Prince Andrew's predicament lies not so much in judge's decision today, but on whether Ms Guiffre wants a day in court more than a settlement. It's a lose/lose for him either way, even if any settlement is 'without admission of guilt'

Also every offer they make is in danger - no matter what they try to wrap it in - of being made public. Which only piles the pressure on as the hearing looms.

Back up a minute.

We have been told for countless decades that the Monarchs involvement in affairs of state is always at the advice of her government.

The application for and removal of diplomatic immunity is a matter for the government of the day. Not some old dear in a hat.

So are we now learning that - despite being indoctrinated told to the contrary for years - the Queen does act without government advice ?

And if that fiction is to be maintained then which government advised removing diplomatic immunity *when and why^ ??????

I really hope VG doesn't settle/feel pressured to.

Partly because I want to see him face the consequences of his actions, but also because I have been reading so many threads on social media lately, with people trying to victim blame her, and say that she's a gold-digger, and only cares about the money. I fear that these people will use settlement to 'prove' their opinions. I'm sure a few years down the line PA/the RF/some media outlet will also say that the fact she went quiet after a settlement suggests she was only ever after money, especially as PA will continue to deny any wrongdoing.

You're right of course, Jane, and VG dosn't have to accept any settlement, but if she refuses any offer I guess we're down to some claim that he's unfit to stand trial since the idea of him being questioned about this by professional lawyers is unthinkable

@WinnieTheW0rm Previous poster referred to interview on Sky News where a lawyer for 9 victims referenced the Queen removing Andrew's immunity last year.

I also remember one his arguments/defences he was allegedly going to argue last year was that he had immunity due to being a trade envoy at the time. He did for the Country!.
