I think it's obviously the idea of how early years parenting growing up family dynamics can be beneficial support nature you or if you come from Dysfunctional backgrounds how it can affect you (mess your head literally at times,
Neglectful parenting can affect even the way your mind works,

My only issue is why is the empathis so much weighted towards being a productive member of society

Why isn't this equally as just as important simpley for society as a whole,

Also 1, 500 pounds worth of Designer Blazer Princes of Wales AkA Kate was wearing ,

When people struggling to keep warm ect cost of living Crisis,

It's like remisant of the optics being a skewed

Like there infamous tour not so long ago, on their Commonwealth World tour in Jamica ect,
reminsant harking back to 1940s era of when Queen then a Princess rode alongside on a white jeep

I may have it wrong in regard it just looks like it's just weighed more on business commerce ect

I have nothing against Kate. But what qualifies her for this job other than being married to the heir to the throne. All wrong. She has hardly even had a proper job.

Why can't she have a meeting and get things done without a Big Photo Op? It's rather pathetic. She was talking with cue cards too. Can she not speak without them? Saying exactly the same things as before with no actual details. 🥱

Well I have no idea what the purpose of the meeting was or what she's hoping these industry leaders will do, but from what I have seen her overall objectives are worthwhile and if being royalty is getting people to sit up and engage, then it's no bad thing. Let's just hope there some positive action from it in future and it hasn't just been a photo op.

Nothing qualifies her for this job. Absolutely nothing. Nothing qualifies any of them (royal family) to live in obscene wealth and hold positions of power. The fawning over them and breathless "she's wearing blah blah, etc." really, really has no place in a country where an elderly woman was left on the floor of a pub waiting for an ambulance for hours on end (see other upsetting thread here).

Pah to the royals. How they can prance around like show ponies is beyond all my comprehension.

Yeah, the royal family are experts on all those issues, aren't they? I guess they don't need to look very far for examples.

Thanks @RYGO, as said I'm aware of the overall aims, but having looked at the page via your link with regards to that specific meeting I'm actually disappointed it tells us very little! I guess we wait and see.

What are the actual action points for parents/society/businesses? Any tips? It's all a load of nice-sounding fluff.

What are the actions? is this another awareness raising campaign? we are past that point surely.

One of the actions around business involvement in early years development is around business using their voice to support a focus on the impact that employment policies can have on future generations -so one 'ask' of the Centre for Early childhood already highlighted was around the need for organisations to offer fair paid leave - including encouraging businesses to supplement statutory provision. The CfEC also cited the example from the US called "Ready Nation" which has 3000 business leaders signed up to it and calling for UK business leaders to follow suit - I would imagine the task force announced yesterday is similar to the advisory board of Ready Nation linked below and presumably this board will be asked to lead by example in creating a work environment that addresses the need to have that future generation focus - the US version appears to have developed various workstreams - will be interesting to see how the UK version develops https://www.strongnation.org/readynation/about-us

She's bringing people together who might have been hard/impossible to get together otherwise. Plus getting them to devote time/effort to the project.

I think this is just one element of taking action based on the research of the early years centre.

What I’m hoping is the business involvement will lead to better working practices to support the parents of children under five - so finding ways to make those first five years better for working parents which will improve the welfare of the families.

Might look like more flexible working practices, more employment based childcare, better company cultures so that management and HR understand that parents of young children might have different needs in terms of sick leave etc.

There might be an element of bigger businesses investing money in their communities to support lower income parents of the under fives.

I think the language around creating a better workforce is the carrot for the business world about why they should care and get involved in supporting the early years.

For those saying what qualifies Kate to do this - it’s more about convening power and the time and energy that people can bring to a project when they’ve got unlimited personal resources and time. It’s why most big charity foundations are spearheaded by wealthy people with connections, influence and time.

I agree. The whole point of Royals being involved in these initiatives and charities is for the publicity/exposure to benefit the cause by raising awareness. Looks as if Kate has achieved that, after all, there's a post on MN about it here!

She doesn't need to. Her role in this is to get the right people round the table.

(Also she may well know a bit about business, unless she's never seen her parents at work or heard them talk about the family firm. We don't know what role she had when she was working for them, either - it may have been an extremely flexible job, but I doubt it was a downright lie about her working for them at all)

Running a business and "having a job" are completely separate things, requiring different skill sets etc. She comes from a family who set up and run a business. But that's not the point, it's not her who'll be dealing with the detail, etc., she'd just a figurehead for raising publicity and awareness.

Just like, say, a Royal who's the chairman of a cancer charity - they don't need to have suffered cancer themselves to be an ambassador for the charity, do they?
