New thread for the inmates of Toddler Towers. Strange to think, it's about two completely different cats, from the original
Thread. But Magic, Maia and Cheddar will never be forgotten.

Poor Pen, I thought you were going to at least leave it a good while before thinking of getting another? I love cats but she's been through a lot and is only just getting more confident. 😢

Yes, I agree, she seems so much happier as a solo cat.

learieonthewildmoor · 23/10/2024 05:45

She was very happy with Cheddar, another gentle girl would be fine.

Toddlerteaplease · 23/10/2024 09:23

I originally said no to the new cat as Penelope wasn't ready. They said she had another match anyway. I then found out that she was still available, and felt Penelope would be ok. She's been here 9 days and all going well so far. I've kept her separate, but she's been out to explore. They just sit and look at each other. Dotty has made no move towards Pen. Dotty is quite overwhelmed by being in a house. She lived in a shed and then a tiny cage at the rescue. She's a very gentle, submissive and non dominant, sweet little thing.

She's never been an only cat. She and Cheddar were a double act. I was ganged up against 😂

How are they getting on? Have you decided to stick with the name Dotty?

Toddlerteaplease · 23/10/2024 11:16

All good so far. Occasional hiss from Pen. But nothing like what we had with Pads. Dotty just sits there. And doesn't even try to go near her. Not sure about the name. Nothing is really sticking.

Dotty is a really unusual colour she's a dilute apricot tortie.

She’s lovely - beautiful eyes like Penelope.

You could call her Lucy as in Aunt Lucy, continuing the Paddington theme.

Soubriquet · 23/10/2024 12:41

I like Lucy. She looks like a Lucy

CatChant · 23/10/2024 12:53

“Lived in a shed” - poor little mite. Fingers crossed everything works out for her and for you.

She looks like a Zaza to me.

OccasionalHope · 23/10/2024 13:20

You’ve kept her quiet! poor little thing.

Floralnomad · 23/10/2024 14:30

Those eyes , I’d call her Amber . She also looks a bit less flat faced which will likely be to her advantage .

Didn't want judging on getting a new cat so soon.

@Toddlerteaplease we never would judge, hundred per cent know that you would only do what is best for both Pen and the newbie who sounded in dire need of a loving home

Toddlerteaplease · 23/10/2024 15:17

My sister thinks she should be called Pigeon. I think it quite suits her, but no one else agrees. This is where she was in the rescue.

I've been away for a few days. Penelope is very happy to see me. And she's had a sniff at Dotty's face. That never happened either Pads

💯

Ellmau · 23/10/2024 19:47

I quite like a bird name for her, but not Pigeon. Somethng a bit cuter.

Wren?
Lark?
Linnet?

Or if you want a P, er, Puffin? Maybe not.

Or what about Paloma, which I think is possibly Spanish for dove?

Ellmau · 23/10/2024 19:48

Or Prunella, as apricots are from the prunus family.

Toddlerteaplease · 23/10/2024 20:05

Since I've just had a collar tag engraved with Dotty, I suspect she'll stay that way. She's very nervous of Pen at them minute

Breadcat24 · 23/10/2024 20:40

I hope it goes well. They are lucky to have you caring from them so much. I hope Pen's eye stops causing her grief and that you get to see them curled up together fast friends
