New thread for the inmates of Toddler Towers. Strange to think, it's about two completely different cats, from the original
Thread. But Magic, Maia and Cheddar will never be forgotten.

I wanted a sign, to show me what I should do. I let Dotty out for a run round the garden and Penelope was a completely different cat. 😰

Oh my, that is telling! Glad Lady P has had her surgery, here's hoping for a smooth recovery and she takes to the eye drops because she realises she feels better afterwards (actually happened to a friend with her cat who had glaucoma, after protesting for the first few drops, he mellowed and although did put up a protesting paw, did tolerate the drops from then on!)
Hope Dottie finds a loving playful home too, she is a little sweetheart, so sad it didn't work out but she has had the experience of a home life and learned how to play, which is amazing!

Toddlerteaplease · 14/11/2024 02:52

The late Maia, stopped running off when I gave her heart medication. Either because she decided it wasn't worth it. Or because she realised they made her feel better. Not that she was actually unwell at all with it. I've heard of asthmatic cats seeking out their inhalers.

The swelling is coming out now. She looks super evil. 😂😂😂

Hope she gets better soon!

Toddlerteaplease · 14/11/2024 14:32

She's feeling very sorry for herself today. But that's understandable. Someone whose cat has also had the same surgery said it made a huge difference to her cat. So that's reassuring. Dotty has just sat on my knee for the first time ever.😰

Oh I hope after the surgery Pen starts to calm down and Dotty also calms down to so you can keep her

Toddlerteaplease · 14/11/2024 16:48

I do t think it's going to make a difference with Dotty. She's much calmer than she was. Penelope is still very nervous of her. She hasn't slept on my bed in ages. She won't go upstairs at all. Similar to what we had with Pads, only she wouldn't come downstairs.

I feel really torn on waiting a bit longer, or letting her go now. Penelope is definitely much happier without Dotty around. Shes had no reoccurrence of the ulcer since last week and her eyes have been comfortable with the new drops. It's not fair on Dotty to have her cooped up for long periods. She deserves better. She's such a lovely girl, who's absolutely blossoming. If I wait longer I'll be more attached to her and it will be more painful.

I've installed the litter tray and food in the living room for Penelope and given Dotty the run of the restaurant of the house. So Dotty isn't as confined. Not ideal at all.

It’s such a shame - Pen loved Cheddar. But I guess it was that Cheddar was so chill and gentle.

Toddlerteaplease · 15/11/2024 11:15

Yep. They were such a double act.

Toddlerteaplease · 15/11/2024 11:26

Cheddar cheese as a lot older though. Although she was having a second kitttenhood.

OP posts:
Toddlerteaplease · 15/11/2024 11:56

That was supposed to say cheddar was. Not Cheddar cheese. Although she really was a cheese.

JoanOgden · 15/11/2024 12:14

I suppose that Cheddar was there first. So it wasn't a case of another cat entering Pen's territory.

I'm so sorry it hasn't worked out.

Toddlerteaplease · 15/11/2024 12:45

Yes. I suspect that Paddington being a boy had little to do with it. Pen is very possessive of me. I don't think she wants to share me.

I agree with a PP saying that cos Cheddar was an existing cat, Pen had to put up or shut up basically. Now she’s queen bee and it’s her rules!

Toddlerteaplease · 15/11/2024 17:21

The rescue have posted to Say she needs a new home. I'm happy to hang on to her until she gets a match. As I don't want her going back into a cage.

Probably right. She really is a queen bee.

Dotty has just gone for Penelope and caught her stitches. Off to the vet hospital.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 15/11/2024 21:45

Oh no, I hope you and Pen are ok

Floralnomad · 15/11/2024 22:27

Sad as it is if they will take dotty back now that will be better for Pens recovery , she shouldn’t take long to find a new home xx

Toddlerteaplease · 15/11/2024 23:36

Fortunately no major damage done. But needs some stiches. She's having it done tonight. And I'll collect her in the morning as it's in another city. I said I could bring Dotty back over the weekend, but they've not said what date suits them. I'm very surprised that Dotty behaved like she did. She's only jumped on Pen, if she's walked past her. Never had a completely unprovoked attack. Pen was on the windowsill, looking smug. Dotty was a good distance away.

Ellmau · 16/11/2024 09:45

Oh, poor, poor Pen.

Toddlerteaplease · 16/11/2024 09:51

Still radio silence from the rescue, although I said I'd bring her this weekend.

Have you heard how Pen is this morning ?
