My friend’s semi-feral cat had kittens.
Cat Three would love a little brother, and hopefully Cat One and Two would not be more annoyed than they already are by Cat Three.

DH needed a lot of persuading that Four Cats is not too many. He needed less persuading after seeing that Cat Four To Be is fat and fluffy.

Four is a very good number of cats 🐈

Heronatemygoldfish · 14/10/2024 16:12

I want a Cat four but don't dare ask. And for the same reason as @learieonthewildmoor. Cats one and two hate Cat three, who is very much a giant insane kitten. They are both in their teens (human years) so can't cope. Cat three would love a Cat four to play with. Trouble is, I suspect Cat one is not well and I don't want to add to her woes. (Vet visit imminent)

😻😻

CatChant · 14/10/2024 16:34

Cat Four-To-Be is wondrously fluffy. And I agree four is a very good number of cats.

'Four is a very good number of cats'
On t-shirts and tote bags immediately please.
And Cat Four is gorgeous.

LostCats · 15/10/2024 11:30

Ahaha YEY!! I was hoping it was you @learieonthewildmoor !!
Cat Three is going to be so happy!!

learieonthewildmoor · 15/10/2024 11:34

We are going to need another chair, though. But Cat Three is definitely going to be happy.

Cats Three and Four can always snuggle together at first. Especially as Cat Four will be teeny.

learieonthewildmoor · 15/10/2024 11:37

Heronatemygoldfish: I wanted to get a Cat Four before Cat One got to that stage. Fingers crossed for your Cat One.

Thank you @learieonthewildmoor. Cat One is back from vet now and they think it's nothing major though she's back on a diet! (She, rather like me, is a bit too round...)😹

Cailleach1 · 16/10/2024 16:51

Thing is, no matter how pleasantly plump they (the little furry beasts) become, their splendid coats always fit beautifully. Life’s not fair, is it?

TheLongRider · 16/10/2024 16:59

A word of caution - our Cat 4 was initially not liked by Cat 3. Cat 3 was a lovely boy who pestered our old cats to play with him. When we acquired Cat 4 as an abandoned 8 week old kitten, Cat 3 was an absolute diva for about a week. Cat 3 huffed around the house, growling at the kitten (who just flopped to show his tummy) and yelling at us that we had fucked up his life! After a week he was washing and playing with the kitten and they are still best friends many years later.

So even though you think Cat 3 will like Cat 4 - there may be a period of adjustment.

macshoto · 16/10/2024 17:06

Four is a fine number of cats. Though we started with five (mum and four kittens) and seem to be heading in the direction of fewer.

Sadly we lost one to the road, seem to be losing another to a neighbour (she only appears home every 2-3 days) and a third seems to be struggling with an FIV related infection (all were FIV+ when we gave them a home).

Cat 4 (kitten photo above) looks very desirable!!

learieonthewildmoor · 17/10/2024 02:53

Cat Three is, how shall I put it, a very simple cat who has three emotions : pleasure, joy and confusion. He has never hissed at or scratched the two other cats. He obviously came from a multi cat environment. He has worked out that Cat Two is the boss and follows her everywhere, except when it’s chair time.
When the kitten arrives, he will go through a period of confusion, and may look to Cat Two for how to behave.

Cat four is a beauty. But your cat three will always be my favourite, with his sweet optimistic face and complete delight at moving in with you all. Looking forward to updates when kitten arrives!

Cailleach1 · 17/10/2024 10:29

Beautiful kitty. I’m laughing at your needing a new chair comment. Are the toy cars placed strategically beside the two elders in order to discourage visits by number 3 cat? If not you could place another two cushions alongside for the two whippersnappers during ‘le petit dodo’. A window dormitory.

’Chair time’ seems to work very well with cat 3 being respectful of his sleeping seniors. Kitty will be an interesting addition to the mix.

OccasionalHope · 17/10/2024 12:08

Cat 4 is adorable.

Igmum · 17/10/2024 12:21

Awww 🥰 just love cat 4 😻 (and cats 1, 2 and 3 obvs)

MoonWoman69 · 17/10/2024 12:31

I've only ever been a one cat person... Until Spooky came along and ended up getting pregnant in her first season. I knew when I played midwife, that we'd be keeping the kittens... Husband said they'd be being rehomed or if not, off to a shelter. After one particularly horrible argument regarding it, I told him the only thing being rehomed round here would be him... He kind of came round to my way of thinking after that!
He's spent 100s on getting them neutered, chipped and vaccinated and now I hear him chatting with them upstairs. He admits now, it's not as bad as he thought having 3 cats around. I knew my determination and his inability to overlook cuteness would win eventually... Just hang in there cat momma!!! 😁

Ellmau · 17/10/2024 20:56

Cat Four is so tiny, round and fluffy. I'm not surprised neither you nor your DH could resist.

learieonthewildmoor · 31/10/2024 12:12

Cat Four is coming tomorrow. Because his mother is feral, the kittens haven’t been handled much and they really need socialising before 12 weeks of age.
He is very hissy on seeing you come near and on being picked up (mum’s behaviour) but is completely relaxed once in your lap. I’ve been brushing him, giving him chicken and scritches under the chin.
I am dying to introduce Cat Three to him.
