.
Dreadful.

If the British royal family, or the Swedish or the Belgiums had released an image as odd as this one as their official Christmas card image I would also comment.

In fact, on the Christmas card thread I did note that the backgrounds of the Spanish and I think Belgian images looked a bit odd as though it had been superimposed.

It's not taking a swipe. It's questioning why someone so high profile chose that specific image as the one to go with.

Confused Little Girl GIF

Oh right

Port1aCastis · 20/12/2025 18:10

mathanxiety · 20/12/2025 16:49

Agree.

Criticism of the little girl's appearance are truly below the belt. It's easy to understand how the couple decided the UK wasn't the multicultural paradise it claims to be.

Agree
Can't believe grown women are being so vile about a little girl.

But they aren’t part of any of that. They’re detached, exiled.

If someone says that they all look scruffy, they’re referring to the children as well. It’s really unpleasant to comment on the children in that way and just because you didn’t refer to the children or the girl separately when saying it, doesn’t mean you’re not calling the children scruffy.
