Who is the bearded man who is always with King Charles?

Over the last week or so I've noticed a man always with the king, in the front of his car, walking just behind him. I'm guessing he's security or similar, but curious to see if anyone knows who he is? He's putting in long shifts these days anyway!

Johnny the equerry?

MoveMore · 14/09/2022 23:12

It must be his personal protection officer. I’ve noticed him everywhere too he’s quiet distinguished. Even coming off the helicopter when they landed to go back to a high grove he was in the front seat with KC.

I’d love to know how it all works and what their relationship is like (eg would they sometimes talk if just the two of them in the car?). Such a strange role.

I noticed a female during the Wales walkabout at Windsor too she looked great. Sucked out of camera shot at one point!

He was walking in the procession too right behind (to side) Charles towards William. There were four protection officers two either side of the Royals.

It’s not the Jonny guy as he’s been identified and the press have ran pieces about him as assume he can be whereas these bodyguards aren’t named.

It's not Johnny Thompson, the equerry. It's a man in a black morning suit, always right beside the King. I wondered about whether they would chat too MoveMore, you'd imagine working so often and so closely, there will be a strong bond between them.

I've noticed him too. Agree he's putting in long shifts at the moment. I'm guessing he's personal protection. When Charles' car arrived at Edinburgh airport to fly to NI, he jumped out of the car and checked the surroundings before letting KC3 out.

RJnomore1 · 14/09/2022 23:21

It sounds like secret service/security then but I’m off to look at photos

TheSpottedZebra · 14/09/2022 23:22

Auburn-ish hair? Protection officer.

When they came out of St Giles, he had his hand right on his...weapon. Obviously they're always ready, but he was beyond ready, he must have seen something.

Nb you can always tell security from other staff, as other staff's eyes always face front, whereas security obvs have to look round about them.

So what would you need to do to be tackled to the floor by him? Asking for a friend.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 15/09/2022 20:29

Michael Fawcett in disguise ...?

Probably not very much! 🤣

JamMakingWannaBe · 15/09/2022 21:36

We need the Daily Mail to investigate his marital / relationship status...

donquixotedelamancha · 15/09/2022 21:57

That's Camilla.

QuebecBagnet · 15/09/2022 21:59

The Asian guy? He’s a protection officer. He had a taser under his suit jacket outside Buckingham Palace the other day.

TrueNorthernBird · 15/09/2022 22:05

Yep, he's the King's PPO. Built like a brick shit house and around 6'6" I'd say. Prepared to take a bullet for the King, so probably pretty nifty with a weapon himself. Armed to the hilt.

TrueNorthernBird · 15/09/2022 22:06

(Not the Asian bearded guy - also a PPO - the white bearded guy)

Discwriter · 15/09/2022 22:09

Outside St Giles, some of them wore fake hands, so their right hand was on the weapon inside the jacket at all times. Looked pretty impressive!

ShockedConfused1980 · 15/09/2022 22:09

He looks Of Asian descent to me.

I suppose they do develop a relationship with their close protection officers, they have to be able to trust them implicitly.
In fact wasn't there a strong rumour than Diana had an affair with her protection officer?
He was replaced without notice and sometime later mysteriously died in a road accident.......

That's the guy I was referring to.

GiantCheeseMonster · 15/09/2022 22:28

Discwriter, is that true? I read it’s an urban myth that they wear prosthetic hands.

Fake hands? Like Rod Hull and Emu style?

QualityTweet · 15/09/2022 22:30

I hadn’t noticed him. I’m far too busy trying to catch a glimpse of Major Johnny. <swoon>

OhhhhhhhhBiscuits · 15/09/2022 22:32

Thats his close protection officer. They have spoken about him on the news. Apparently been with the King for years.
