Help me name these little squishes

All being well, these little cuties will be coming to live with us in 3 weeks. The tabby is a girl, who my eldest wants to call Mildred (she’s a big fan of the Worst Witch). The black and white is a boy, and we must rescue him from the fate of being named Loveheart Glitter by the youngest. Any suggestions that I can put to her as alternatives?

Also open to names other than Mildred, although I’m quite taken with it!

George. But probably everyone is too young to recognise why.

Whatareyoutalkingaboutnow · 11/08/2025 16:48

Well the boy just has to be George!

GoodVibesHere · 11/08/2025 16:49

Sid

YodasHairyButt · 11/08/2025 16:50

Absolutely George!!!

BusyFrizzyLizzie · 11/08/2025 16:50

The eldest has suggested Arthur - which I was slightly surprised by. Thoughts on that combo? And then suggestions on how to sell Arthur to a princess-obsessed 3 year old?

I’d call them Truffle and Churro

BusyFrizzyLizzie · 11/08/2025 16:51

I'm afraid I am too young to have any first hand knowledge of Mildred and George. It's not one of the racist or sexist 70s sitcoms, is it? In my experience you can never be too careful with 70s TV.

Well, if you stick with the theme of witches in children’s books, Winnie the Witch’s cat is called Wilbur. Or Meg’s cat is called Mog, of course. I think Mildred’s cat was just called Tabby? Which doesn’t make sense for this young chap (and people will wonder why you didn’t call the tabby one Tabby!)

Very cute. Watch the white tips of the boy’s ears, he’ll need suncream in summer.

EmuFace · 11/08/2025 16:53

Please call him Loveheart Glitter!

Indeed, it should be Tabby, but I suggested Mildred to avoid being too basic 😂. Ditto, Mog. I do like Wilbur though. And thanks for the suncream tip. Never had a white-ish cat before.

Loveheart Glitter.

It is only fair they both get to name one - and it is really sweet and will be funny in 10 years time.

Newfluff · 11/08/2025 16:57

Especially when they call out his name at the vets .

PrincessofHyrule · 11/08/2025 16:59

Another vote for love heart glitter 💖

Iheartmysmart · 11/08/2025 17:00

You have to stick with Loveheart Glitter! We foolishly allowed DS to name our two cats when he was obsessed with Dr Who. Try calling out Sycorax and Cyberman in the garden 😆

nomorenomoreme · 11/08/2025 17:01

would she consider Braveheart instead of Loveheart? Braveheart Glitter has a great ring to it!
Otherwise just let her call him Loveheart. He can be Lovey for short.

King Arthur! Although Loveheart Glitter is adorable.

I'm feeling very ganged up on here 😂. But it is looking like it's going to be Mildred and Loveheart Glitter. Poor boy. I hope he grows up big and strong. He's going to need to be!

Loveheart Glitter!! Yes!

Another vote for Loveheart glitter! Sorry OP Grin

Your reply genuinely made me smile.

Yay for Mildred and Loveheart Glitter.

Needlenardlenoo · 11/08/2025 17:18

I'd have called the boy Tri short for Triangle. His face is made of them. Adorable!!

UpMyself · 11/08/2025 17:18

George and Mildred

Chemenger · 11/08/2025 17:29

One of my foster kittens, a boy, was going to be called Sparkles, so Loveheart Glitter will be in good company. I can’t remember what Sparkles’ brother was going to be called, something quite mundane, I think. Mind you I had named them Charlie and Lola because the vet thought they were a boy and a girl. It turned out that he was more like Lola from the Kinks song than Lola from the children’s books.
