Mine died last year age 18. She was a real naughty tortie. Fiesty, a great hunter, Alpha cat, numerous fights, saw off much bigger cats and foxes. She was a witch at the vets where there were other animals.

she was also the sweetest, most affectionate little thing ever.

i miss her. Lots.

She sounds amazing. So sorry you lost her but I bet you gave her the best life ❤️

I've only ever had tortie cats from the one I grew up with, 2 in my twenties (through to 40s) and now I have 3 of the little darlings. They are very pretty but also can be also very neurotic! I love their characters.

My current cats all have very different personalities (with the thread of tortoiseshell-ness running through them all). They've lovely, I wouldn't have another kind of cat.

@minerva7 one of my cats looks just like yours - I always thought she was a tortoiseshell and white cat.

I did too Helen although I had heard Calico used. But it seems they are both right!

Here is ours, she is 15, absolutely tiny and still very playful, but affectionate on her terms only. She will happily sit on the 15yo human’s lap for hours while he watches tv, no way anyone else would get that treatment. They’re twins, I think.

Awwww I love her 😍

Our Tortie is very sweet. Has never once swiped at anyone. She's a bit timid and startles easily. She loves to be fussed and petted and gets so relaxed that she drools on your lap! Not the brightest cat I've ever known, but a sweetheart and we all love her.

Mine drools too! 🤣

Our tortie is just wonderful, she adores my daughter but will come to me for cuddles if she isn’t around. She loves playing with water oddly!!

Madmoo mine only drinks water off her paws... so she stands in her drinking water then licks it off.
Wee weirdos 😂

My tortie is the sweetest cat ever she likes belly rubs and cuddles but also is a lunatic at playtime compared with my Tabby!

Ours is a Jekyll and Hyde character - only happy if she's got a lap to sit on, wants to be with you all the time but the will randomly attack and bite really quite hard. Still adorable!

My two twin girls. 18mths old. Maine coon x British short hair. They are adorable, very entertaining and really quite different personalities. One is cuddly the other more aloof but getting more friendly. They are very clever and very curious. My partner is a dog person but has been won over by them and spoils them rotten! They are indoor cats but go in the garden supervised (don't want to risk them being stolen) but we walk them on harnesses and very long leads - this great big man walking a cat is a sight to behold! I've always had cats and these two are a delight. They sleep together and play wonderfully. Enjoy your tortie!

Here's my spare part cat - she's very gentle and sweet, until she sees our boy cats and she gets her murder mits on!

Oh, mine are very vocal and one makes a chirping sound. They beg for treats and sit to command. One loves finding places to hide and the other sleeps in the bath often. They go to the front door when they hear my partners car pull up to greet him. They love cat tv on YouTube. Both love being held like babies and their bellies stroked like dogs.

Bjorkdidit · 27/01/2025 05:35

I've just remembered a friend had one who used to hit people on the legs if she didn't like how they walked past her.

When friend started seeing a new DP he was one of those men who wore shorts a lot and I think he was a bit frightened of the cat, who drew blood more than once.

But the cat also did it to me while I had long boots on under jeans and she got a bit of a surprise about how it felt for her and I seemed to be safe after that.

tortietimestwo · 27/01/2025 05:41

I have two! There's no evidence that coat pattern influences cat behaviour, and yet both of mine are sassy little madams. The one with big eyes runs everywhere (including under my feet, causing us to fall down the stairs more than once), and little one with the pointy face is very stubborn and hates to be picked up, but she loves nuzzling your hand and having some pets.

They get up to all sorts of mischief and I couldn't imagine my life without them. Get one! Do it. They're the best coat pattern and just so beautiful.

I have two torties. Vixen who loves everybody but will bite or use her claws if you disturb her sleep or don't give sufficient attention. Ghostie is a dilute tortie who is more aloof with strangers than Vix is, but once she decides you're ok then she also becomes v demanding of sufficient amounts of attention.

They both grab at you if you dare walk past without showing the right amount of adoration.

This is Vixen.

Mine is absolutely angelic, not a naughty tortie at all! Very affectionate and placid. My tuxedo cat however is naughty x

Theresacatinmykitchenwhatamigonnado · 27/01/2025 06:52

I had a naughty tortie, lived to 18 and so missed. She was very dainty but with an enormous personality. Same as a pp, she liked to sit on top of doors then leap off at you unexpectedly. She was loud, fast, loved a cuddle and would then randomly bite you. She liked to share our food, particularly chocolate mousse. I'd put wildlife programmes on for her and she'd be transfixed. My gorgeous, grumpy girl.

TheCatsAreHungry · 27/01/2025 07:04

This is Nutty, my Maine Coon tortie. She's extremely friendly, not very bright though. She is shockingly greedy, and is the largest MC I've had. She weighs 9 kg currently 🫠

I have 2 wonderful torties. One is incredibly affectionate and SO intelligent, she is my absolute beautiful darling. She is honestly like a human in cat form.

The other one does not give a single fuck but is incredibly beautiful!

Usernamesarenoteasy · 27/01/2025 07:56

This is my tortie. The tortitude is real.
My youngest is her 'person' and always has been since we got her.
She is very almost 16.
I am not allowed to touch her, she'll slink down to the ground and run away if I try.
But she loves to sleep on my bed, when I'm not in it obviously.
She also insists on running straight behind my car when I'm parking on the drive. No matter how many times I move her she runs straight back as soon as I start moving again, so all I can do is put her in the car with me every time I park....

Edited to add, there is not a single day that goes by when she doesn't try to trip me up going down the stairs. Not one.
