Enter Cat Four

My friend’s semi-feral cat had kittens.
Cat Three would love a little brother, and hopefully Cat One and Two would not be more annoyed than they already are by Cat Three.

DH needed a lot of persuading that Four Cats is not too many. He needed less persuading after seeing that Cat Four To Be is fat and fluffy.

May the power of chicken command him! He'll be eating out your hand and purring in no time.

I love that picture showing cats 1 and 2 sleeping in the window with their round rumps synchronised. 😻

I love all your cats, especially the way they are sticking to their beds and not climbing on top of each other. Cat Four looks like an excellent addition to the family.

We used to have four, sadly now down to one. Cat one left home for two years after Cat Two arrived and had kittens (adopted a stray and thought she was just putting on weight). Happily he returned once the kittens were reduced from four to two (two went to a friend) and grew into semi-sensible adults. So I believe the beginning may be rocky, but it will all work out in the end 🐈‍⬛

Hope kitten-arrival day goes well. He’s the sweetest little thing.
And also hope cat three loves him, and cats one and two aren’t too put out…

He’s not coming til Tuesday now. I’m ridiculously disappointed.
We’ve set up his lying-in room and it’s been given the tick of approval by all the cats.

Zinner: my dh is meticulous/fussy/anal, and did not approve when I moved the cars to make way for Cat Three’s cushion. We are going to add another chair. Taking bets that none of them will use it.

Ah shame! Cats 1-3 can be making sure the room is fully tested and DH positioning the chairs to his liking in the meantime 😁

Cat Four has arrived and Cat Three is already being very calm and good with him. Cat One not so much.
Four is in his room upstairs. Tomorrow is going to be super hot, so my plan to keep him in his room for 3 or 4 days is foiled. He’ll be in a playpen in the bedroom with the air conditioning tomorrow.

The scales have a room temperature measure: very handy. He looks absolutely tiny.

Oh all that fluffs.

He’s absolutely beautiful, is he still hissy? So pleased Cat Three seems to be happy to be moving up the number order!

Oh, super cute and so tiny. Glad Cat Three is happy.

I am having to sleep in the room with him. He has just curled up on the mattress and is dropping off to sleep. Lots of meowing - stressed to be away from mum and his brothers.
He was perched up on the scratching post, nodding off.

Have set up the playpen in the bedroom. My back was starting to hurt.
DH extremely happy. He’s getting up for work at 6.30.
Four now sleeping peacefully after a bit more squawking.

Woke up at 6.00 yelling. Refused to eat at first but then decided it was a good idea. He likes the bedroom much better than the kitten room. Has stopped hissing at me and yells if I leave the room.

Is going to sleep now.

He is irresistible! The picture of him perched in the weighing scales is ridiculously cute.

He’s very confused about moving house and now doesn’t want to be left alone.
The playpen has the sweet smell of my friend’s house and he immediately calmed down once I put him in there. We’re downstairs today and he’s coping really well. Cat Three likes him already and he likes Cat Three. All the introduction rules out the window.

Cat Three is being a terrific big brother. He comes into the kitten room when Four yells and doesn’t even eat the food. This is unprecedented: his nickname is Buffet Boy. Every morning he can barely contain his joy there are three dishes of food put out. Three! He still goes to every dish after two years. Seeing him deliberately not eating the kitten food is impressive.
We don’t have a cat gate at the moment so we’re using the play pen as a barrier. Here is Cat Three gracefully jumping over it and then not knowing how to get out. I put the stool in to help him, but it required a manual lift, which he still doesn’t like.
After realising Four had done a poo, he gave Four’s bottom a big wash.

I’m going to post a few more photos of Cat Four because he is ridiculously adorable and a brave explorer. Jumping not yet an accomplished skill.

He’s gorgeous. I’m so glad he has a friend and protector in Cat 3!

Funnily enough, his mother is having a visit to the vet, so his two brothers are going to come for a sleepover.
