WTAF? He lives next door, on very good terms with neighbours but he seems confused about where home is! I don't feed him but diner him as he was cold. Now fast asleep. I'm a dog person is this a cat thing?

It's quite clear that he thinks otherwise. He has decided you're his human slave and that's his sofa.

SilverBlueRabbit · 27/12/2024 19:43

TBH I'm not sure why you are insisting it's your sofa.

Give him some turkey

So is your cat. You have a new cat

Yes it is a cat thing, my cat often comes in smelling of woodburner with lipstick marks on her head.

Our cat comes home smelling of another woman’s perfume. NDN has also found him curled up asleep on her bed with her own elderly cat. Definitely a cat thing.

Do they have Christmas visitors so he’s temporarily sought out a quiet place to nap?

OhBling · 27/12/2024 23:10

he is astonishingly cute though.

My spare bed.
Not my cat.

Is that you, Pat?

One of mine moved in with my neighbour after I got a couple of kittens. I still see my former cat from time to time, and he's very chatty and cuddly - unless he sees one of the now-grown kittens when he turns into a growling ball of fury.

CaveMum · 31/12/2024 21:45

Just because, thought I’d share a pic of BIL & SIL’s new kittens who we met the other day. They’re about 12 weeks old now and impossibly cute 😍 DD (10) was most upset we didn’t smuggle them home 🤣

Oh they’re lovely.
I actually had a dream last night that I was given 5 kittens. A friend from work had ordered them for me online. I was a bit taken aback but on board with the idea and then I woke up.
I already have 2 cats. Each one the remaining cat of a pair - their respective brothers having been hit by cars. I will not be getting another while we live on this road. It’s a great sadness.

Hiyawotcha · 01/01/2025 20:57

I just love cats soooo much. My younger one actually gets into bed with us and the older one is a crazy and psychopathic rodent killer but so friendly.

He may not be your cat, but I'm afraid you are now his human!

We had an unfaithful cat. He regularly
moved in with other 'staff'.

Some highlights of his CF-ery:

Coming home one day wearing a collar proclaiming a new name.

Following someone home from the pub and living with them for 3 weeks.

Moving in with people down the road, resulting in a tug of love when he got hit and injured by a motorbike. After I paid the hefty vet bill, he came home with me and never set foot in their house again strangely.

Whilst searching for him during ones of his many disappearances I discovered he was spending his days on a special chair in a local car showroom, being fed the most expensive cat food and generally being treated as king of the showroom...

CountTo10 · 02/01/2025 14:48

Oh I have the. Beautifully cared for with a lovely glittery collar. I keep waking up with him fast asleep on top of me. I am not feeding him but I already have a cat so he pinches his food. I sleep with the bedroom window open so he comes and goes at will and I also have a cat flap. Tried blocking the cat flap at night but he just comes in through the window.

He has the cheek to miaow at me in a bad tempered tone if he's displeased with something. My cat isn't overly keen but they do tolerate each other and have often woke up to find them both asleep in my bed! 🤷‍♀️

StarDolphins · 02/01/2025 14:55

I’m thinking of getting a cat flap just for this purpose!🤣 I love cats🐈‍⬛

ElaborateCushion · 02/01/2025 15:59

A friend of mine (who, incidentally, is very allergic to cats) woke up the other day and thought "those bloody neighbour's cats are outside again, chatting to each other" as they often did. Only for her to roll over, open her eyes and come face to face with one of the neighbour's cats who had clearly been sleeping there for a while, then miaowed when she inadvertently woke him up! Seems he'd snuck in while her DH was loading up his car for work and got locked in the house. The cat then obviously wandered around, looking for the cosiest looking sleeping spot and chose the bed with her.

All animals seem to absolutely love her, despite the fact that she is so allergic to almost all of them!

He's really was. He once gave our neighbours a shock when they arrived at the local garden centre, only to find him happily accompanying them, stretched out in the back seat of their car.
