Harry and Megan: changed my mind after episode 5

I was never a massive H&M hater but I wasn't keen on how they kept going on about their experiences and being constant victims. Why not just let it go?

However after episode 5 where they explain the events around their decision to leave, I find myself feeling really bad for them and surprised at how different it was to the narrative we were fed in the press.

If it's all true what they say then it's appalling how they were treated and Im not surprised they want to set record straight.

I know many will say it's not all true and they're lying/ exaggerating but I'm not inclined to believe these royal secretaries/ William / Charles are all saints while H&M are the big villains either.

We only see a very polished version of the royals in public and everything is well controlled and orchestrated. Who's to know what it's really like behind the facade?

Knowing where they live and actually being able to see the interior layout, external doors, windows and perimeters if any - are different things. This is not rocket science, surely.

My point is that they are acting, it is not real-life, they went to "work" and recreated events according to them.
I don't think I criticised; I think I said I can't take it or them seriously.
Anyone can do what they want, if they want to hire a house for glitzy photos, go ahead. However, to me, it was like they are acting on set.

BTW I loved her office with the cream and black pictures on the wall - if was her actual office.

She needed a reason to go back to LA and racism became the reason.

Not saying she wasn't treated badly by the media but no worse than any other women who marries into the RF (funny how men who marry princesses are never treated the same way...?).

All royal babies are photographed literally from birth.

I can’t think of another royal baby whose photo was published while they were in the bath .
I remember the husband of a newsreader ( Julia Somerville ?) was questioned by police for taking photos of his daughter in the bath . He had handed the film into Boots .
I think parents need to protect their children’s privacy .

It's hardly intimate. His face and above his chest as a toddler. I imagine he will feel absolutely fine and loved when he is older so I wouldn't worry.

I know more what the royal children look like as they are presented in footage and photos continually... than Archie. And Lillibet I have no idea what she looks like, as it's just been the back of her head or hazy photos from a great distance as a baby.

You don’t think a photo of a young naked child in a bath is intimate ?

You'd see more of him running around in his swimming trunks on a beach. No I don't think it's intimate.

My DCs are thirties, there was no SM back then and to try to relate back to that time and how different it was is completely impossible.

This is finding things to be picky about.

She was never going to stay no matter how adored she might have been or how accepted she was by everyone. In fact the more adored she was the more she would believe she could transfer that adoration to California. I had no particular feelings about her when she married Harry but even I knew there was no way she would stay to do the mundane things she would have to, the ribbon cutting, the cold wet mornings in a town she’d never heard of etc. I don’t think there’s a single positive thing the RF or the public or the media could have done that would have made her stay.

How can you possibly have ‘known’ all that? You don’t know her. It’s just random speculation. The communities she worked with appeared to say positive things about her. They probably have a better idea than some random peering at the TV saying ‘that one won’t like cutting ribbons’

Assuming you’re replying to me but no matter if you’re not. Well she didn’t stay did she so I was right when I thought she won’t stay. It wasn’t even a particularly negative thought that she wouldn’t stay, I just thought an independent woman in her thirties, from California and in ‘showbiz’ would probably not want the confines of an old British institution. And I was right. So either I’m psychic or I have the ability to make educated guesses. 🤷‍♀️
