Prison Dramas, Bands and Ouija Boards - the Excellent Cats audition, sing and plot

Our feline overlords have so many current strings to their joint and several bows.

Auditioning for Series One of The Prison Cat, forming a band, and continuing to plot against their enemies by means of their Ouija Boards - will they even have time to sleep now?

Aw. Well done, Vixen.
You knew who the right person was going to be. Clever girl.

She was an attention seeker, she did it to everyone. One of my favourite memories (and apologies if I have said it before) is when a policeman came round to take a witness statement. Vixen jumped on to his lap and stayed there, demanding scritches while the poor chap was trying to take my statement. I did of course apologise and offer to remove her, but he said he was fine and actually really wanted a cat. I did have to intervene when she climbee into his laptop bag, but I gave him the details of the local rescues that I support so I hope he found his perfect companion(s)

That’s utterly adorable.

I don't know what Herbie's been up to but he came in earlier with black stuff on his white fur.
There's still a faint stripe of dirt down his nose. Probably nosing around where he shouldn't be!

It’s a bit tough on white / tux cats that black marks show so much more. Raven or Frank would get away with it.

Kitty enjoyed the welly inspection.

Goodness, Linney looks awful when he's been in the neighbour's wheelchair house. He gets underneath the chair and gets oil on his fur.

The worst mess any of this lot (past or present) have been in was when Fred decided to climb up the chimney. It took ages for his fur to be clean again!

I am NOT looking for another cat but happened to be on the local Cat protection site earlier. They have 3 Maine coons looking for a new home. They'd prefer them to be adopted together if possible, and I hope that happens. I do love this chap's grumpy little face though.

Maine Coons do seem to have very cross faces. I'll always prefer moggies but they are very funny!

EmpressaurusKitty · 09/11/2025 09:51

Kitty’s helping with the laundry. Edited to add that image checking seems to be slow today.

It will happen at the right time, @RumNotRun.

Kitty is so good @EmpressaurusKitty, always willing to help 😁

Unless the Cat Distribution Service brings me another cat, I will definitely not be adopting another. Now that my ex doesn't come round very much, it's just me looking after the tribe and so over time, I will try to get down to a more normal number of cats, like maybe two or three. Hopefully that will take many years and the current residents all live long and healthy lives of course.

That was what I thought until the first time I caught her running off with a clothespeg & trying to kill it! Laundry help is strictly under supervision nowadays.

It’s not that I grudge them to her, but I am worried about her chewing the plastic. I should see if I can get some cat safe ones.

I'm really sorry about Vixen, Rum.

How lovely that she and the policeman enjoyed each others company. When the police came round after I complained about my neighbour Matilda was most put out that there were strange men in her bedroom and gave them angry cat bum pose from the cat tree.

KeziaOAP · 09/11/2025 17:30

Rum so sorry to hear about Vixen she was such a character.

If there’s one thing missing in yoga at the moment, it’s angry cat bum pose!

Do you have to get the oil out Broon, or does he clean it off himself, or leave it to weather away over time?

Makes me glad I have a black cat and a tabby, though Tobias's white patches would certainly show the dirt.

He sees the vet every month for his Solensia so she cuts the oily bits of fur out.
Poor Linney.
He is such a good boy.
I don't think Gizmo would submit to that without a fight.

Can’t remember but that’s great!

Cat Four is dragging food from the dish out with her paw before eating it, exactly like her mother does. So interesting how cats imprint from their mothers. Cat Four’s mother was a feral who moved into my friend’s house.

@learieonthewildmoor Cat 4 has grown into a beauty. I forget - are they Cat1-4 to protect online identity or do you call them that?
Just have this image of you calling them in!

Brilliant!

Nephew no. 2 is coming back down from Scotland for Christmas. He'll go to Nephew no. 1 & family for Christmas Day along with Annie and no. 4, then those 3 come to me on Boxing Day while no. 1 goes to his in-laws. Annie & no. 4 usually do come to me Boxing Day anyway, & we do party food & Netflix, so the addition of no. 2 will be nice.

Don't think I've seen no. 2 for about 3 years, really miss him. I'll have to miss his wedding next year too, as that will be somewhere up North (either Scotland where he lives, or Northumberland where her family come from) and my back just can't cope with travelling that far (missed no. 3's wedding for the same reason). Will be interesting to see how Tobias reacts to a strange man in the house.

Kitty taught her son that pouncing on feet was a good way to wake sleeping humans.

She didn’t teach him to use the trick sparingly.

That’s a lovely ending for Cat Four & her mum, @learieonthewildmoor!

Allergic, that all sounds really wonderful.

I'm looking forward to Christmas.
I've decided to spend the Co-Op voucher on crisps and chocolate.

I've still got the Chablis which DD gave me for my last birthday.

Is that Kitty's son @EmpressaurusKitty ?
They look like they got on well, which is lovely. If he is her son, I take it you fostered him too?
(Apologies if you have already explained all this in the past!)
