This is so completely fabricated. There is no way Carole or Michael for that matter could engineer William & Kate's relationship. The royals are notoriously insulated even the most aspirational of parents would struggle to break into the upper middle classes if they were not born within them.

It Was Apparently Always Carole Middleton’s Master Plan for Eldest Daughter Kate to Meet and Woo Prince William, New Book Claims

“Carole set things up, and Kate took it the rest of the way.”

I have no doubt Carole Middleton is a smart and capable woman, but she’s not Catherine de Medici is she?

Bonkers claim.

Bahhumbug23 · 30/11/2023 10:30

@FirstFallopians it's crazy that this tripe is still being published!

It’s funny how it’s always the women who are accused of being social climbers and not the woman, is it? God forbid Michael might have wanted his daughter to marry Prince and be future Queen 🤔

Typical misogynistic bullshit!

Marie Claire has definitely fallen in my estimation if they publish this tripe. I'm sure many a parent has fantasised about an encounter between their child and Royalty and what might happen, and sure maybe encouraged and tried to make such a meeting happen, but to say she planned this years ahead, convinced her daughter to switch her uni choice on the off chance she'd get in to St A, and the chance she'd meet William, and then that they'd fall in love...
Parents for ever have wanted their children to marry well, and certainly matches were engineered back in the day. But to think this was in Mrs Middleton power is silly. Not even master momager Kris Kardashian can get her kids to fall for the right guy/gal!

AdultLounge · 30/11/2023 11:02

Agree absolute bonkers!

Although would you want your daughter to be a future queen?

Not a great life really? Is it?

If I HAD to choose a royal for marriage to my daughter I'd choose the spare.

They could have the best of both worlds. The glamour and the money but none of the stress.

Ps. Not using Harry as an example here! He got it wrong.

Yes even Pippa lucked out with James Matthews. Can just get on about her life quietly & enjoy her millions in peace!

How many more places is this thread going to appear? It’s all a bit suspect.

User14March · 30/11/2023 11:07

I am in similar circles, am sure the Ms were generally aspirational, many are. No judgement on that.

I can say you’d possibly be amazed at meticulous planning that happens from birth by some. Every possible advantage garnered. An Ivy Leagues of some stripe, pretty much then guaranteed & all requisite networking ops & ‘superior’ marriage pool in place. Of course some kids have mind of own but a surprisingly amount with these kind of strategic parents fall in line & sun generally smiles.

Ofc the way is barred for majority as you need vast resources to make it so. It’s interesting to see how the hands are played…

monpetitlapin · 30/11/2023 11:10

Clickbait to promote a book. That's all.

Mydahliasareshit · 30/11/2023 11:12

Grandpa Middleton might well have thought there was a chance, seeing as he'd been Philip's buddy and literal 'wing man' on tour in South America. They don't just let any old bird share student digs with the future King.

What we DO know is that William turned up to his funeral with a wreath, perhaps from Philip too. Whereas he hadn't even been introduced to Carole's parents.

spanieleyes · 30/11/2023 11:12

Of course the Middletown's wanted their children to " do well" , the vast majority of parents want the same for their children! But how on earth did they guarantee that they had striking looking children, able academically ( even the best education doesn't guarantee that!) attracted to and attractive to the opposite sex, and having that special something that attracts a specific person. Even the most meticulous planning doesn't guarantee that!

Bahhumbug23 · 30/11/2023 11:16

@spanieleyes exactly. It's impossible!

OP posts:
User14March · 30/11/2023 11:19

@spanieleyes genetics will guarantee ‘success’ if you have a few children, if you measure ‘success’ as you’ve described. Far more is inherited than people want to accept, and whilst nothing is guaranteed, the odds dramatically increase.

Anyone with at least an average intellect, with the requisite drive & helpful confidence, £ & sportiness, can get to top/coveted/first rate university to study something or other.

spanieleyes · 30/11/2023 11:26

@User14March
Well, yes. But that doesn't mean they will be the " type" a specific individual ( ie Prince William) would find attractive!

I deliberately had one tall blonde haired, willowy son and one short dark haired chubby son so they could attract the widest range of potential partners! Unfortunately, neither of them seem to be the type attractive to a member of the royal family😭

User14March · 30/11/2023 11:34

You weren’t trying hard enough @spanieleyes ;)

It’s poss to guess who the ‘establishment’ men, poss rather depressingly, want to marry. Note marry. A steel core a pre-requisite re: defence mechanism at least.

Patricians generally beget patricians.

Bahhumbug23 · 30/11/2023 11:39

At least if it's even slightly true Kate will have a special radar for social climbing parents in Lambrook!

OP posts:
Roussette · 30/11/2023 11:42

I have no idea if this is true, but nothing would surprise me.

I have a niece who married a really rich guy who works for someone titled (can't say who). She has changed beyond recognition!
Their boy and girl are literally earmarked for W&K's kids! And they're the right age. Their ridiculous names and the schools they go to will fit in nicely. It would not surprise me if they didn't engineer the kids to trail round where the Royal children go.

My niece has changed how she talks now too... Shock

Roussette · 30/11/2023 11:47

OMG and I've just realised something... my niece lives close to Lambrook and they moved there when their kids were due to go to school... I know they are at private school... probably there!

I just hope someone actually sues OS (and his publishers) and he has to stand up in court and defend this complete shite and reveal all his sources. Having to pay huge amounts of costs and damages would be the cherry on top.

Bahhumbug23 · 30/11/2023 12:04

Ridiculous dragging Carole into this & rehashing bullshit that the British tabloids printed nearly 20 years ago.

OP posts:
ALittleTeawithmilk · 30/11/2023 14:13

Well Endgame is about the whole family - and Carole is frequently photographed at royal occasions?

I find it really hard to believe people would plan like this. I don’t know why, because I’ve read similar sorts of examples of it all down through history. Families working to put their daughters in front of a king. So I guess it could still happen today, although I’d like to think we are more evolved than that. Although we possibly aren’t. ‘History may not repeat but it echoes’ to
paraphrase Mark Twain (I think he was the writer who said that).
