Our feline overlords have so many current strings to their joint and several bows.

Auditioning for Series One of The Prison Cat, forming a band, and continuing to plot against their enemies by means of their Ouija Boards - will they even have time to sleep now?

I've brought the ladder into the sitting room, where it is now in my way.

Linney just jumps over it.

Finlay is snug in his house tonight - just put his Xmas tree up - the main one is going up tomorrow - will be interesting to see what he makes of it as we’ve got a new bigger tree than previous years

Our catflap story is not much of a role model tbh.

Coaxing, treats, and catnip spray all failed. I got Snowcat to the point of understanding she could use it by putting her outside repeatedly. She worked out fast to go to the catflap but for ages stood at the flat miaowing and shaking while I prodded at it and reassured her and eventually she would go through with some help from me. She then finally twigged that she can do it by herself. She hasn’t gone out though so it is only used as an emergency entrance when we are “training” her.

Stripey went through the catflap once when no one was around and didn’t know how to get back so was found shortly afterwards crying under the patio table.

Since Snowcat worked it out, the weather has been so bad that the cats don’t have much desire to go out anyway. So we may have to try again in the spring.

I can’t believe I was worried about these cats roaming off and getting into trouble. They are the most homebody cats I have ever met.

Snowcat is learning to read music so she can try different tunes for her night miaowing

She'll be miaowing endlessly on the note A if she learns that page.

The book alternates pitch lessons and rhythm lessons (on A) and she fancied a refresher on crotchets and minims. To be honest her rhythms are a bit monotonous so she could do with shaking it up a bit.

Linney put one tentative paw on the cat ladder. He then retreated in dismay.

I have invested in some catnip spray.

I have nearly tripped over the ladder myself twice so far.

It is not being a success. Yet.

Snowcat will presumably shortly give up and take five...

She did and we tried the orange trick to turn her into a fried egg, but it didn’t work and she just looked really disappointed in us.

Lenny came in this morning from his prebreakfast ministrations with this stuck to his claw. 🙀

I feel compelled to state that DH made this lasagne and I would have got it browner on the top before serving, but it was nice anyway.

I could place anything on top of Herbie right now and he wouldn't react! Lazy article.
(We wouldn't achieve the fried egg effect anyway as he hasn't got the right colouring!)

I have put my Christmas tree up. I don't normally bother but thought I'd make an effort this year, plus I bought some baubles when I was away. Fred keeps approaching the tree and sniffing it. It's only a slimline fake one so I'm really hoping his curiosity is limited to sniffing and the one paw touch he did earlier.

Haha no! He had a taste of plain beef mince the day before though, when I was making the bolognese sauce that was first eaten on pasta and then made into said lasagne. So not entirely short changed.

Linney was good enough to bring me a dead bird for my breakfast.
I managed to get him to drop it on the doormat before letting him back in.

So now the remains are sitting there, waiting until I get round to taking out the bins.

I have to say that I miss my husband from that point of view. He was good at doing the bins. And picking up and disposing of dead wildlife.
