Prison Dramas, Bands and Ouija Boards - the Excellent Cats audition, sing and plot

Our feline overlords have so many current strings to their joint and several bows.

Auditioning for Series One of The Prison Cat, forming a band, and continuing to plot against their enemies by means of their Ouija Boards - will they even have time to sleep now?

@LostCats2 So sorry to hear that. At the risk of being personal- please do not answer if you do not want- is it localised to an area? can they at least give you something like tens to give you relief

Picard is an impressive floof-er. Did he get extra floofy because of the rain?

Yes, he did. He was drenched when he appeared at the window.

Unfortunately I was finally told last week that the drs just don't know what is causing my very severe pain. So they can't treat it. Most likely Long Covid sadly.
So I have to learn to live with this now. Good for Boone as he gets lots of lap time.

Im so sorry, @LostCats2. That’s utterly shit.

LostCats2 · 11/11/2025 18:04

So it's the nerves in both my arms, so basically as they come out of the spine. I've been scanned to within an inch of my life 😆but they can't find anything and it's been so long and slowly getting worse. The pills don't really work anymore so now I'm trying Kefir yogurt (good bacteria has been shown to help - who knew) and walking more. If anything I'll just feel a bit better all round. Although the weight gain is now noticeable. I've been on very strong meds since Jan which I was told cause weight gain, but it didn't seem to be happening until one day I realised it had totally crept up on me!
Boone and I are ruined together. So we have lots of warm sits to make each other feel better.

LostCats2 · 11/11/2025 18:05

Oh my gosh!!! I had forgotten about my Tens! Thank you so much for the reminder! It wasn't working for a while so I stopped using it. I bet it will work now after a break. Thank you so so much!!!!!

RumNotRun · 11/11/2025 18:21

Sorry to hear that @LostCats2but at least you have Boone, and cat purrs are mean to help with healing and pain.

I bought a Lidl white chocolate and coconut pudding earlier as a little treat. I put the pot down as I was responding to a message and then when I went to pick it up again, there was a Toad licking his lips with pudding all round his muzzle.

@LostCats2 I'm so sorry to you're in so much pain. I hope the TENS machine helps.

Have you tried acupuncture?

Ugh I saw my husband driving in the village this afternoon. He had DS2 with him.

It's really, really upset me.

Edited to add that I can't bear seeing him playing happy families like that.

@LostCats2 If Tens ever gave you relief, then if they have not offered there are some other treatments for pain relief including radiofrequency abalation, nerve blocks and periferal nerve stimulators. I hope they are considering all options. Poor you

I found that after not using my TENS for quite a few months due to it not being as effective, it works very well now. So after a break yours should at least help.

Has anyone discussed exercises that could help? I would get into a horrible pain, so tense up, which caused more pain, type cycle. Keeping the muscles around the offending vertebra/vertebrae more relaxed may help a bit. Keep the area warm to relax those muscles too, and IF (it's a big if) you can find a decent physio who will do massage near the area as well as recommending exercises that could make a big difference. They may also have some good suggestions around posture, so much back pain is caused or exacerbated by poor posture.

Meh. If your DS2 is anything like my nephews it's likely as much a duty outing rather than purely for pleasure. Duty on the part of the DS I mean. Annie's sons all do still talk to their father and (very occasionally) see him, they haven't stopped loving him as he IS their father but I don't think any of them respect him, more that they pity him.

I'm sure you're right.
It was just a shock to see the car, and him driving it.
I haven't seen him for eight weeks.
TBH I was genuinely hoping I'd never see him again.

Hugs from me & Kitty, Broon.

Eight weeks is nothing, it’s so raw still. Do you think they saw you?

No, because I was in my friend's car, going in the other direction and it was dark.
I just recognised what used to be my car IYSWIM.

Girlcat is sulking. I've just gone back to work this week with a phased return after having been off for a few weeks. Part of that phased return is working from home a couple of days a week, so I (with Annie's much appreciated help) have sorted out the study so I can set my laptop & spare screen etc up.

This means that instead of my laptop bag lying on the floor next to where I sit at my home PC, it's propped up against the leg of the other desk. Problem with that is, Girlcat's favorite position when I'm on the home PC is lying on that so I can reach down to stroke her now & again. She keeps wandering in, then half sits/half crouches where the laptop bag used to lie, giving a sad little meow then wanders out again. 10 minutes later comes in, same again. And again.

Laptop bag can't go where it used to be as I have to slide my chair side to side from desk to desk right over where it used to lie.

Ah - after 4 attempts at coming in & finding no cat bed laptop bag where it belongs, she's now taken up sitting behind my chair and patting the back every couple of minutes. I'm going to have to go and entertain her in the other room aren't I?

That's about the size of it, Allergic.

Oh she got more than compensated for my cruel behaviour. Lying on the sofa legs akimbo, her head by the arm. Me giving her belly rubs, then Tobias came & laid on the arm of the chair grooming her neck, head and ears.

So Girlcat did extremely well out of it in the end.

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne I'm just catching up on old threads and learned about your personal news.

I'm so sorry. It's awful.

LostCats2 · 12/11/2025 12:31

@Breadcat24 @Allergictoironing and @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne Thank you so much for the recommendations. I'm definitely going to try and get some acupuncture. Had a particularly bad session earlier. Actually cried from it (haven't been able to for ages). The relief of being actually able to cry has made me feel so much better. And I will definitely look into what you have recommended Bread and Allergic. I don't go on chatboards about pain as I feel they can get a bit miserable and I need to stay positive or it will end me so am grateful for your advice as no one else has any clue what to do.

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne I am so very very sorry. That must have been absolutely awful!
Looking for the positives - at least you got the cats! Although Gizmo... hey, you could always send him on a mission to create some havoc in ex-H's new house...?
