New thread for the inmates of Toddler Towers. Strange to think, it's about two completely different cats, from the original
Thread. But Magic, Maia and Cheddar will never be forgotten.

More Dotty Spam. I think it'll be fine. Had them on wash side of me earlier. A bit of hissing from Pen. But nothing more. She's happy to be in the same room.

Aww, she's so pretty! I'm sure everything will be fine, both girls have been through the mill but they'll be fine now.

Lots of love and a happy home, what else do they need!

Oh this bodes well. So much calmer than with Pads

Ellmau · 23/10/2024 22:22

She's a sweet little thing. I hope she and Pen can be friends.

Toddlerteaplease · 23/10/2024 22:41

I hope so. Pen hasn't seen her for a few days, as the cat sitter didn't let her out of the room. She occasionally hisses or growls a little, but nothing like with Pads. Dotty seems a bit nervous if her. The rescue told me she was easily bullied.

Scampuss · 23/10/2024 22:44

Aww, she's very sweet.

Quite shocked at the condition she was kept in at the rescue, is this the place your other girls have come from?

Anniegetyourgun · 23/10/2024 22:53

I understand; you had to do it.

Dottie has the most gorgeous eyes, like golden syrup. I think she could maybe have a "posh" name, but still be Dottie for everyday usage.

Toddlerteaplease · 24/10/2024 07:18

@Scampuss pads was there for a while. But he had a loving home before that. Penelope came direct from her owner, but having seen a photo of the house, I can't imagine it was much better. Not surprisingly Dotty has been quite overwhelmed by an entire house!

I went in completely hard hearted, that of she wasn't going to be right for Pen, then I wouldn't do it. But I knew within about 2 minutes it would be ok.
The rescue asked for her blanket back as they'd given it to her by mistake. I did consider holding it hostage until I get her vaccination certificate!

I think you've done the right thing. Pen just wants to be top cat ,I don't think Dotty will challenge her at all. Dotty reminds me of a Furby with her huge eyes.

I know the rescue and it's awful.

Toddlerteaplease · 24/10/2024 08:18

@SaturdayMorningRun named after a fruit? The other rescue are a bit scathing of keeping the cats in cages.

She won't. Penelope is definitely in charge.

Yes, that's the one. So many problems, it needs investigating.

Toddlerteaplease · 24/10/2024 08:37

@SaturdayMorningRun I think they are close to closing. I only got Paddington from them as my friend volunteers for them, and vouched for me. The other Persian rescue where I got my others from is winding down. The owners are lovely but a bit ditsy, to put it mildly. When I saw Dots, I just wanted to get her out of there.
From my experience with my other cats. I don't think award winning breeders are much better though. The lady who had Penelope is still winning shows with her cats. I'm 14 months in with Penelope and she's still having issues.

Having volunteered and worked in animal rescue, I've got no time for any breeders either, but rescues that 'specialise' in pedigree cats are often problematic and their finances and practices are questionable. I'm surprised you have gone near them to get honest if you know anything about them and that you're taking a risk with Pen who has been through so much already.

Close to closing, are they pleading poverty...again?

Toddlerteaplease · 24/10/2024 09:02

@SaturdayMorningRun yes. And charging £650 for a kitten and wondering why he's not been reserved yet. I disagree with them charging extra depending on how much they owe to the vet. That's not fair. I did get a bit knocked of Dotty fee, as I'd paid the full fee for Pads and didn't ask for a refund, they then rehomed him and probably charged the same again.

I love Persians. They fit in well with my lifestyle, and places to get them from are limited.

I can't believe you went back! Poor Pen. Let's just hope it works out this time.

Toddlerteaplease · 24/10/2024 09:06

Penelope was so pleased to see me last night when I got home. It was adorable. Nice to be wanted by your cat. She was so cuddly. Vet's later for check on her eye. I think it's healed. 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

@SaturdayMorningRun It's completely different this time. Occasional hiss but no fear.

You're helping to keeping them in 'business'.

I don't think it's a good decision for Pen, or the new cat but that's the thing with irresponsible rescues..it's all about the cash as much as they say it isn't.
