Picking up our cat that's been 'missing' for years

Well not missing exactly but we lived at our old address and as our cat got older and we had kids and 2 dogs our cat spent more and more time with our elderly neighbour. We would try and coax him home but he always went back.

The neighbour loved him and spoilt him rotton.

2 years ago we moved house and we tried to catch him a few times to bring him with us but he evaded us. So we went to the neighbours house to ask him to catch him for us. The elderly neighbour said he would like him to stay (his wife and dog had passed away) as he was good company

So over time we check in on him, make sure he doesn't need vet care etc.
Neighbour has our number.

We just stopped by to check in and he asked if we could take him.

Of course!

But I'm worried as he's not seen our dogs in years. He's never been to this home and we have somehow adopted a stray cat here who treats it like his home and is basically out unplanned cat too now.

We are picking him up in an hour and I'm just a bit stressed at how to navigate this!!

We never planned to be apart from him but he chose the neighbour over us and at that time the neighbour really needed him.

Any advice please!

So sorry, I hope you managed some sleep last night.
Be kind to yourself and each other, you have been through the wringer with looking after that lovely boy Vader, and now he is now at peace. No more seizures, no more distress, just peace.💐
May I ask, will you be bringing his remains home?

Thankyou

I didnsleep better but woke this morning to cat meowing outside that sounded like him and I was very confused for a moment.

We were told that for cremations the only puck up once a week and we just missed the collection so he would have to go in storage for a week. We really didn't like that so we brought him home with us. We took his collar and did some paw prints.

We buried him in the garden and today we are making a little memorial area for him with stones and a rose bush.

That sounds perfect @KiffyKiffyKiffy , I hope working on Vader's memorial helps you all, and makes it somewhere special to remember him by 💐

Lovely to have a memorial at home for him.

That is so lovely, especially the little cat, plus the beautiful rose. Did you all take part in its creation? I hope it helps bring closure to you all💐

Oh Jeez. So happy when I started reading your thread. Now I am in tears!

I had to smile though while reading about the fleas - instantly on the right hand side of the screen a flea treatment for cats and dogs popped up!

Our first puss was a torti girl. Loved by everyone and she lived until we had to put her down at 21 when all her organs failed.

The bit where you bathed him reminded me of our little black girl who was a stray I rescued. She had a big bald patch on her leg (I think an infected dog bite.). We had to wash her with a special shampoo. My brother and I had that task. Her paws stuck out like a cartoon frozen cat!

All in all we had three cats and I really miss them all.
