New thread for the inmates of Toddler Towers. Strange to think, it's about two completely different cats, from the original
Thread. But Magic, Maia and Cheddar will never be forgotten.

It could because Dotty spotted that she was vulnerable. Particularly when she was on the gabapentin. As it was fine before that. But now Pen is constipated, and limiting her exploration of the house. She's not slept on my bed for a week, despite being separated overnight.

The rescue finally replied and said to keep
Them
Separate when I'm
Not there. Which I'm already doing and wear Dotty out with toys. Like I've not thought of that.

Toddlerteaplease · 12/11/2024 20:06

Dotty deserves better than spending long periods shut in my spare room.

Soubriquet · 12/11/2024 20:16

They really do sound like a shit rescue. Sorry OP. Poor Dotty and poor Pen

Toddlerteaplease · 12/11/2024 21:11

They because they'll take her back. Bit I don't think they believe the issues we are having. As they thought Dotty is a lazy lump. She's absolutely not that. She adores playing and chasing things

Pudmyboy · 12/11/2024 21:22

Oh Toddler you really have tried! And you have shown Dotty what life can be like and she has learned how to play and explore, true gifts to that little lady!
We will look forward to hearing about Lady Penelope being relaxed and happily sleeping on your bed in the near future 😻

Toddlerteaplease · 12/11/2024 21:37

In gutted, I really thought this would work. It was going well. I don't understand why Penelope is such a target.

Before you decide on anything when is Pen having her operation and how long is recovery time?

Toddlerteaplease · 12/11/2024 22:28

Tomorrow, the vet says she'd be fine to go to the cattery at the beginning of December.

OP posts:
Pixiedust1234 · 12/11/2024 22:55

Then I would wait to see how Pen is once she is no longer in pain and can see properly. Do the usual of running interference so Dottie doesn't notice Pen, keep Dottie exhausted and boost Pens confidence etc etc in the meantime. Just to extend that separation whilst she heals fully can they be in separate pens at cattery but next to each other for smells/sight?

Good luck for tomorrow Penelope! ❤

Toddlerteaplease · 13/11/2024 09:57

Dropped Pen at the vets. Apparently she'll look awful post op.

It’ll only get better for Penelope after the eye operation (and recovery). She has probably been quite low anyway, because of her eye issue. It is difficult to think of everything, altogether and at once. If Penelope has to be kept quietly for a while after the op, then would it be possible to reintroduce again when she is more fighting fit?

Dotty is looking very well.

Breadcat24 · 13/11/2024 12:14

Good luck on Pen's op
Can you keep hold of Dottie (separated) until Pen is better.
Or is there someone who could take her rather than going back to that awful rescue?

Soubriquet · 13/11/2024 14:30

Good luck Pen Pen.

Toddlerteaplease · 13/11/2024 15:59

@Breadcat24 the only place o can put Dotty is the spare room. Which is ok. But quite small. And it's not fair to keep her cooped up all the time in there. I don't think this surgery will make a huge difference to relations to be honest. But who knows miracles can happen.

OP posts:
Toddlerteaplease · 13/11/2024 16:00

Apparently it's gone well. Just at the vet waiting to collect her.

OP posts:
Breadcat24 · 13/11/2024 17:23

good luck

2 lots of eye drops 4 times a day. Err ok
Then.

OP posts:
PinkSparklyPussyCat · 13/11/2024 18:25

Good luck with that!

Toddlerteaplease · 13/11/2024 20:55

The Rescue are adamant that Dotty doesn't play. Errr yes she does. She loves balls.

OP posts:
Soubriquet · 13/11/2024 22:04

Take a video of her playing and send it in.

Toddlerteaplease · 13/11/2024 22:07

I've taken two!

OP posts:
Toddlerteaplease · 13/11/2024 22:09

I wanted a sign, to show me what I should do. I let Dotty out for a run round the garden and Penelope was a completely different cat. 😰

OP posts:
nettie434 · 13/11/2024 22:51

That's good news about Penelope's operation. I don't envy you having to administer all those eye drops though!

I'm so sorry about the complications between Dotty and Pen. I seem to remember that both of them were kept in cages when they were with the breeder. If so, it must be harder for them to negotiate boundaries and routines about who goes where & when. I remember that brilliant TV programme in which they tracked lots of cats in a village and found that they had lots of 'rules' about who would go where and when. Sorry if this is complete rubbish - just ignore it. I'm just wanted to say that I'm so sorry it's been so hard juggling their individual needs.
