"To tell the truth, he didn't make sure I was happy. He was young." [...] Sadly the encounter marked the end of Sasha's friendship with Harry. From being regular drinking partners, the pair never texted, spoke or saw each other again. [...] Sasha had been jilted a month or so earlier by her long-term boyfriend [...] Harry did not use a condom or discuss protection with her.
So, in short... The way I read this...
Young woman, only a couple of years older than a young man, is upset about breaking up with her first proper boyfriend. The man, a friend, invites her out for a smoke, unexpectedly makes a move, does a very quick pump and dump without any consideration for her satisfaction, and then never talks to her again. Never even checks whether she's pregnant with a view to supporting her through that choice!
The extract I read from the book suggested he was being taken advantage of by an older woman. The interview, however, suggests that he potentially took advantage of an upset female friend and then rather than see if she was OK, ghosted her. Puts a very different spin on the matter.
Recollections may vary, but on stuff like this, the woman is usually more accurate. She comes across much more credibly too.
I'm glad she's corrected the narrative.
